We come to town every year for our annual father/son duck hunting trip and this property never disappoints. Will continue to book every year that we can
We needed to fit OBX into 2 days. It was half the price within a driveable distance. Very cozy cabin with all the amenities. We really enjoyed the outdoor fireplace. Even though in a wetlands area with mosquitoes, the owners had 6 mosquito deterant devices that worked extremely well. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Immaculate, charming farmhouse with a fantastic outdoor space. The owner is quick to respond to any questions. We would definitely stay here again in the future. Thank you!
Great place to get away. The local wildlife was great to see including the (Cranes and Black Bear). We all had a great week long Get-A-Way...
And can't say enough about all the helpful messages from Debbie.
Hyde and Seek provided the ideal setting for my son and me to delve into the wonders of the local nature preserve and the expansive Gull Rock game lands. The accommodation was equipped with every amenity we could possibly want, ensuring our stay was comfortable and convenient. Moreover, Debie stood out with her exceptional communication skills, making our experience even more seamless and enjoyable.
Debbie was fabulous and answered all my crazy tourist questions I had to make the most of our time on the coast. House is clean and has everything you could ever need and more. Beach is about an hour drive and fishing is available down the street. Thanks again for the great stay!
The farm house always pleases!!! Clean and as comfortable at home, kitchen is stocked just like my home. Debbie is the nicest most helpful person you could ever meet!! This will be our new home away from home.

We arrived a little late on a Friday night. Debbie stayed in touch using text and explained that the back door would be open and the key on a table in the kitchen. Great communication. There are two bedrooms, one up and one down. The kitchen is well stocked. You feel like you are at home! Debbie and Wilson are a wealth of information. It is somewhat remote from the Outer Banks - about 45 minutes away but well worth the drive. During the season you can visit the docks in Englehard and see the shrimpers working. Great place to visit and stay.
Quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of OBX
My family had a lovely stay. The house was very clean and filled with wonderful amenities. The kitchen was fully stocked with what we needed plus more. There is a Hamilton coffee maker and coffee pods were available, which was wonderful because I forgot to bring coffee. We played on the swing, looked for fish in the creek and made smores over the campfire. I had hoped the kayaks could be used in the water in front of the house (and maybe they could have) when I asked Debbie about them she graciously offered to take them down to the Sound for us. She also offered a paddle boat but we didn't end up making time to play on the water. We spent most of our time at the Outer Banks which is about an hour away.
We arrived on a Monday night at 7pm. We discovered the restaurants are closed on Monday's. The Dollar General saved the day, we bought frozen pizza and cooked it in the oven at the house.
Debbie was a wonderful host. We definitely recommend anyone looking for a clean and quiet getaway to stay here.
We drove up to the house at sunset. It was beyond gorgeous to look out over the fields behind the house and the river in front. The house itself was amazing inside and out, the pictures do not do it justice! If you want a calm vacation, where you really barely even see cars and very few other people, this is the place! The beds were super comfy and it really felt like home there. While it was an hour away from the closest beach, there was plenty for us to do! Debbie provides kayaks and bikes and cable tv and board games, and was around to be exceedingly helpful! She was super communicative from even before our stay. We spent our first day at the beach in Nags Head, then drove out to Engelhard to spend the evening and the rest of the weekend. The house had a very useful kitchen, and Debbie was super responsive about what was there while we were buying groceries in Nags Head (which I highly recommend doing and am glad we did, there is a small grocery store in Engelhard, but I have food allergies and it would have been difficult for me to find food I could eat there). On Saturday, we took a leisurely morning and then Debbie drove the kayaks down to the sound for us so we could picnic and spend the afternoon fishing and kayaking! We didn't catch anything, but it was still a great afternoon. For dinner, we went to the local restaurant Martelles, which had excellent prices and even better food. We rode bikes after dinner into another gorgeous sunset on the calm, country road that goes in front of the house. On Sunday, we packed up and headed back to Nags Head for the day before heading home. We absolutely loved Hyde and Sleep and would love to come back soon!
Debbie, our hostess, is an exceptional property manager. She works hard to give her guests the best the property has to offer.
If you want to see thousands of swans, geese and ducks, Hyde County is the place.
The people of Hyde County are down to earth and easy to like. Great place to visit and to find nature’s bounty.
The home was beautiful. Breath of fresh air away from the busy city and beaches. Very cozy and quiet. Loved the chance to get out and shut off our phones. Very spotty signal, so worked out great!
Amazing little place. Had a great atmosphere. Extremely clean and well stocked for guests. Owner was extremely nice and answered any questions I had. Will defiantly stay there again when coming to town!
The property is attractive and well maintained. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen is functional with dishes and pans for usage. They even provide a kayak and bicycles. It's about 50mins from the Outer Banks. The property is a bargain. Go enjoy a quiet time of rest.
