We wanted to surprise our family at Christmas and the host was gracious and accommodated us last minute. They even brought some additional items to the house that we had forgotten. The home was clean, very comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything that we needed. We will definitely return again.

Spacious property but the listing was inaccurate. There was no hot tub, just a jacuzzi bath tub. Guests are expected to bring their own bath towels, wash clothes, and kitchen wash clothes. Coffee pot was broken. No coffee filters available. Acorns in the couch and bedding of one of the downstairs bedrooms. Accommodated our party just a little disappointing for the expectation and price.

This group brought a dog into the home which does not comply with the rental agreement. When confronted they stated they wanted a refund and were going to write a review. The guest lost the house key during their stay and contacted housekeeping for a replacement. Neither housekeeping nor myself were made aware of any issues with the coffee pot or the home. Upon inspection after their departure the coffee pot was working and filters were in the pantry. This reservation was during Thanksgiving and a few acorns were on the driveway from the neighbors large oak tree. None were found in the house. We do not supply bath or beach towels. Hand towels, kitchen towels and bed linens are provided. A jetted tub is in the master bedroom, AI keeps changing the description to hot tub. I have removed jetted tub from the listing.
This was a great house for me and my friends to come enjoy Norris Lake for a long weekend. Everything was as exactly as described, no surprises. Lori was great to communicate with and very nice. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone.

Suzanne, Thank you so much for staying with us and taking the time to write a review. We hope you will come back and visit us again.
We loved this vacation home with easy access to the lake from a private, covered dock, although there were a LOT of stairs to and from the house/dock. Yet, the quiet cove provided a great place for the toddlers and kids to swim and fish onsite. The home was very clean and the host provides grocery pick-up/put away service the day of arrival. WELL worth the money and super convenient to have everything there upon arrival. Additionally, the home was well stocked with plenty of pots/pans, dishes, etc.We will return - we had an amazing time on our lake vacation!

Hi Manda. So happy to hear that you enjoyed your vacation with us at Cedar Creek Inn. We look forward to you staying with us again.
Cedar Creek Inn was an absolute treasure. Our large family felt safe and relaxed in this nestled gem along a quiet cove. Deer would walk through the yard much to the children’s delight. The home was very clean and well stocked. They even had a grocery service that would pick up your grocery order and stock for you! The only negative is the stairs to the water, which total about 160. This wasn’t an issue for us but, if your family has someone less mobile, you could always have them drive to the marina at the resort and pick them up from the dock so they can avoid the stairs. Overall, if you’re looking at this place and it’s available, book it!

This is our second time staying at Cedar Creek Inn and we absolutely loved it!! Best location on the lake!! Close to everything and the value is great. The owners are a pleasure to deal with and they make sure your vacation goes as smooth as possible. We all had a blast swimming in the cove and boating on Norris Lake.

Kelly, we are glad you enjoyed your vacation at the Cedar Creek Inn which was formerly called the Dugout. We have many improvements planned for the property. We are happy to have you and your family back any time.
The property was clean, and Sherri had provided excellent instructions for checking in. The dock was large and covered. There are a lot of steps to the dock but that is fairly normal at the lake and did not bother us. Overall, it was a very enjoyable family trip. Thanks!
House was nice, and it was clean.
We found everything one would need, as everyone else commented the steps were a killer if your older (I'm 65). Guess I'm out of shape.
Owners responded in a timely fashion.
My family of four and several of their college friends really enjoyed the house, property and its amenities. We have stayed at several properties around Deerfield Resort and my daughter says that this house was her favorite! The new decks around the house were so nice to find that perfect view of the lake and relax with my morning coffee! The steps to the covered dock were ALOT but manageable and safe. Thank you for a great stay!

This home was so nice!! First time with our whole family to Norris Lake. The owners and rental manager were very accommodating. The stairs are a bit overwhelming for us older folk but just take your time! The boat dock was very nice we just hung out there a couple afternoons. We had a water mat we attached and the kids swam and we used kayaks and paddle boards in our cove area! Would recommend this for a family vacation!

Property was clean and surrounding area was beautiful. Our family of 5 (3 children under 9) all had a great time. Spent everyday on the water which was very clear. The grill on the deck was great for those evening BBQ's, kitchen was well stocked, plenty of room for our family and friends. We had a total of 4 adults and 4 Children, plenty of beds for everyone to sleep comfortably. We would definitely return.

