Your vacation starts here! Unpack and settle in after choosing one of three bedrooms. This house offers many amenities as shown in the photographs. Bedroom 1 is the Master with a King bed. Bedrooms 2 & 3 each have queen beds. This house has 2 bathrooms upstairs and a half bath on the first floor. No animals please. The Jacuzzi is offered during specific times of the year. Some exceptions apply.
This high-end home is everything you see, but what you can't see are the many activities located in a small radius with this house at the center! Borrow the included bikes and take a left out of the driveway to get to the bike path. 2 miles north is the Echo Lake Cafe. This breakfast/ lunch eatery has been around forever and that is a testament to it's popularity! 2 miles further is the turn off for Jewel Basin. This is a gorgeous hiking area for hikers of all abilities. There are spectacular views, mountain lakes, mountain goats and beautiful foliage. 1 more mile further is Echo Lake. The warmest, cleanest, and best water-skiing happens here. It's very calm so this lake is also recommended for: fishing, swimming, snorkeling, playing, and using the included three kayaks to glide through it's waters. It's fun to explore all the inlets, bays and islands.
Turn right from the driveway and it's a nice 1 mile walk/ bike/ drive to the Swan River and it's bridge. The exit of the bridge is a good spot to enter the river with the kayaks (included) and this launch point is called Kearney. The entrance of the bridge, on the right, is a 2 mile nature path to downtown Bigfork! Please Note: No Animals No exceptions. The Jacuzzi is offered during specific times of year unless requested

