Stones Throw, a cozy yet spacious mountain retreat!

Our family cabin, built by my father in 2002, has been lovingly cared for by him and our family ever since. We are now opening some rental times to others so they can enjoy the views, skiing, snowboarding, hikes, swims, fire pit talks, game room competitions, and lakeside fun we have enjoyed as a family for the last 15+ years. Our house overlooks Wisp Ski resort and golf course. Stones Throw is walking distance to the popular Mountain State Brewery where the pizza, cold drinks, and sunsets can't be beat. With six comfortable bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a large kitchen, dining room seating for 10, and full basement game room, the potential for a fun weekend or week long trip is endless.

This was a wonderful place for my extended family to stay for my nephew’s wedding. We had four generations. Beautiful, wide open space, very easy for my elderly parents to get around. Brandon was very attentive, checked in often allowed a later Check out when my mother had to go to the ER the night before. I would highly recommend!

Summer reunion

This was the 3rd time my family has vacationed at Brandon’s home. As always, we had a great time in the Deep Creek area. The house is so comfortable and spacious for our large group. Both the large porch and kitchen/dining areas were great areas to gather and have fun. Anything and everything you could think of is available for a pleasant stay.

Great Vacation Home

This house has everything you would ever need. The kitchen is so well stocked. Everything was clean. The biggest hit for our family was the game room. The house is very close to all activities.

Overall everything was great. House was clean and as advertised. It does have a ton of space, each one if us didnt feel cramped and had space to spread out. Back deck was really nice and patio furniture was in great shape. Location is in a good spot too.

Lovely house and very spacious.

Lots of space, dining table for 10 which is difficult to find, and lots of bathrooms. The place was very clean and nicely decorated. If you stay a while be prepared to provide your own toilet paper and paper towels. Brandon was easy to communicate with.

The house was beautiful and spacious! The location was perfect and close to everything! The kitchen had everything we needed. The game room was the best I’ve seen and enjoyed by all! The only downsides were the smell of the well water and the musty smell in the basement and the amount of bugs coming in both the front and downstairs back door due to the lights.

It turns out after investigating your review that the AC condensate pipe was clogged causing humidity to rise in the basement (Thanks for the help on discovering this). We also have a dehumidifier in the basement bedroom to help. We have also serviced our water filtration system based on your review and replaced the anode which solves the well water issue (thanks again for this note). As for outside bugs and the deck lights, not much we can do there. We always strive to keep our house in top condition and hope to host you again in the future.

Family Thanksgiving

We LOVED Stone’s Throw! Did not want to leave! The kitchen was very well equipped. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner and had everything we needed! It was so nice arriving to the home already decorated for Christmas. We enjoyed card games around the large dining table. Everyone said the beds were comfortable. We highly recommend!!!!

Beyond Expectations

We spent a week with some of our family here. I have never stayed anywhere that was stocked so well with every dish...pans and utensils plus extras as was this house. I don't think you could have wanted anything that was not provided. Large, clean and comfortable. Nice surroundings too.. All the kids.....big and small had a great time!

Great Family Retreat House

We stayed here over Christmas and had the best time! The house is in great condition and was in super clean condition. Bringing our own bedsheets was a bit of a pain but hey, at least you know it's clean! There was ample cooking supplies and toys for the kids to play with as well as board games and puzzles (without missing peices!) You can tell the owners also spend time in the house as everything has a warm homely feel and all the little things you might need ( a pair of scissors or a screwdriver to adjust bindings) are there in the house. Overall we're super glad we chose this house!

Autumn Getaway

We had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful property. It was a perfect fit for our group of 12. The kitchen & dining room were spacious & well stocked. Meal prep & eating together was easy and fun. All the bedrooms & bathrooms were large, clean, and well decorated. The living room & game room easily accommodated all of us watching tv, playing pool, shuffle board, card games, etc. We loved the backyard fire pit. The house & surrounding neighborhood were peaceful, wooded, with nice wildlife when taking walks. The location was perfect for day trips, sightseeing, restaurants, etc. We’re already hoping to return next fall and stay at Stones Throw again.

Weekend rafting trip

Overall, great experience: Very nice and clean property. Brandon was responsive with any questions leading up to our stay. The only opportunity is that I didn’t realize sheets and towels weren’t included. Though it does say it in the house rules, I missed it. This is different than other rental properties I stayed at. Luckily we caught this prior to the trip and brought them.

Wonderful property and location

Because of CoVid we were a group of 7, instead of 11. This home is very spacious and very well stocked. We found it clean and the owner was very quick to respond to any questions we had. The beds were all comfortable and we found everything we needed in the kitchen for our holiday meal. Our group enjoyed hiking in the area during the day and the game room downstairs each evening for ping pong, darts, and shuffleboard competition. The large TV screen was great for movies. Thank you for sharing your home with us! If we return to the area we will be certain to reserve this property again!

Fantastic house, plenty of space, everything you need for a great week away

The house was fantastic! Plenty of room for 3 families to spread out! We loved the game room downstairs and lots of board games and DVDs. All bedrooms were very spacious. We did long distance learning for the kids during the week and everyone had their own space and WiFi worked great! Deck had a lot of room and comfy seating. Loved that there was a space for the kids of hangout separate from the adults. Great area, close to the brewery. Short drive to Deep Creek Lake state park for beach and hiking trails. Short drive to swallow falls for hiking and waterfalls. Great weather, and plenty of space for outdoor fun- basketball and fire pit were both a huge hit!

Looking forward to next time!

Our family of 10 (ages 60 to age 1) celebrated Thanksgiving at this lovely cabin. The cabin itself is massive and cozy at the same time. It is clear that this cabin was built with love. The kitchen is huge and well stocked (more so than mine!). Each bedroom is large and has a private bath, which was appreciated. Gathering in the great room with the fire, playing games, and watching movies was a hit. The kids enjoyed the Christmas tree and were hopeful for a visit from Santa (hahah). Having a large enough table for us to enjoy meals all together was perfect. Under the kitchen table is a perfect place for toddlers to play "fort" we discovered :) Day 3 we woke up to 2 inches of snow - which was beautiful. We will definitely want to visit again!

Fantastic End of Summary Stay

My group and I all had a blast staying here. The house is so much larger than it looks in the photos and had everything we could've asked for. The great room and kitchen was awesome for gathering and hanging out with friends/family. The deck had a lot of space and even though it rained intermittently throughout our trip the house was perfectly suited to provide us everything we needed in that case. Due to the rain we didn't even get out to the lake but that didn't matter. We love to cook and the kitchen was well stocked with great appliances, utensils, and cookware. We were able to enjoy the firepit the last night which was great and the basement game room area was a lovely touch. The bedrooms were clean, organized, and extremely roomy. Lastly Brandon was very communicative and the check-in/check-out process was smooth. Everything felt clean and sanitized and at no point felt dangerous with renting during the covid era. I would definitely rent again and will be bookmarking the location for future reference. Thanks again!