Overall, the lake and cove were beautiful—perfect for swimming and relaxing outdoors. However, the house itself could use some updates and attention to detail. The kitchen lacked sufficient cookware and utensils, and the coffee pot had mold. The beds were uncomfortable, and some of the blankets were dirty. Only one room had a TV, and the living room didn’t offer smart features, which made rainy days less enjoyable. The dock was a great spot to hang out and swim, but it could benefit from some maintenance and cleaning. Also, be aware that the property involves a lot of steps and is quite remote—there are no nearby towns for shopping, dining, or groceries.Check-in is strictly at 4 PM, and unfortunately our rental wasn’t fully cleaned until 5.

Candice, thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. Check in time is 4PM or after. You arrived on July 5th during the busiest summer holiday. Housekeeping has more houses than this one that they need to clean every Saturday. Unfortunately this being a holiday they were running a little behind and since being rushed may have overlooked a few things. Had you contacted either myself or Lori, we would have addressed your concerns. You were welcome to enjoy the lake or the tiki while you waited for them to finish. The home is equipped with 2 television sets. One in the living room and a smart TV in the upstairs master bedroom. Some of our older guests prefer a TV that is easier to use. The house is not advertised as having smart features. The home is located on a mountain lake in East Tennessee. Most guests come to the lake to relax and enjoy nature. We do not advertise the home as near shopping or fancy restaurants. There are many marinas close to the house that offer restaurants and entertainment. The neighborhood has its own golf course, marina, private air strip and tiki club restaurant. A small winery is just outside the gate. The closest grocery store is 30 minutes away with Walmart and fast food 40 minutes away. Grocery delivery service is also offered if a guest chooses that service. We always encourage guests to research their destinations before making a reservation for a vacation whether it is Norris Lake or elsewhere.
The house layout was perfect for my dad, 2 kids husband and I. Open kitchen, dining and living room for hanging out. The deck was our nightly routine to eat at and play games. Wish there was one more shower and didn’t think to bring toilet paper! Lots of stairs down to the dock. Overall very nice week in this property!

Wonderful family vacation. House is very nice. kitchen is recent remodel. All appliances were great. Requires certain level of ability to walk the stairs to and from the dock. Covered boat dock functional, but needs some attention to basic maintenance. Electric outlets on the dock do not work, and did not work 3 years ago. House is very nice. 3 married children and their spouses had privacy

Hi Candy, thank you for choosing to stay with us again at Cedar Creek Inn. We are happy to hear you liked the remodel. We have chosen not to have electricity at or on the dock. All the wiring has been removed.. The dock across the cove does not have electricity either. This allows guests to enjoy the lake, swim off the dock, float in the cove and fish even if they do not have a boat.
This house is everything it is said to be. The property owner as well as the check in person were quick to respond and answer any questions we had. The house was clean well furnished and the perfect fit for our group. We had some dock issues as a result of a storm that came threw. Once I notified Angela of the issue it was resolved quicker than I could of even hoped. All in all I would highly recommend this house. The steps to the dock are no joke for sure, but nothing I wouldn't expect at the lake. Thank you to Sheri for sharing this magnificent house with us. Look forward to booking again.

Alan, thank you so much for taking the time to write a wonderful review! Glad the house was a good fit for your group, we look forward to having you as our guests again!
Pros - beautiful, bright, clean house. There’s lots of light and everything is nice and clean. Great location! Deerfield is beautiful, lots of wildlife, close to marinas and places to eat, easy to find. Great communication with host, easy check in process.
Cons - stairs, stairs, and more stairs. 164 to be exact from dock to house, steep and rickety. The view is not great as you can barely see the lake thru the trees. But the trees are beautiful so if you don’t care about seeing the actual lake then it’s fine. The dock doesn’t have a lot of room to hang out on and with there being so many stairs to and from the house it’s not a hang out and swim off the dock place.

