We used this property to host a staff retreat for four couples. It was well stocked, clean and perfect for our meetings and down time. It was found as advertised to offer a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and a quiet retreat. Plenty of space and very well kept.

We loved our stay at the High Life. The view is unbelievable and the home is spacious and very comfortable. We would love to stay there again. The drive into Black Mountain is quick yet you feel very much away from it all here.

Brian, thank you so much for the 5-star review! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay at The High Life. We hope you're doing well, and Yonder can't wait to see you again!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home was well maintained and nicely laid out. We were hoping for snow but we didn't let the lack of it inhibit our stay. Property is perfectly located between the activities to the north and the city of Ashville. Would love to return in the Spring to enjoy the views.

Sherry, thank you for the 4-star review! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at The High Life. Snow in Asheville is tricky--it's unpredictable at best!! Never the same snowfall 2 years in a row ;) We hope you're all doing well, and we can't wait to see you again!
We really enjoyed our time at the house. The Property Management company - Especially Kim, was very responsive and showed up not long after we called with somethings that needed attention. Be prepared for a drive up a gravel mountain road and a steep driveway- I would recommend larger vehicles and 4 wheel drive. The house had great view as advertised and was perfect for our family which had 8 people.

Thank you for your review! We are very happy that you were pleased with your stay.
We were very happy with our stay at the High Life. The house was very clean and well-stocked with all the necessities. Communication with the property manager was easy and they were very prompt with responses. We were a group of 6 adults and two small children and the house was spacious enough that we didn't feel cramped. It has a great layout that's perfect for large families. Views are breathtaking!

Thank you Karen for the 5-Star Review and stay at The High Life. We are so glad you were able to stretch out and enjoy beautiful views during your stay. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Thank you!
This property was absolutely beautiful. The mountains views are magnificent with big windows and the wrap around decks that help you enjoy the views the whole time. Black Mountain is a great town to walk around and shops and eat. Then it only takes 25 minutes or so to get to downtown Ashland. We hiked and zip lined and took a kayaking tour. We had an amazing time & the weather was perfect all weekend.

Julie, thank you for your recent stay at The High Life and the 5-Star Review. We appreciate the kind words and are ecstatic you enjoyed your stay at the property and also enjoyed Asheville. We look forward to hosting you again soon.
My husband and two daughters enjoyed five nights in this beautiful home. The views were spectacular the location was convenient to Asheville and the surrounding areas. Black Mountain is also a cute town. Would love to return! There is so much to do, five days was not long enough-great hiking, amazing restaurants in Asheville and a fun downtown area. Excellent vacation and the house was a significant factor in why we loved it so much.

Shena, thank you for the 5-star review! We are so happy to hear that you and your family enjoyed your stay at The High Life. We hope you're all doing well, and Yonder can't wait to see you again!
The house was perfect and had everything we needed for an enjoyable week. The views were amazing especially from the master bedroom. With the privacy location, you could wake up each morning and watch the sun come up from over the mountains while still relaxing in bed. The kitchen was fully equipped and had plenty of space and seating. The under counter ice maker was an appreciated bonus.
The location and views from the property are spectacular. Black Mountain is a quaint little mountain town with friendly people, and it's close to Asheville too if you run out of things to do. We had a family reunion, and the house was large enough for us all to get together but to also have space to ourselves. Communication with the host was excellent. We had an issue on July 4th with the neighbor's dogs running free and onto the property at all hours, bothering us and our two dogs. We reached out to the host and even though it was a holiday, they responded very quickly and helped us talk to the offending neighbor. A note, however, once the road turns into gravel, it's tough to navigate with a low-riding sedan up the mountain. We wished we would have known that ahead of time. A 4-wheel drive, SUV or truck would be better suited for the drive up the mountain. Also, the house needs some repairs and maintenance, particularly to the outdoor furniture as well as the decking and ceiling fan. Other than these things, we had a wonderful time admiring the views, the quiet, and the occasional mama bear and her cub sightings!

Thank you for your review, and we're pleased that you were able to enjoy your stay. Your notes concerning outdoor furnishings has been noted.
We enjoyed our stay at the High Life so much! The house was so spacious and enjoyed the views from the decks at all times of the day and evening!
The layout of the home provided both privacy and quiet but also a large main floor for everyone to be together.
Several reviews mentioned the parking. It was a little tight but we were able to get three cars there with a little maneuvering. We found it best to back in.

Susan, thank you for your fantastic review of The High Life! We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay and made the most of those beautiful views. It’s wonderful to hear that the spacious layout provided both privacy and ample space for everyone to come together. Parking can be a bit tight, so we appreciate your tips on backing in and maneuvering the cars – that’s helpful advice for future guests :) We hope to welcome you back for another memorable stay soon!
Really good stay. House meets expectations online. A couple FYIs, the house has a bit of a sketchy driveway, especially if it rains, so if you have a AWD car then you may feel more comfortable. We all had sedans and had no problem but the cars bottomed out in a few places. Additionally, there's lots of bugs outside so be careful if you have a bee allergy. There's not much the owners can really do about this because it's in the middle of the woods.
Overall would recommend.
The home and the location were beautiful! The only downfall we found about the property was the property management company. We had issues with the propane tanks for the gas grill. I emailed them Tuesday evening about the issue and no one came to replace the tank. We left Saturday.
There are a few dead, full size trees in the house. Not the prettiest to look at. For all the additional fees that we were charged for the management company, we were very disappointed.
Porches for days! That was by far our favorite part and renting the week of the full moon was an added benefit. Indoors was lovely as well and the ping pong table in the garage was a great distraction for kids. There was not much outdoor space to hang out that isn’t porches or driveway/road so while it is very remote, not a place where you can really send smaller kids out to play since it is on the side of a mountain. Overall we loved it and the kitchen was well appointed for making family dinners.
I had to work in Black Mountain a few years ago and absolutely fell in love with the area! I have gone back several times since and wanted to plan a trip up there to take my family for my mother's birthday! This home did not disappoint! The home was gorgeous, located close enough to the downtown area and had INCREDIBLE views! Normally, to get these views in a rental, you can have a very long difficult drive...Not with this one! It was conveniently located to downtown Black Mountain, an easy drive to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway! Plenty of room for a large group and a Ping Pong table for everyone to enjoy! I'd highly recommend this home to anyone!