Our group of 4 stayed here during a visit to Bigfork for a wedding. We loved the house. So comfortable and we’ll equipped. Even though we were away a lot for wedding festivities, we really looked forward to the time we spent at the house. And it’s also very well located for any adventuring you are doing in the area. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!
There’s not enough words to express how wonderful this property is! The location is ideal, the house is beautiful & well appointed! Staying there felt like home. My husband, daughter, son in law, 11 year old granddaughter and I spent a week here & we all agreed we could definitely live here! The property had everything we could possibly need & then some, from the fully stocked kitchen to the beautiful, comfortable furnishings, wonderful outdoor living space & comfortable beds. The home was immaculately clean & the ambient lighting throughout was a perfect touch! Greta was easy to work with & prompt with responses to our inquiries. I highly recommend this VRBO property!
Absolutely loved our stay! Greta’s home is charming, warm, welcoming and comfortable. Greta clearly cares deeply about her home and her guests, and I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed this secluded home in the woods while we stayed in Montana. The home is situated perfectly - Big Fork gives you easy access to Kalispell Airport, Whitefish, Glacier National Park, and Swan Lake. Secluded but not too remote, the home is surrounded by woods and the deer come right up to the front porch- which is an amazing spot to take coffee in the morning and enjoy the peace and fresh air. Rooms are very well appointed and the beds are so comfortable I am going to ask Greta where she purchased her mattresses so I can replace mine at home! Greta has supplied every appliance and tool you might need during your stay (flashlights, emergency candles, first aid kit, etc) , including a good selection spices if you like to cook- and we do! The rear deck is perfect for eating outdoors and the little hot tub was so nice after my family’s outdoor adventures. She has even labeled every drawer, cabinet, and light switch to make learning the home very convenient and easy. My favorite thing about the home, though, is the decor- Greta embraces the pioneer/western and Native American history of the area and the result is a home that is so inviting and memorable. I have found my home away from home when we are in Montana:)
The property is in a great central place. We had a wonderful get together and enjoyed every minute. Lots of room for us to gather and spend time together.
Nice to have canoes to use.
Thank you for a great place.
Would stay again.
The property owner literally has thought of everything. It was the perfect place for my family and I to stay for 5 days as we explored northern Montana. The beds were cozy and comfy, the bathrooms were stocked with everything you needed. She even had 5 different ways to make coffee!! I would come back over and over and over again. Thank you for a wonderful place to call home for a few days. It was perfection.
The property was incredible. Everything you need is where you expect it. Greta was a great host and came to the home when we needed help. We will definitely be back sometime in the future.
This home was perfect for us! Plenty of space but felt very cozy and comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked which made staying in for meals super easy. The yard is beautiful. I enjoyed sitting on the patio drinking coffee absorbing the trees and beauty. I highly recommend!
I stayed at this lovely house with my three children and my father, and it was perfect in every way. The host had already decorated for Christmas, including setting stacks of Christmas books around the house, which made the setting magical for my three kids (ages 11, 8 and 3). The room setup was perfect, and provided ample space for us as well as my father. The whole house was perfectly clean, with ample sheets and towels, blankets and comfortable nooks for reading. In addition, though we only ate breakfasts and an occasional quick lunch there, the kitchen was fully stocked with any appliance needed to create a feast. We just ended up making use of all three types of coffee machines! We hope to stay again when visiting family who live just up the road.
This was the perfect match for our 3 generation family, looking to be close enough to Glacier for the day, but wanting a nice home to retreat to in the evening. The host is wonderful and responsive - providing us tips before we traveled that were very helpful. The home is clean, well stocked and organized. One of the best stays we have ever experienced on VRBO.
Everything was as stated in the listing plus more! You can tell the owner put a lot of thought and consideration into the property and accommodations. Any questions were answered almost immediately as well. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for our family of 5.
WOW! We have stayed in numerous rental properties and own a rental property ourselves in Costa Rica. I have NEVER written a review before now!
Greta’s place was absolutely AWESOME! So clean, so comfortable, so well appointed! Her attention to detail was incredible! Everything was just so lovely and beautifully decorated! Greta has thought of everything! Even perfectly placed nightlights and lighting on timers. The kitchen was better stocked than my own kitchen at home! Kitchen cabinets and drawers were labeled so you didn’t have to go searching every time for what you were looking for! She had every small kitchen appliance and gadget you could EVER need! It was just so well stocked it was INCREDIBLE!!! She even had spices (a LOT of spices!), teas, any and everything you could possibly need for making coffee - even a steamer and an espresso machine!!! The beds and bedding were SO COMFORTABLE! The bathroom towels thick and luxurious. The entire place was SO CLEAN! She even got a 4th adult bike for us! The 4 of us took a BEAUTIFUL bike ride into adorable Bigfork and had such a great time! We know without question where we will stay the next time we get the opportunity to travel to Montana! EXCELLENT property and host!!! Thank you Greta!
We were looking for a home to rent for two weeks with a yard and some peace and quiet (amidst our usual city lives), and Greta's place was EXACTLY what we had hoped for! The patio area out back, the different spaces to work throughout the house, great wifi, and a fully-stocked kitchen made it the perfect getaway and remote work space for two weeks. Greta was also incredibly communicative whenever anything came up, which we really appreciated. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
Beautiful home and very well appointed. All the amenities you could want. Great covered deck to sit out at night. Secluded property with deer and wild turkey visiting the yard.
Great location, though the main road is a connector between two major routes. Not horrible but there is some traffic. Generally quiet most of the time.
If we come back, we'd stay here again!
This is our second stay at Swan River. This time around our stay was as pleasant and relaxing as the first. Greta has thought of everything you could ever want in a vacation home. From tastefully appointed fixtures and features to all of the little things you may have forgotten to bring along...they are in this home. Location is terrific less than 2 miles from Echo Lake Cafe (a must visit), a mile from Swan River Kayak put-in, and just 2 miles from Flathead Lake (and Bigfork downtown). This is great place to stay.
We stayed for a week with friends and family, ages 3-45. Greta and Ron we're wonderful to communicate with-we had everything we could have needed and more. We immediately felt like we were home away from home.
The kitchen was fully stocked with spices, oils, espresso machines, tea sets, even a cigar cutter. The bedrooms (loved the decor) were set with hair dryers, flat irons, and lighted mirrors-no need to fight over bathroom spaces.
The outdoor gazebo was perfect for meals and games outside.
You can tell they have put a lot of thought into the care of the house and want to facilitate an enjoyable experience for guests. We couldn't have asked for a better stay.
Our family stayed at this property and very much enjoyed our weekend. The property had everything you could ask for. I highly recommend this property and we will stay there again when in the area.
From the moment we arrived at the property and (inadvertently) met Greta (the owner) we felt REALLY cared for. It was if everything we could have ever thought to enjoy or bring to a place for vacation was already there. Greta's eye for detail and design is magnificent. Nothing is out of place. Every lightswitch is labeled, every drawer, even item inside drawers (cigar cutter) are labeled. There are dishes for outside use, inside use, drawers labeled "junk", and it was just all so very elegant. If you are a foodie and chef this is the place for you. The kitchen is well outfitted. We only needed one bedroom (master) and the bedding and mattress were outstanding and comfortable. The quality of the fixtures are top notch. It's so very quiet at this location and that is quite peaceful. We never had time enough to take advantage of the bikes and kayaks but they are there for your use. Plenty of outdoor covered seating if you wish it. We hope to return soon. Thanks Greta (and proprerty manager, Denise) for a lovely stay.

This home was very welcoming. From the minute we walked in and read the welcome note on the table, this home was set up for a family or group of friends. The kitchen has everything you need, from a waffle maker to gourmet coffee stuff. My favorite thing was every light switch was labeled as to what it did. It is the little details that make a big difference.
It is a bit of a drive to Glacier; however, it is a very peaceful drive into the park.

Why they chose this property
My Great Grandparents homesteaded this area in 1885. I can still drive Swan River Road and Hwy 209 and see old cabins and barns my grandpa, great grandpa and relatives built. My grandpa's carpentry skills were heavily used on the lakefront homes along Echo lake. My relatives lived in and owned these properties well into the 2000s.
