About this property

Peaceful Setting in 1919 Farmhouse Surrounded by Nature.

The little farmhouse is situated on 20 acres in the rural area of Battle Lake, Minnesota. There is a preserve to the west, situated on undeveloped lake shore, a soybean field to the south with open hay field to the east. It has a prairie garden that was started as a preservation site for the disappearing monarch butterfly. Those who come to visit may wish to see this noble butterfly in its natural habitat. The farmhouse is very clean and kept in its original 1919 character. The cooking stove is propane. There is one studio bedroom with a full (53 x 75 bed) and similar size podium bed upstairs in the loft. There are skunks under the old barn, marmots under the old feed shed, red and gray squirrels, fox, coyotes, beaver down at the dock at night and deer who pass through to eat the apples from the trees. A guest may or may not encounter wild life, but if so, the owner asks to observe but not disturb. A coyote or raccoon may wake you up at night. It has its resident bald eagle (utility company cut down its nest in 2018), raptors and a multitude of birds depending on the season. There is a main house on the property to walk past, through a grove of trees, to the lake dock or one can drive to the main house and take a shorter walk from there. There is bass and sunfish fishing off the dock. One can swim off the dock but there is no sandy beach. There is no television, the house has connected WiFi. There is an outside fire pit and if it is a cloudless night you can see the stars, there is no light pollution. The sunsets and sunrises from the dock are beautiful. This place is for a special type of person(s) who wish to have a relaxing time in a rural setting.

Update; in May of 2022 a horrific storm came through that toppled many 60-70 year old trees. The guests will still see some down trees. The area is now being replanted with sugar maple, white pine, native birch and red and burr oak.
