This cabin was perfect for our family. We had 5 kids (8 to 16 yo) and 5 adults. The 3 upstairs bedrooms were all queen and en suite, so that was perfect for the adults. The 2 downstairs bedrooms had bunk beds and a bathroom right outside the rooms. The mud room was perfect with a bathroom and washer/dryer which definitely came in handy. Check in was super easy and she even reached out and told us that we could check in early if we wanted to. Check out was just as easy and convenient. The icing on the cake was how close the cabin is to the village. We walked over several times a day and the kids loved it.Just to note, the cabin was clean but had cob/spider? webs when we walked through the first time. Maybe we were the first renters in a little while. It also has the quintessential floor creaks and is dark inside. We didn't mind that but just wanted to note it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was very well equipped with ample space and lovely European charm accents. Amazing location to the village and a very easy check in process. Property manager was wonderful to work with. Would definitely recommend.
The home was nice. Location was perfect for us. Owner was very helpful and easy to contact with questions. Great outdoor areas. Clean Beds could be updated. Very much enjoyed our stay.
Incredible family/friends retreat in the heart of Arrowhead
We had great time with friends for New year. The cabin is beautiful and just across the street from the restaurants and shopping center in the village. Brigitte, the owner is very responsive and accommodating to our needs. Great experience. Will definitely come back.
We stayed for 4th of July weekend. Lovely big house with lots of room. Also centrally located right near village, so we could walk everywhere. Wonderful fireworks show and evening concerts at village. Property manager (Bridgette) was awesome; so responsive to all our needs. We had a great time and highly recommend:)
Fantastic location. Quirky and fun house with great layout for our family and well behaved dog. Some deferred maintenance but didn’t impact our experience. Great BBQ and lots of outdoor seating options.
My family came up for Thanksgiving we had 8 adults 3 kids ranging from 2-15 and one dog and this home was comfortable for all. It had a plenty of bathrooms and a large enough kitchen to cook a full thanksgiving meal. In my opinion the location was the best as it was down the street from the lake side restaurants and shops. There was a small leak under the sink that caused us to clean out the cabinet under the sink a few times.
I stayed here with my family for New Year’s Eve. I was extremely satisfied with my choice. The house is a great size for a large family (not to mention the importance of 5 bathrooms). The listing pictures don’t do it justice. It has so many cute details around the house. I loved how close it was to The Village. We got lucky and it snowed on our last day! It was a fabulous trip!
We wanted a special holiday getaway with family from Southern California and found this cozy spot in Lake Arrowhead. Brigitte was quick to respond and very welcoming, confirming the house was pet-friendly and decorated for the holidays. The location was ideal—right in town and within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. The house was spacious with plenty of bathrooms, a large kitchen for cooking family meals, and thoughtful extras like firewood and lake passes. The neighborhood was great for walking our dogs, and everyone had space to relax and enjoy the trip. That said, there were a couple of small disappointments. The Christmas decorations were minimal—just a garland and a few small touches, with no tree or lights, which we had hoped for. Additionally, the floors needed a good mopping and scrubbing, which detracted from the otherwise cozy atmosphere. The house, being older, had some quirks like wavy floors, repairs visible nor fully finished, and traffic noise at night, but nothing too disruptive.Overall, it was a great spot for our family to come together and make holiday memories. Brigitte’s communication and hospitality made the experience easy and enjoyable!
The house was very nice, upstairs has 3 bedrooms with bathrooms and 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms downstairs. The kitchen had some spices. What was missing was plastic storage bags which would be nice and an upgrade in frying pans. The pans there were really old with loose handles. Other than that the house was great.
The house was even better than we expected. It was cosy and elegant. Everything was in order and our family (six adults and three kids under 6) had a great time. The house was perfectly situated just a few minute walk to the village. Other reviews complained because it was near a busy street but we never heard any street traffic at all and there was plenty of room for everyone. There were a couple of game rooms which provided places for the children to spread out and play. The dining room was perfect for our thanksgiving dinner and the little ones were happy sitting on stools at the counter near the kitchen. Our host was very responsive to all our questions. We would definitely stay there again.

Ideal location for family gathering
We were looking for a 5 bedroom/5 bathroom house with a well equipped kitchen and a barbecue and high ratings at Lake Arrowhead, that would also accept a dog. Castelago fit that need, with the benefit of charming vintage architecture. The overall design of living areas and fireplace were great. Bathrooms were very clean, all the linens were quite nice.
Maybe it was just an off week - but I reduced our rating due to some disappointing issues with housekeeping and maintenance. This place is a great location with wonderful potential - and based on our conversation with the host, I expect that these issues will be resolved for the next guests.
