About this property
Beautiful Ski-in/Ski-out Chalet on Grandfathers Trail with Sweeping View
This is the lower unit of our ski chalet duplex with the best ski-in/ski-out on the mountain right onto Grandfathers Trail. The other side of the house has a sweeping gorgeous view of the sunrise, Green Mountain and greenbelt with creek below. Ten foot ceilings, an open floor plan, mountain decor, lots of warm wood and cozy furnishings provide a rustic-modern feel. The rental unit is accessed from your parking by one flight of stairs down to the door.
This ski chalet beautifully sleeps, dines and lounges 8 people. The large kitchen is thoughtfully designed and thoroughly furnished by a fantastic cook who loves to entertain a crowd. Radiant heat in the floor and a propane fireplace keep you cozy. The deck off the kitchen has a stunning view and is equipped with a large hot tub for 6 and propane barbeque. Two queen bedrooms and a bunk area for 4, all with cozy flannel duvets, make a perfect situation for two families or a group of 8.
The location feels high above the forest, inviting you to curl up in front of the fire and gaze out at the sweeping view as you unwind after a fun day of skiing/snowboarding, x-country skiing, skating, snowshoeing, tubing, or hiking. The chalet is well equipped with Wifi, a flat screen streaming tv, DVDs, games, puzzles, and books for your evening entertainment. We have sleds and snowshoes for you to borrow.
Just down the ski hill lies quaint Apex Mountain Resort Village with the Gunbarrel Saloon and Restaurant, The Mountain Shop for equipment, The Edge Bistro and Cafe, a new steak house, The Trading Post for groceries, beverages, sundries, a rental shop, and more. It all has a laid back family-friendly ranch feel. The mountain has something for everyone with incredible skiing and snowboarding with opportunity for lessons, an ice skating adventure loop and hockey rink, tubing, sledding, snowshoeing, world class nordic skiing, snow-mountain biking and snowmobiling. If you time it just right, you may even get to watch world class freestyle and racing competitions and events with athletes from around the world.
This vacation home is perfect for summer getaways as well. Please let us know if you would like to rent in the summer so we may unblock dates for you. The peaceful mountain setting, with sweeping view and a creek just below the deck, is lush and green with excellent hiking and mountain biking right outside the door. It is nicely situated a half hour drive above the summer heat of Penticton’s wineries and vineyards, beaches and boating, golf, shopping, spa services, movie theater, restaurants and more.

About the host
Hosted by Gregg and Lisa Bronn
The San Juan Islands is our home eight months of the year and we call Apex Mountain home for the ski season. Playing with family and friends is our favorite thing to do! We enjoy all manner of play in the great outdoors, boating, crafting and hosting. We love to host our family and friends both on the island and the mountain.
Why they chose this property
We love Apex Mountain Ski Resort! We bought property here because Apex is a small, friendly community with a lot of fantastic skiers, challenging, powder-filled north-facing steeps, plenty of light powder, and perfect terrain for all levels. Apex is never over crowded like the big resorts, it boasts short lift lines and less expensive ski passes than most areas. The Okanagan boasts 300 days of sunshine per year, ensuring plenty of bluebird ski days with dumps of champagne powder in between. We think it'll become a favorite for you as well. We scored when we bought our property and built a chalet at Apex! It has exceptional ski-in/ski-out right from our door onto Grandfather’s Trail! The sunrise from the hot tub is gorgeous, with a 180 degree view over forested mountains down to the Okanagan Valley and Mt. Baldy. We have friendly neighbors uphill and a huge unobstructed view toward Green Mountain.
What makes this property unique
Location, location, location. And late check out time to allow for a full day of skiing on departure day. The ski-in/ski-out makes it exceptional! The view out every window, the high ceilings, warm wood and propane fire, the big hot tub with 180% gorgeous view, the comfortable ability to dine and lounge as many as the unit sleeps in beds (so many do not do this), the super comfortable beds with soft, flannel bedding, the kitchen, which is super well equipped for those who love to cook and entertain, the unique floor plan which uses every inch so well, lots of roomy hooks and benches for all your gear right at the door, ski lockers at the ski-in/out right at the chalet, proximity to every activity you could want to do in the snow, and Penticton just down the hill.
