Cow Camp: A Quiet Cozy Cottage w Mountain Vistas & A River Runs Through It
A delightful little "camp themed" stand alone cottage with a breath taking view of the Wallowa Mountains. You will watch the cattle graze and the snow caps glisten in the sun, or the thunder roll, depending on the day in Wallowa County! But you can be sure it's all beautiful! There is a community deck across the driveway w access to a grill and chairs to relax and enjoy the pond. You can also watch the waters flow in the Wallowa River that runs right through the property. There is a trail down to the river where you can put your feet in, or move your chair right into the streaming water and lounge the day away. Cow Camp has a compact but fully functional kitchen unit and a private bathroom with a shower. We encourage you to bring your camp chairs. While camping is fun, so is pampering! So we've squeezed a King bed into this quaint little space to make sure you get the perfect nights sleep and are relaxed, refreshed and ready to go jump in Wallowa Lake in the morning! 4 miles from Wallowa Lake & 1 mile from town this little Oasis is a gem of a location in Joseph. Our mother Judy was born raised in Wallowa County and this tiny house is a tribute to her. If you prefer a quiet retreat from the world, well you can find that at Cow Camp too!

Stayed here in June. Love the area and hiking in Eagle Cap, decided to come back again. This place is just as amazing the second time. Can’t wait to come back next year.
Cute, cozy place. Quality accommodation (towels, linens, bed). Not within walking distance of downtown but quiet, nice area by river. No air conditioning and fan was a little difficult to operate. Cooled off in evening but pretty warm in unit during day.
Judy was very welcoming when we arrived. Even though she is right next door you would never know. Every morning I was excited to wake up to the amazing views. Very intimate setting. It was perfect! The only suggestions I would have is possibly a little fire pit on the mountain side of the cabin to roast hot dogs and marshmallows with the view. We will definitely be back!!!!
From the outside it looks small, but looks can be deceiving. Tastefully arranged, views of the Wallowas are amazing, sitting by the Wallowa river in the morning with coffee or wine at night is a perfect way to begin or end your day. Even managed to catch a 3 inch brook trout on my fly rod. Courtney the manager was delightful. Be sure to bring apples for the pony and horse.

Small Cabin
Very cluttered, if you have two suitcases, be warned there's little room for the second.
Very quiet and private. The cottage itself is not riverside but set back about a hundred yards. Access to the river is easy enough through the grass yard of another rental property. Quiet and peaceful.
We enjoyed our stay in this tiny home. A great location close to town. Cute furnishings and really comfortable bed. We loved hearing all the nearby animals and watching the birds every morning. The ceiling and table fans were essential to keeping it cool since we were there in the heat of the summer. I do wish the outdoor dog kennel had been better maintained and with more shade—we opted for the dog kennels down the road for day care which was very affordable and worked out great.
This cottage is small but quite comfortable. The bed is wonderful & the towels are thick & soft. Beautiful surroundings & great places to sit & enjoy our scenery & our coffee. Loved the little touches in the cottage.

Cozy.
It was a very cute and comfortable room. Quiet. And on the river.
Cute little cabin, very quiet and quaint! Great space for 2 people. No Air Conditioning but fans were there to bring in the cool night air. Would stay there again.
Thank you, Sheila! Our stay at the Cowboy Riverfront Retreat tiny house/studio was perfect. The mountain view and fun restaurants and shops always make this place so special and relaxing. Wallowa County remains our favorite wilderness retreat!
Every little detail is adorable yet functional in this “tiny house.” Also very conveniently located just minutes from downtown Joseph. Host was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.
Delightful! Wake up looking at the mountains, watching deer from your bed, soaking your feet in the river after a day of adventure, and horses surrounding your CowCamp!
Perfectly located short drive from town. We brought our bikes and rode to town as well. Tiny but sufficient kitchen. Property is country gorgeous and Judy is a superb host. Hope to come back and stay again!
This is a small but well laid out unit. Nice views of the mountains, right on the Wallowa river, and just 3 minutes from town. A very nice stay and would have been perfect if the internet worked better. The wifi router was too far away resulting in a weak signal and dropped connections. It worked better, and was fairly fast, in the front lawn.
Cow Camp is a wonderful little place to stay, ideally situated to enjoy the Wallowa lake area. Close enough to walk into Joseph if you want to, but far out enough to feel remote, and right on the river to dip your feet in on a hot day. We had a fantastic time and can't wait to come back
I very much needed a long overdue break to relax and unwind. This was perfect!!! Judy is a great and gracious host. The grounds, which you have free reign in, are fabulous. I particularly enjoyed some time down by the river, meeting Rocky the Rock Chuck, having deer pass by, etc. If you need peace and quiet, this is the absolute best place for that. I will be back.
Cow Camp is exactly what we expected! Quiet, comfortable, cozy, clean, and restful. We arrived later than we expected and found a friendly note welcoming us. The bed was so comfortable that we didn't want to get up the next morning, but just stay in and listen to the country "music" of the animals, breeze, and river. We enjoyed watching the horses frolic for a bit and then readied ourselves for the day. We were close to town and all its amenities, but Cow Camp was all set up that we could make coffee and meals, if we wanted. The owner is so friendly and welcoming that we felt like friends before we knew it. In fact, we have already booked for next year! I almost hope this gem is kept a secret, but that would be selfish. It is a lovely spot to enjoy some peace and quiet, yet a good jump off to a beautiful scenic area to enjoy good food and art. It was such a pleasant stay and a much needed reconnect for some slower paced living and relaxation. Thank you for everything! See you next year!
We loved the quiet, rural, ranch setting & Gorgeous lawn & flowers. Cabin is quite close to owners’ home & other rentals, all sharing the same parking area. However, we were always able to park right in front of this cabin. This ranch is close to town, but you’ll need a car. There is a beautiful & relaxing small river that runs a few steps from the cabin, complete with chairs to nap in. The cabin space is small, but nice amenities & small kitchen. No tv, but there are books & cards provided. My eyes are bad, so I would have enjoyed reading lamps. Deer did walk through the lawn on several occasions! Judy is an involved hostess & did sincerely seem to want us to be happy, which is not always easy as I used to be in the hospitality biz myself! 😉
