What an amazing weekend! Such a beautiful home, very responsive hosts, even flexible with checkout. The pool, games, and TV/internet were superb. Beds were so comfy. One of the best rentals I have ever experienced, and we cannot wait to return!

We had a 3 night friends’ reunion over the Labor Day weekend at this lovely house on the edge of the woods. It was incredibly peaceful and still within a 30-40 minute drive to our favorite winery, Charlottesville, Staunton, and even tubing on the James. The pool was a wonderful added bonus! The house was very well stocked and our host, Karen, could not have been nicer. She even left a selection of locally made treats for us to enjoy. We all agreed it was a perfect getaway and we would certainly recommend it!

This was a wonderful property to stay at. You felt like you were away from everything, but all the conveniences were just a short drive. The house was beautiful with a great pool to enjoy. The owners were lovely to work with. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the area! Highly recommended for others as well.

We loved this home! We traveled here with our 5 children to explore the area & visit Monticello. The size and amenities were perfect. It has a lived in touch and has everything you could need to spend a week here with your family. The house is older so expect creaking floors & doors, but that adds to the charm. The views are remarkable & I could sit in the back room looking at the trees for days! The owners are nearby, responsive, & very sweet to visit with. Although it rained during our visit, my kids had to jump in the pool plus got to enjoy seeing 100s of fireflies in the evening.

Our second stay here was even better than the first! Wonderful hosts, great location. Everything we needed for a relaxing family vacation. A highlight was our hike at nearby St. Mary's Wilderness. No steep slopes, beautiful mountain stream and waterfall. Go early in the day (parking is a bit limited).

Gorgeous property with wonderful hosts!

We originally booked the house because of the pool, but even though it was too cold to enjoy that aspect of the property, se had a wonderful stay! We look forward to booking again next summer!

Spring Retreat

Oak Tree Cottage provided a beautiful place for our group of older friends to enjoy time together. Sleeping arrangements were perfect for our group. We loved being outside on the deck or by the pool and also enjoyed the dining/gathering space across the back of the house overlooking the woods. The hosts were super nice and helpful. A wonderful stay!

Excellent stay

The house had everything you would want or need in a VRBO The pool was right outside the front door, loved sitting on the deck with all the shade from the oak trees, great farm to hike, loved the special local treats the owners left. Great sunroom with a big family gathering table. Definitely will be back!

Oak Tree Cottage is Great

We enjoyed our stay at the Oak Tree Cottage. The house was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The pool is great and we loved spending time in the sunroom. We had such a relaxing time, we hope to return. Karen and Dave are excellent hosts. We highly recommend Oak Tree Cottage.

Peaceful house with mountain views

This was the perfect place for a family group of 8, enjoying the quiet of the countryside and views of the mountains. There was plenty of seating and a big dining table. We would come back in the future.

Beautiful stay with a big group!

We traveled here with 6 adults and 3 children and had a wonderful time! The cottage is in a beautiful location and close enough to get to stores and restaurants. It’s incredibly clean, well-appointed and perfect for big groups. The owners are very friendly. We enjoyed exploring outside and playing games with the kids. There are also lots of hiking options nearby. We were there for a wedding but we would definitely come back!

The Best of the Best

An amazing, gorgeous property! The house was exactly as described but the view was even better in person. It was stocked with everything we needed, clean/ready to go, and check in/out instructions were easy to follow. Bonus that the owner was such a delight to talk to! This location is ideal for hiking the trails accessible from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive. The home is on 1,000 acres and feels very private since the owner's home is the only other house on the property. We were pleased with both the cleanliness of the home and the comfort of the bed. The owners, Karen and Dave, were very hospitable hosts who made sure that we had everything that we needed for a pleasant stay. We did hike a bit on the property and saw a lot of deer while walking. I don't think you will regret choosing this home.