We had a wonderful time in Lake Arrowhead and dealing with Brigitte the owner was delightful. The older home was quaint with a cool vintage cabin feel. It had plenty of comfortable bedrooms, many with their own small bathrooms. The newer kitchen was large with nice appliances and plenty of cooking tools. The best part was that the cabin was within walking distance to Lake Arrowhead Village.
The week we stayed there was very warm, and while the upstairs air conditioning worked wonderfully, the downstairs got quite warm, but it cooled off nicely in the evening. There were a few minor maintenance issues that needed attention and we communicated them to the owner.
Thank you Brigitte, we definitely enjoyed our stay.

Difficult location with small kids
The location of the property, although close to restaurants and stores, was not what we were looking for. We were not able to tell from the pictures that the property sits on a parking lot and is located directly above a busy highway. Unfortunately, we were not familiar with Arrowhead and the pictures did not reflect the location as advertised. I personally cannot recommend this property if traveling with small children. We stayed only 1 day out of the 4 we purchased.
Nice house but we were charged for the piece of furniture that was broken before us
It was a nice house, clean bed sheets and dishes, enough room for everyone. But there are few things to consider. There is no AC at the main level of the house, so it was pretty hot during the day. The house is located right next to a very busy street. Plus a huge disappointment has happend after we checked out. We were charged for the piece of furniture that has been already broken. We saw the bench leg fall off, and put it aside so noone could injure them selves. Apparently i had to take a picture of it and send it to the owner. But i was on vacation and going around the property and taking pictures of the broken things was the last thing i wanted to do. Unfortunately, the owner had different opinion and decided we had to pay saying that that old bench was new and i could have been charged more. I am working with the insurance company now to get my money back which is not the hustle i wanted to have after the vacation. It just doesn't feel fair. So my advice to the future guests to have cameras ready and take pictures of everything that is broken or about to be.
We love staying here, it’s perfect for our big group. Everyone has their own bedroom and own bathroom. There is plenty of space! Brigitte is great with the communication and easy to get in touch with! Hope to stay here again next year!
hello friends, i am a retired airline hostess and i enjoy beautiful places and homes, and taking care of my guests. i was born and grew up in germany, where i worked as a translator for USAACOM. i came to the usa in 1967 on a leave of absence, started flying, fell in love with my new country and my new job and i have been here ever since. our main residence is in los angeles, ca, but my family and i love driving up up to lake arrowhead, which reminds me of my youth in a small town in germany.
Why they chose this property
i love restoring older homes to their former glory. i am proud to say that this property is now a beautiful, elegant and comfortable home and offers all the amenities of a luxury hotel and more. the old-world charm of castellago and its ideal location make for a perfect get-away. you can walk across the street to arrowhead village to the super market, several fine restaurants, as well as casual eateries with lake views. there is a coach outlet store and other lovely stores and boutiques, galleries, antique stores for the adults and a little playground and macdonalds for the kids. a seven eleven and a pizzeria are across the street. the property has its own large level parking lot. the ground floor has 2 bedrooms/2bathrooms for those not able to climb stairs. the home is easily accessible from hwy 173 even during inclement weather. during the summer, oktoberfest, 4th of july fireworks, christmas, etc. it is impossible to find parking in the village. castellago guests can just stroll across the street. sunday brunch at bugsy segal's former speak-easy or cedar glen village for antiquing are just a 10 minute drive away. my guest book has loads of information for you.
What makes this property unique
i fell in love with castellago the first time i saw it! from the village it looks like an old european castle and inside it is a mixture of villa and farmhouse - sophisticated, yet cozy and comfortable. the location is prime! once there you will not need a car. from restaurants to shopping to entertainment - everything is within walking distance. the home has ample parking for 5 cars, or a motorhome, a boat. wintersports are easily accessible , the home is right off hwy 173, it's 1.6 miles to sky park and santa's village, 5.8 miles to lake gregory 8 miles to snow valley and 8 miles to san manuel casino. castellago has lake rights and access to two private beach clubs for guests staying 30 DAYS OR MORE ( PER LAKE ASSOCIATION!) BEACH PASS IS REQUIRED! parking in arrowhead village is problematic during the summer months and holidays, and being able to just walk across the street for shopping, dinner, a cruise on the arrowhead queen, the weekend concerts, fireworks, etc. is a plus. yet, for guests just looking for a quiet weekend with family and friends, the kitchen is fully stocked, bathroom amenities are provided. the private terrace is a lovely spot equipped with a large bbq, dining set and chaise lounge. or you can watch movies on the 2 large screen tvs, read a book in the little library or play games in the breakfast/game room. guests may use owner's lake pass to access the private hiking trails around the lake by purchasing wrist bands from the lake association.
