Cozy Krimmel Kottage on beautiful Mobile Bay is 45 minutes from Mobile, Alabama and one hour from Pensacola, Florida. It comfortably sits on Mobile Bay which flows into the Gulf of Mexico. The Cottage is close to Oldtown Fairhope, which has excellent dining, shopping, and antique shops. It's about 40 minutes to the resort towns of Foley, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach on the Gulf of Mexico. There is a bicycle trail that goes from our cottage past the Punta Clara Candy Kitchen, the Wash House Restaurant, and the Grand Hotel and ending in Fairhope. You can schedule eco tours at the Weeks Bay Nature Center and visit Bon Secure Bay.
The quiet and serene cottage is 4 miles from the famous and historic Grand Hotel with fine dining, tennis courts, and a beautiful golf course. A park with picnic tables and boat launching facilities are a mile down the road. The glass-enclosed sleeping porch provides a scenic view overlooking the sparkling bay and the evening sunset. You can often see seagulls, herons, pelicans, and mocking birds enjoying the breeze from the bay. It is not unusual to see the dolphins playing in front of the house. The sunsets are beautiful and on display every afternoon.
Fairhope has seasonal annual events, such as Polo at the Point, the festive and formal Black and White Ball held at the Grand Hotel, Mardi Gras parades, and the spring Arts and Crafts Festival.

About the host
Hosted by Cecile Clark

Krimmel Kottage is jointly owned by family members, and until last year included our 99-year-old mother who still enjoyed her visits there. You will notice that there is a long farmer's family table on the side porch where 14 people sat to eat breakfast and the evening meal. Lunch was on the run because everyone was scattered either fishing, swimming, or visiting neighbors. We had the opportunity to see many Jubilees while enjoying our summers there. A Jubilee is a phenomenon that occurs only in Mobile Bay and one place in China. Fish come to the shallow water at the shore and on the surface and can be scooped up in nets.
Why they chose this property
Krimmel Kottage was built in 1952 by my Aunt Gertrude Krimmel and has remained in the family over the years. We spent our childhood swimming and skiing in Mobile Bay and building sandcastles on the beach.
A large wrap-around screen porch was added some years later to enjoy the bay breezes as the house was not air-conditioned. In 2004 we installed windows on the screened porch and purchased the first central heating and cooling system. The cottage is completely remodeled, and we put a deck on the front to continue to enjoy the cool breezes and the beautiful sunsets.

What makes this property unique
Krimmel Kottage is near the old downtown Fairhope with shopping on Main street, the ice cream parlor, antiques, art galleries, and beautiful flowers. There is a wonderful concrete bike trail that will take you into downtown Fairhope.
It is convenient to Gulf Shores on the Gulf Coast and one hour from 300-year old Mobile, the original home of Mardi Gras in the US.
The breeze from offshore and the sunsets are very relaxing on the deck overlooking Mobile Bay. Listening to the waves rolling ashore gives you a calming and relaxing effect.
