Welcome to The Gathering Place, a spacious lodge in Island Park, Idaho designed for exactly what the name suggests — bringing people together.

Located about 40–45 minutes from the West Entrance of Yellowstone National Park, this large cabin is a perfect home base for family reunions, multi-family vacations, fishing trips, snowmobile adventures, and Yellowstone exploring.

With 6 bedrooms and space for up to 26 guests, there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out while still enjoying time together. The large kitchen and dining areas make it easy to cook meals for a crowd, share stories from the day’s adventures, and plan tomorrow’s Yellowstone outing.

Great location for family holiday

We had a lovely family holiday, the house accommodated our large family and was centrally located. It’s in walking distance of the river which provided many opportunities for kayaking and paddle boarding. The fishermen in the group found endless possibilities to cast a line.

We had a great time at the Gathering Place. We enjoyed the fire pit, the hot tub and spending time together. The kids loved running around and playing. We had a 4 year old that was too cold in the basement room but it was perfect for our teenagers. Overall a good experience.

Had a great time. Owner was easy to work with and provided lots of info up front that made planning easier. Outside grills were great for preparing food for a large group. They fogged for mosquitoes which turned out to be a huge deal as others around were complaining of insects but we had none.

We had a great reunion we had 20+ people stay there. We stayed in February and played in endless amounts of snow, hot tub, and games. I think the only downfall we had was we couldn't get things like the tv's, video games, and movies and such to work very well.

We had a great time at the gathering place. We loved the area. It was close to all of the places we wanted to visit. The teen boys enjoyed the basketball court. The fireplace for smores was a big hit as well as the hot tub. The kitchen was well supplied. Plenty of large grills for cooking on. Lots of games for everyone.. It was nice to have 4 different areas for gathering.

Great place for this big family!

I loved the mud room in basement. It’s great for a large group of snowmobiles to store gear and clothing. Kitchen is a little small, but would not deter me from renting again. Would love to come back in the summer and experience the outside of this property. The management was very easy to get ahold of. She went above and beyond with answering questions and even helped get an item back to me safely that was left behind.

We had 17 family members for Christmas. There was plenty of room although I wish there was one big room to gather and eat. The kitchen pantry had so many appliances that there wasn't much room to put our food. Probably don't need 4 crockpots. But overall it was really nice.

We have never been to the Gathering Place before and were pleasantly surprised. It is large, clean, and we came only to sleep after we were at a wedding in Island Park but we did enjoy the pool table and Jacuzzi. We are glad we stand for the night instead of driving home that night. We found a place we can't wait to rent again for our next vacation. If you forgot anything in your packing they had everything you would possibly need. We would give them more than 5 stars if we could. Great place and a great price.

Riley Family Reunion

There were 26 of us and there was plenty of room to relax play games enjoy the hot tub great deck to sit and enjoy each other! Close enough to have a great family picture on the deck to laid your rafts for the water. We also visited Yellowstone and had yummy pizza at Ponds! The cleaning ladies found my money that accidentally fell under my bed and returned it to me a above and beyond gift! We loved our stay my family said it was the best placed we have stayed and we have been doing this for over 11 years! Thank you Gathering Place! The Riley Bunch

Great place for large Families!

This cabin worked great for our growing family as we have 3 married children and 5 grandchildren! There was plenty of room for everyone with places for all to hang out and do several activities like play games, sit in hot tub or just visit. Kitchen was large with plenty of cooking utensils, pans, bowls, and small appliances and it was great to have 2 fridges! The grandkids loved the playroom and the best part was the small sledding hill just off the driveway, close enough to go back in and warm up if someone got cold. The mudroom was also very convenient with plenty of cubbies and a large bench to store all the snow gear and to get changed without tracking snow throughout the cabin. We had couple issues with garbage being too full and a breaker that kept tripping but we received prompt response from owner and someone came right away to remedy problems. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks Teara :)

The property looks better online than it does in person. It is older and dirtier than expected. The towels were hard to find and not many available. The hot tub was not working but the owner did stop by to check on that. Rooms are small and there are three stories but not a place large enough to gather a bigger group. There is no A/C and screens and windows are not in working order so you can’t leave windows open at night. The breakers consistently tripped when using griddles or other electronics. The outside property and fire pit are beautiful and spacious. Our security deposit was held back for property damage that we did not primarily cause. We did attempt to communicate with owner and take responsibility but issue was unresolved and communication tense. We would definitely not recommend this property to others. If considering renting the property please carefully read reviews.

Out of 6 couples (ages 40-72, total group size 20) none would rent here again.

I rented this house because of the extras they said they offered. I have rented 7 homes in the past and this was by far the worst. The house was dirty, and so many things were broken, not working properly or missing. We came in on the main level, first thing we saw was a torn up entry mat and kitchen light fixture full of dead moths/bugs. The volley ball and basketball area are a joke. The grass/weeds in the area were at least 16" high with the dirt ground being unlevel. The carpet/furniture in the cabin is dirty and stained. We arrived Saturday evening, on Sunday we tried to vacuum. The vacuum cleaner was so plugged it wouldn't pick up anything, it took my husband 30 minutes to fix it. Once he did, he vacuumed and filled the canister 1 1/2 times. In the canister amongst the dirt was dog hair. How does a home with a no pet policy have dog hair in it? The answer is because Island Park bring their own pet(s) into the house. The silverware/utensil drawers had food particles in them so we ended up cleaning there also. During our entire visit we dealt with ants in the kitchen. We ended up purchasing ant poison to deal with the problem ourselves as we had no response from the Park. Kitchen counter space is very limited. Two people working in the kitchen was the maximum it could hold to work comfortably. The pantry was full of their stuff, no room for our food there as you see in video. Pool table is in a small room a short cue stick is needed to play, one is provided. In one of the downstairs rooms is basketball hoop game that is just about the height of the ceiling, It's broken and doesn't work properly. The bedrooms do not have dressers or chest of drawers to place clothing in. The closets are full of their stuff (floor and shelf). The windows in the bedroom that could open were difficult to do so. They provide extra mattresses for guests but we couldn't find any sheets, lots of blankets though. The pull out couch mattress is badly stained. New TV upstairs but they failed to set it up so it was unusable, said they would come out same day to fix but they didn't. Cords for dvd/vhs player were too short so unusable. No guitar, mic for the Karaoke was in pieces. Deck wood and rail need fixing/replacing. Downstairs door was unlocked when we arrived. Communication was good prior to arrival not so afterwards if it included something which needed their attention. We rented 8 days. I wish we could post pictures. Their video is inaccurate.
