Ideal location for our girls trip. We were able to shop several antique stores in Taylorsville and Hickory between our days at Emerald Hollow Mine. Home was cozy and quiet and met all our needs.
Host was very responsive. Place was exceptionally clean. Plenty of games and toys for kids. Neighborhood is very quiet. Took walks everyday. The beautiful wood floors are a bit creaky, so keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper or trying to sneak out late at night ;)
Lovely, nice blend of antique furniture and amenities. The twin beds were a bit slippery, my son slid off the side twice while sleeping. I had him sleep close to the wall the next night and it was fine. Comfortable like grandma's house and everything in good working order. Will definitely book again next time we come to town.
Liked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
I loved the home. It was very cute and cozy. Quiet neighborhood and close to Emerald Hollow Mine. If you love going antique shopping there are a lot of places to check out.
House was very clean and Kim was super great to work with and very accommodating to our needs.
I would highly recommend this house to anyone.
Booked this property a year in advance for a dance competition. Property was perfectly decorated and clean. All the added touches like coffee pods, bottled water, soap and games were a big plus! Our only complaint our the beds. They squeak every time you move but this is no fault of the owner. There are mattress proctors on them that causes the noise. Would definitely book here again.
This is the sweetest little house. This is the second time I have stayed here and loved it even more. This was a very productive work trip for me. I will book again when back in the area.
Our plans landed us here for the NASCAR All Star races in North Wilkesboro. The area was conveniently located for us and was a great area. I love this part of the state, it’s beautiful. The house was great, clean, and had everything we needed and more. Plenty of places to eat or get whatever we wanted very close to the house, some walking distance. Beds were comfortable and again everything was very clean. Host was very accommodating, check-in and out was a breeze and communication was very good. We hope to stay here again someday, highly recommend to anyone. Thank you again for everything!!
Very nice, located close to all the things we planned to do. This is a cute place very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet. We would stay here again. Loved our stay.

About the host
Hosted by Kim Brown
I am a retired teacher and mother of 2 college aged children. Both are college athletes. We have traveled across the country and stayed in many VRBO/HomeAway properties. After retiring I decided to remodel some family properties and list them on the site. I manage three properties on VRBO; they are located in Taylorsville, Boone, and Mooresville. I also have an antique booth and have enjoyed picking up treasures while traveling for both my booth and my properties. Therefore you will see many items that I have picked while traveling to furnish these homes.
Why they chose this property
If you are specifically traveling to the Taylorsville area you will find it hard to locate a place to stay while visiting. Most visitors must stay in Hickory, Statesville, Lenior or Wilkesboro and travel 20 - 30 minutes back and forth to Taylorsville. Therefore we decided to take this property off of the long term rental market, remodel it, and place it on the short term market and see how it goes.
What makes this property unique
Some of the unique things to come to Taylorsville for include mining at the Emerald Hollow Mine, rock climbing at Rocky Face Park (try the vertical mile challenge!), visit Shadowline Vineyards, go fishing on Lake Hickory, come for a 5K or one of the many town Apple Festivals!
