Really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was clean and comfortable! Really appreciated being able to do laundry and the kids enjoyed the selection of board games!
Great cabin and very clean. Would come back! Very peaceful with beautiful views of the sunset! Fish weren’t biting too much during our stay but we caught some and that was awesome! Found some hiking trails with great views too!
Great cabin on a peaceful lake. We had fun kayaking, fishing and swimming off of the pontoon. Cabin is clean with plenty of space.
Cabin owner was super helpful when we had a Wi-Fi issue.
Great cabin with plenty of room to stretch out. Awesome sunsets and plenty of food options nearby. From a quick burger to a Wisconsin Supper club experience.
You might even see an elk!!
The cabin was very clean and the beds were comfortable. It was a very peaceful location. We saw eagles, loons, deer, and a baby bear. We didn't catch many fish due to the fact we had the incorrect bait for the area. It was great to have a boat with a trolling motor. The washer and dryer were a nice addition, also. We brought all our food since there is not a lot around there but we did go out to eat 2 nights. We really enjoyed the kayaks. It was a great place to unwind .
This vacation was just what we needed! We were so excited to be able to use the Pontoon and fish locater, even though we struggled to catch any fish larger than our hands. The house had everything that we needed for our family and was very clean. I would have liked to have bath towels provided, but bringing our own towels and blankets wasn't really that big of a deal because we had plenty of space to do this with. The communication with the property owners was quick and everything was communicated very well!
This cabin is everything as advertised. We traveled as a family of 7 - 4 adults and 3 kids (7, 12, and 14). There was plenty of room for us to spread out. While we didn't spend too much time indoors, we loved that we were able to all fit around the dining room table for meals and board games. We also spent one night watching a movie when it stormed. Otherwise, we were outside playing yard games and enjoying as much time on the pontoon. We spent hours on the lake; fishing, swimming, and just relaxing. It was a great time and we would love to come back again. Thanks for letting us enjoy all you and Winter have to offer!
Cabin was clean, and the living room and kitchen are bigger than they look in the pics. Used the deck a lot, there is a tree right next to it providing some shade. A heads up - the bedroom with the bunk beds is between the other 2 bedrooms so you do have to go through one bedroom to get to it. Wasn't a big deal for our group though. Kitchen has pretty much everything you need. Pontoon is in great condition and was nice to have. Fishing wasn't great but it was mid-July, and a local said the lake somewhat got fished out over the previous winter. We did find a few walleye and crappie evening fishing around the hump in the narrow section of the lake. Big contour lake map in the cabin will help you find the hump. You can get ice, fire wood and gas for the pontoon at Big Bear which is just a couple miles down the road (gas pump was down while we were there though). Biggest negative is that for some reason the local geese seem to prefer this lawn over the neighbors - goose poop everywhere. Have to watch for those "land mines" if you're playing in the yard.Overall the cabin worked well for our group.
Everything was great. The cabin was nice and there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was fairly well stocked with everything you need (except we couldn't find marshmallow roasting sticks - but not a big deal). No cable or over the air TV and we couldn't get the DVD player to work, so be sure to bring a Firestick, etc. for streaming if you want. Host communication was excellent and she was quick to answer any questions. It was nice to have the pontoon to ride on, however it isn't the greatest for fishing as the boat doesn't have an anchor and the trolling motor battery would not hold a charge, despite constant charging when we weren't using it. Some of the seats are ripped and repaired with tape which left adhesive on our clothing so bringing beach towels to sit on is also recommended. We did still catch some nice fish, both right off of the dock and also on the boat. The lake is quiet, not too many other cabins and boats since most of the lake lies on Flambeau River state forest. As others have mentioned, you can't swim right off the property but there is a nice beach a half mile away at Connors Lake. You need a state park pass but this can be purchased online as a day pass or for the year if you plan to go more than once. It's a little rocky so water shoes are recommended but the lake is small enough that the water is warm and the kids had a blast. The property view is beautiful and we had an amazing time and made amazing memories!
Overall the experience was good. The water amenities and recreational cabin were nice to have access to for all ages. The cabin was adequate for our needs. The lake does not have a lot of activity and is beautiful! Areas that may need to be addressed or disclosed from the host ahead of time are the following:
1. Dishwasher is not currently working, and the kitchen faucet and sink leak.
2. Geese visit the site often, which is very enjoyable, but it would be nice if the backyard were maintained due to the amount of geese droppings or provide tools for visitors to use if they see the need. It was hard for the children to play without shoes in the backyard due to the number of droppings.
3. The waterfront area is full of weeds. This area is not swimmable for children.
4. The paddle boat rutter is missing hardware, making navigating the water hard.
5. The pontoon's gauges and lights are not in working order.
All of the items listed above did not hinder our experience. We had a nice vacation. However, we may have adjusted what we brought with us had we had the information prior.
Great clean cabin with large living room and two new bathrooms. - a major plus was a washer and dryer. Flat grassy front yard to play yard games. The neighbors were very friendly. The pontoon was the best! ...especially for those who wanted to fish. The two kayaks and paddle boat also a plus. The lake was clean and large ...280 some acres. Would stay here again but I would remember to bring enough groceries to carry you through your stay as the closest grocery store is approximately 20 miles away. Also, for fantastic swimming opportunities Connors Lake is 1 mile from this property and has a beautiful beach/park open to the public.
My family really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was nice to have the pontoon boat for family trips around the lake and multiple fishing adventures. There are a few cabins around part of the lake but a large portion has nothing but beautiful trees and natural shores. Extremely peaceful, very few other boats. Lots of wildlife - we saw bald eagles, otters, snakes, loons, ducks, turtles, fish and more tadpoles than I've ever seen. Fishing was decent, but despite several follows, my family wasn't lucky enough to catch a musky. One thing to note is access to the middle bedroom is through either of the other two bedrooms. (bathroom access is fine and it has a door to the outside, just need to pass through other bedrooms to get to kitchen and living room) This wasn't a problem for my family but it may be for other families so I wanted to mention. The wifi works great but none of us had cell service, even with a variety of carriers. Thankfully there is wifi calling and/or Facebook messenger calling so it wasn't a big deal. Cabin was clean and owners were quick to respond to my questions. Very nice rental!
