Cabin was immaculate, comfortable, well-stocked and equipped. Area was beautiful and the green belt walk along the river was really nice. Steps going down to river were stable
We luv the hill country. Actually came out to look at some retirement properties. Found a couple of potential spots but no rush. House actually reminded us a lot of my in-laws place from the 80’s. Very relaxing and the views & weather both were outstanding! Our host, Alan, was very friendly and on top of any needs we might have had. Very good trip!
The cabin was very nice and clean. The bedroom outside was very cold the first night. We turned on the heaters provided and it was very comfortable. It was very peaceful. We came for spring break with our son. We all enjoyed our stay there. Highly recommend it.
We had a blast staying at this secluded cabin on the river! The food in town (O.S.T & TJs) was so good. I can’t recommend this cabin as an staycation enough!
My family stayed here for a car event in the hill country and it was perfect! The clean and cozy cabin provided plenty of room, had comfortable beds with a nice selection of lines, and the couch was a great place to relax after long days of driving. Even though the kitchen was small, it was laid out very well and easy to work in. The stairs down to the river was an added treat! Great place to stay!
It was nice for just the two of us and our dog for a short term stay. There is no TV and the record player and radio did not work so that was kind of a bummer. There are four beds, but two of them are actually located on a screened porch and it was very cold when we were there, but there were only two of us so that was fine. There are space heaters. But it’s a camping cabin. It is what it is supposed to be. And for that, it is very good. We were not uncomfortable in any way. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The nearby town is fun and interesting. If you’re desire is to get away from it all, this is the place. I would probably stay again.
If you want a relaxing and peaceful getaway around nature, this is the place for you. The cabin was just what I needed to unwind from the business of life. Waking up and sitting on the veranda listening to the birds and feeling the breeze was calming. I enjoyed a quiet walk by the river during the afternoon and got to see some deer walking by. There isn't a television there but the record player (with Bluetooth) and the assortment of records was all I needed while inside the cabin. It is not too far away from downtown Bandera and there were quite a few things to do in town. I very much enjoyed my stay and will recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
We needed to find a quick place while visiting my son and this was perfect for my husband and I. And Alan was great at communicating in a timely manner. Thanks for the stay we will be back.
Cabin was clean and the area was quiet. Everything you need for a relaxing get away. We enjoyed sitting out watching the river and the hummingbirds the frequented the feeder out back. Great communication by the owner. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place just out of Bandera. 5 Stars
This place was perfect for me—the photos on the listing don’t quite do it justice. The river, which is just a quick set of stairs away, was clear and beautiful, and the green belt running along the river is also a gem. Tons of a wildlife—axis deer, gar in the river, a lazy porcupine, an armadillo, a few (nonvenomous) snakes, birds… I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.
We were looking for a place that was close to a number of state parks (so we could go hiking with our dogs) and San Antonio (so we could enjoy the city and the river walk) and Bandera fit the bill. When we saw Alan's cabin backed onto the Medina river, we were sold!!
The cabin is an older building that they moved onto the property. It's on a cliff overlooking the river (private stairs down to the river lead to a 2+ mile river path which was great). Despite being rustic looking, the cabin was fantasticlly modern. Heat/AC, all the utentsils and pots and pans one could want, fridge, stove, microwave, hot water, shower, etc. (Bring your own drinking water).
There is also a great screened in porch in the back. We visited in January, so barely used it, but in summer, would be a great place to eat and sleep.
Bandera (the town) has all the ammenities you wiill need. It's about 15min away.
If you want a relaxing dog-friendly get-away, with scenery right out your back door, we highly recommend this stay. Great host!
Lovely property- we took our two labs and they had a blast running round the yard. The only advice I would give to anyone traveling here is to bring slippers! The floors are quite rustic so splinters on sensitive feet did happen. Of course it was our kiddo who wouldn’t stop dragging his feet but still a good idea! Besides that great place, good location.
If you are looking to get away, unplug, and truly relax, this is the perfect cabin! It is located on a perfect spot on the Medina and despite the river levels being really low, we found a beautiful spot on the trail. My son and I loved playing scrabble on the screened-in porch and listening to records on the record player. If I could run away, I would run here!