Clean and very remote
Overall the house is very clean. Property owners arranged for extra trash bags, laundry pods to do a few loads of laundry as well as dishwasher tabs. Plenty of soap to wash dishes and sponges. On the bathrooms extra rolls of toilet paper, hand soaps and extra toothbrush if you forgot yours. BUY GROCERY BEFORE YOU GET TO HOUSE. As far as outside the property. The driveway angle to turn in takes some getting used to. It’s easier if you back in. We had kayaks on our roof. If we had a trailer it would’ve been harder to get trailer in. Along driveway it appears the renovation hasn’t been completed as far as lights along the retaining wall. There are still electrical wires hanging out. The decks were spacious and clean. Plenty of seating. We came during a heat wave so they were hot to use during the day. The walk down was no problem for anyone in our party. We planned ahead and took things down. There are as many steps as advertised. The stairs leading down could use some work. Plenty of splinters were acquired while holding onto handrail. Several loose banisters and posts. Along the pathway are several areas of poison ivy and bushes that ticks held onto. The area around the dock if you step to the side where rocks are it is the same story poison ivy everywhere. The actual dock walking surface is good however the metal supporting it has several rusted spots and rusted nails. Also NO ELECTRICITY AT DOCK. Cove area was amazing! Quiet and safe. Floated for hours!

Stairs
One word: stairs! There are probably 150 steps down to the dock. They are slippery when wet and plain old exhausting, even if you’re in good shape. Wouldn’t be bad for just adults but we had 5 children ranging from 5-1.5 years old.
We docked two boats and didn’t have any trouble. The cove is very nice and secluded and we even swam off the dock a few times if you don’t mind a slimy ladder. The cedar creek jumping bridge is super close and you can’t beat the distance to multiple marinas.
There are no bath towels which was in the listing but kind of difficult. Also, very minimal hand and dish towels. There were also no pillow cases so we had to sleep on discolored used pillows, no extra blankets, and only one set of extra bed sheets in the whole house. Would have highly improved our stay to have clean kitchen, hand, and bath towels, some extra blankets, and pillowcases.
Kitchen was well stocked with dish soap, trash bags, spices, pans, appliances, and dishes. The grill worked great and there’s an ice maker in the laundry room which was helpful if you want to haul it all the way down the stairs in your cooler. We just went to a marina every morning and bought ice which is around $4.50/bag.
There are some hornets nests outside and near the deck. My 2 year old got stung for the first time on her ankle which was no fun. There is a home phone which can be used because there is no cell service.
The upstairs consists of a king bed with a pull out couch and attached bathroom (jacuzzi tub and stand up shower). Downstairs had 3 bedrooms with a total of 4 beds and a detached bathroom.
Overall, the house was okay. The biggest downfall were the stairs. Made for a long day and took more time to get to and from our boats on the dock. Also, Deerfield boat launch is terrible. $25 ramp fee each time to use an outdated terrible ramp which is always busy.

