Really excellent stay just outside of Custer. Nice cabin, great location butting up to National Forest. Pet friendly and good communication. Family had a great time!
The log cabin was lovely! Very comfortable, nicely decorated and the kitchen had everything we needed for preparing our meals. We also enjoyed sitting out on the back deck and using the grill. The cabin is set on a beautiful lot with many large trees. We enjoyed walking around the property. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and will definitely plan on coming back.
Nice house in the country. Beautiful surroundings. Peaceful and quiet. Dined on the back porch most every meal and used the outside cooking grill. Kitchen had everything we needed.
We recently stayed at this gorgeous cabin. We came to South Dakota to renew our vows. We had a wonderful little ceremony in the back yard. The photos of the cabin really do not give it enough credit. We slept with our windows open every night. It was so peaceful. It was truly a wonderful place to stay and we will be back!
Amazing Cabin far enough out, but still close to town. Beautiful sunrises in the morning off the back deck. They have a little hidden gnome village you can find with the kids, which is fun and got us outside. House was extremely clean and organized. There was so many amenities they offered as far as kitchen, utensils and spices. Clean towels and a washer and dryer and it even had a covered carport. The house had AC as well as the fire pit and a grill both with propane, worked great! The only downside was there was landscaping tools and debris scattered throughout the property by the driveway but still worth the visit! Looking forward to our next trip there.
We had two small families, 2 kids age 9 & 10. Stayed a Tuesday through Saturday, saw all the great stuff in Custer State Park and surrounding areas. This property is extremely conveniently located for all the things. Kids loved running around and exploring behind the house. Good hiking right down the road in the national forest. Very clean and amenable to our older black lab. Only complaint is that the kitchen utensils were sparse / odd — no sharp knives, no corkscrew, but a bunch of pie and cake serving utensils.. just kind of unhelpful for basic family dinners. Still, highly recommend.
Great spot just far enough from town to be secluded and quiet but close enough if you need something from the grocery store or a quick bite out. The cabin is very nicely decorated, kitchen is well stocked and the bed was very comfortable. Close to so many attractions, hiking and biking. Great time and we’d love stay here again.
Thank you for renting us the cabin for the week. It was very nice and a great location in the Black Hills. We really enjoyed our stay and had a great time. Also thank you for going "above and beyond" searching for something that was lost, it was very kind and much appreciated!
Great home with a lodge feel. Well apportioned with cooking utensils etc. Views out every window for wildlife viewing. Outstanding porch and back deck for meals. The map on VRBO shows the site East of Custer, however it is actually located 6 miles west of Custer. Minor inconvenience if you spend each day in Black hills, Mount Rushmore or State Park. Will book again
Except for check in (VRBO told us to contact the owner, but the owner thought VRBO had given us instructions, waited over an hour to get in), I would have given this a 5. The cabin is perfect for exploring the area, Seating on outside patio and in kitchen area, kitchen well stocked and it is so quiet. Loved the cows roaming in the woods! I would stay here again! Thank you!

Review
.Very clean, comfortable, roomy, well ventilated. Lots of dust from the road - had to continually clean the bikes. Also - owner, servicemen, and deliverymen were frequently at the address; made privacy a bit of a concern. All in all a nice stay.
So check in time says 1pm I showed up at 1 only to find the cleaning lady she says check in isn’t until 430. I left message with owner no answer back no signal up there without the WiFi so I sat in my car til some of the other family got there. We cleaned the fridge shelves before we put our food in. And the couch is well worn and ripped. But after all the issues we had a great time and enjoyed being close to Custer
The property was great- lots of room for us but we did have to move knickknacks to have a place to put our stuff. Everything was clean and ready to go when we got there except the refrigerator- found a plate of food covered in foil in there and needed to wipe down shelves before loaded our food.
The owners were helpful with things to do in Custer and kept us informed about what was happening in town. It was a little weird when they came over the day before we left to mow the yard and packages were delivered for them while we were there.
I was concerned about the master bedroom bed- the footboard was a little big and awkward to get around especially in the dark. And if you ever repaint the upstairs bathroom, can you move the mirror down a little- I know I am short but not that short and all I could see in the mirror was the top of my head. (and it was good that I was short or I would have hit my head on the TV in the master bedroom every time I got out of bed).
All in all, we love Custer and would stay here again!
We loved the home and having AC was an extra perk in the really hot weather we had.
Wish the back deck was a bit more picturesque… large tank and tarp shed kind of ruined the view so we ate our meals on the front deck.
Owners were super responsive to our need for more grill propane.
Lovely house! Well stocked!
This is my third, and best, cabin I’ve stayed in for our annual vacations. This cabin is well furnished from the bedrooms, to the living room, to the front porch and back deck.
The setting is gorgeous. It is 6 miles outside of Custer which gets you away from the crowds while being close enough to go in for supplies.
Situated for a short drive to any Black Hills attraction. We visited Wind Cave NP, Custer SP, Deadwood, and many things in between.
I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone and will stay again if in the area.