Lauren,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. If this is your first time to Norris Lake, it is a lake in the beautiful mountains of Tennessee. The house is elevated from the lake as shown in the vrbo listing. I’m sorry that you did not take this into consideration before you made your reservation.
As you boated around the area, I’m sure you noticed most of the homes do have steps to the lake. If you wanted something closer, you could have paid double for a different home. Cedar Creek Inn is a great value. You have a large, covered private dock in a quiet cove where you are able to swim. You get lakefront for a lakeview price. Many of the other homes, condos and villas in Deerfield have longer walks to their shared docks. You also saved money by being able to park your 2 trailers and trucks in the driveway instead of paying for the mandatory trailer storage.
The home has AT&T internet and phone service. In the welcome e mail you received, it is advised to turn on the Wi-Fi calling on your cell phone because the reception can be spotty because we are in the mountains. Many guests as well as myself and husband have worked from home using the internet and phone service without any issues.
We do not supply bath and beach towels due to the red Tennessee clay by the water, we supply sheets, kitchen and hand towels which is in the listing as well as in your welcome e mail. The home is on well and septic as are most of the homes in the area. Too much laundry will overload the system. A set of sheets for the pull-out sofa is in the dresser, and each bedroom has a blanket or bedspread in the closet. Wasp spray is also available under the sink, we are sorry to hear your daughter got stung. We are in the woods with much wildlife.
If you had any issues with your stay, you should have sent either myself or housekeeping a message the first day so we could have taken care of your needs. Neither of us heard from you all week. Housekeeping name and phone number is in the welcome e mail as well as on the framed welcome letter in the kitchen.
The Deerfield Marina is privately owned. They do charge a $25.00 launch fee which is also included in your welcome e mail. The launch is all concrete, wide enough to launch 2 boats at the same time with a gentle slope into the water. It can be busy, Deerfield is a popular place.
We are happy to hear you did enjoy the dock and location of the house with such close proximity to several marinas and the jumping bridge.
This is the welcome e mail everyone receives before they arrive:
Thank you for choosing to stay with us at Cedar Creek Inn, we hope you have a great vacation.
Please contact xxxx xxxxx approximately 3 days before your check in at xxx-xxx-xxxx, she is also copied on this message.
The home has a large gas grill on the upper deck. Please keep it covered when not in use and the lid closed to prevent water from getting in the grill in case of rain. Also keep the umbrella closed when not in use to prevent damage from wind or storms.
We have AT&T internet, for best cell service please use Wi-Fi calling while at the house as regular cell service is spotty due to the hills and mountains.
The home is equipped with starter supplies of paper products, trash bags, dish and hand soap. Bed linens and kitchen towels are also supplied. You will need to bring bath and beach towels, please remind your guests to bring them as well. In the kitchen we have a Keurig single serve coffee pot as well as a 10 cup regular pot. The kitchen is pretty well stocked, however if there is something special you may want please bring it with you. An example would be a waffle maker, we had supplied one in the past but guests would not clean it and put it away dirty.
You may also want to bring life jackets, floats for floating in the cove, lines for tying off the water toys, soft sided coolers (easier for transport from the house) and camp chairs for the dock. We are a safe swimming cove, as there are not any houses past the Cedar Creek Inn. Many guests swim off the dock, please wear your life vests. If you prefer to use the resort pool, there is not an additional fee.
Attached is a gate pass and directions to the house once inside of Deerfield. If you are pulling a trailer the green route is more forgiving to the house but there may be low tree branches.
If you are bringing a boat and wish to anchor at the jumping bridge we let out 200 feet of line to secure the boat. Many boats were having a hard time getting their anchors to set because of the depth of the water. Rental boats do not come with anchors. Oasis watersports offers boat and jet ski rentals as well as all of the water toys. In most cases they will deliver to the house. There is a marina in the resort where you can launch your boat. You will pass it shortly after you pass through the gate to Deerfield. There is a $25.00 launch fee. You may park your trailer at the house, back in first as far as possible and there is still room for several cars.
There is also a rustic fire pit, you may wish to bring firewood. There is a small store on the way in that offers wood for sale. There is also a lot of wood around the resort if you do not mind looking for it.
All trash must bagged in regular size trash bags, (not grocery store bags) tied put in cans and taken to the concrete pad at the top of the driveway, otherwise there will be a charge from the trash service.
Shanghai and Sugar Hollow are the closest marinas to the house. Both have restaurants and Shanghai has gas. Springs Dock also has gas. The Tiki Hut is the restaurant in Deerfield Cove marina, you will pass it on the way to the house shortly after you enter the gate.
We hope you have a wonderful stay.
Please do not hesitate to e mail if you have any additional questions.
Regards,
Cedar Creek Inn
Great LakeHouse! The views are incredible! Perfect spot for kids to play in the water.
This is an amazing place to stay! Plenty of space on main floor for a group to gather. Everything is updated inside and very well decorated. Only downside is absolutely no cell signal in the area. Make sure you set your GPS before you make the 40 minute commute back to the lake or you will get lost. However once at property, wifi is great and calls can be made inside the house with no problems.
The house was great. Had most of what we needed. The worst thing was the stairs to the boat. 170 steps. Was in none of the pics so we had no idea until we got there. That was a huge disappointment. Carrying everything up and down those stairs was the pits but other than that it was great. Jus having all my kids and grands was enough for me Vicki

Hi Vicki, glad to hear that you enjoyed the house and was able to have your family with you. Pictures 2 through 8 in the listing show that the house is elevated from the lake as well as the steps. Sorry you missed that. Norris lake is in the mountains. The elevation gives us the great views and double outside decks. Most of the houses on the lake have some steps to climb.
We try to value the house accordingly with access to its large covered private dock with a driveway big enough to park 2 boat trailers and additional cars. We are happy to hear you still had a great time.
