Suncadia's Biggest Rental w/Heated Pool, 20-Person Hot Tub, and 2 Firepits!
Welcome to Darrow’s Pond Retreat, the biggest and most unique rental home in Suncadia!
We designed this estate home from the ground up to be a resort within the resort, including 9 bedrooms *and* a 6-kid bunk room, a chef's kitchen with wine bar, a heated swimming pool, a 20-person hot tub, a separate kiddie pool with splash features, two giant fire pits, a movie theatre style media room, a rec room with pool table, shuffleboard and foosball, a covered porch with gas-powered BBQ and industrial space heaters, heated walkways to the hot tub and pool, a garage for at least 2 vehicles, a separate parking pad for 3 vehicles, and a wide circular driveway that allows parking along the side with enough room to still drive around. Did you read all of that right? Yep.
Like to cook? The home features a fully stocked chef’s kitchen with two Miele dishwashers, a Wolf double-oven gas range, a Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer, a walk-in pantry with an additional full-sized refrigerator, a double-faucet sink, a wine bar off the kitchen for cocktail hour, an ice maker, two wine fridges, and place settings for at least two dozen people.
Want to relax and take in the Cascade forest? This 8,000 square foot retreat house was built on two large lots that overlook Darrow’s Pond and the 5th hole of The Prospector Golf Course. Four bedrooms feature private decks that take full advantage of the view and provide the perfect place for your morning coffee or that “I’m in-the-office but not really” conference call.
Nine of the ten bedrooms are en-suite with a private bathroom and a King or Queen size bed – we designed the lay-out so there is not a “bad room” in the entire house. The tenth bedroom, a 6-bed bunk room, is across the hall from a giant bathroom. Two of the three bunk beds have Queen beds on the bottom.
If your kids are too young for the 6-bed bunk room, two of the suites include an extra day bed that are perfect for families with young children and the other suites are big enough to accommodate a blow-up mattress (some could easily fit two). One suite also features a loft for big(ger) kids that is accessible only by ladder, but can easily sleep one or two kids who bring a sleeping bag to sleep in their own cool “fort.”
Want your own get-away within the get-away? One of the bedrooms is the separate pool house, which features a Queen Murphy bed and its own bathroom with shower. The pool house also has a sink, wine/drink fridge, dishwasher, and an ice maker.
The large heated pool and 20-person hot tub are available year-round* and were designed for fun, fun, and more fun! The entire length of one side of the pool is a submerged “bench” that allows you to sit in the pool while enjoying your favorite adult beverage. Rather work on your tan? Then enjoy the entire width of one end of the pool that is about a foot deep and was made for relaxing in lounge chairs *in the water.* Got kids? No worries, so do we, which is why we built a separate kiddie pool with water spout features that is located right next to the big pool. (The entire pool and hot tub area is fenced in with a safety latch.)
Not a pool person? Need to escape the sun? Well then come enjoy the pool house that is just a few steps from the pool and was built to eliminate any need to go back inside the main house. The pool house features its own bathroom with shower, plus everything you need to tend bar poolside: an ice maker, sink, and dishwasher! Don’t feel like walking the 50 feet back into the main house to sleep? Or want your own private cabin? No sweat – the pool house (the ninth bedroom) includes a Murphy bed!!
Whether you are looking for a quiet family get away, a corporate retreat, a family reunion, a home to host your wedding party, a guys or girls weekend, or an epic anniversary or birthday bash, this retreat was created to shatter your expectations. Ditch the crowds and hang out at your own private resort!! Look at the photos for the floor plan of each level of the home (they are the last few photos as you scroll through).
The location of this 10-bedroom retreat cannot get much better. It is conveniently located in the heart of Suncadia and is just minutes by car from Suncadia’s many offerings (not that you’ll need them):
One minute to Battista Park Three minutes to Swiftwater Cellars Three minutes to Prospector Golf Course Club House Three minutes to Rope Rider Golf Course Club House Three minutes to The Lodge at Suncadia
Details on the Heated Pool, Hot Tub, and Kiddie Pool:
The large outdoor pool is open and heated year round.
For safety and the sanity of their parents, the kiddie pool is open between May 1st and October 14th.
The 20-person hot tub is open year-round and is kept at a balmy 103 degrees, free-of-charge.
Remember the paved walkway to the hot tub, pool, and 7-foot fire pit is heated, so you’ll be like the post office: neither rain nor snow will keep you away!
Events must be pre-approved and an added site fee is applicable. Failure will result in fines up to $10,000.

Outstanding home and outside spaces. Beautifully accommodated my family (4 generations, 22 adults, 11 kids, ages 1.5 to 79). All bedrooms were spacious with private en suite baths. We enjoyed every inch of it!
Another amazing stay at this gorgeous home! We look forward to it every summer! Thanks for making such a fun place to stay and we loved the downstairs improvements!
A beautiful, large property full of all kinds of things for people of every age to enjoy. We had a family reunion with ages from 2-75 and it was comfortable for all of us. It was a perfect week!
Beautiful home setup for an incredible vacation. The listing doesn’t do this place justice - spacious, clean, open, amazing outdoor area, beautiful outdoor views and amenities. Basement for the kids and teens to romp around, pool perfect for all ages. Best rental in Suncadia.
Perfect spot for a 50th birthday party with friends and family. Private chef came in and served us at the big table and the house had everything they needed.
The fireplace and great room and hot tub are amazing for a wintertime celebration.
We had a beautiful family gathering at this remarkable property for my son’s 30th birthday. The property was beautiful and nicely equipped with just about anything you need to cook for a crew! The pool and hot tub were enjoyed by guests of all ages. The outdoor living area was amazing and allowed us to enjoy the outdoors while being warm and comfortable throughout our stay. We couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable stay!
Many positive points: tons of room space, the pool and hot tub great, and the game room & pool table were fun. And the kitchen had all the tools to cook for 20 folks daily.
Various notes:
- sound carries, especially to the rooms behind the kitchen.
- there’s a lot of tech (connected speakers and theater especially) that we had issues connecting and controlling.
Overall, the whole property is above and beyond, great trip.
We had an amazing time with a group couple friends celebrating my wife's 50'th birthday. The heated pool and hot tub as well as the heated outdoor spaces were amazing even with the cold temperatures.
the kitchen was fully equipped with all we needed. the home is designed for entertaining and plenty of room to spread out both inside and out. We will be back again for sure.
This was our second stay at darrows pond and it’s hard to believe it was even better the second time around. They have added an amazing game room in the basement with plenty to keep everyone entertained! The movie theater seating was also a hit for the kids. The highlight is always the enormous hot tub and heated pool with is magical with the snow. The house is well stocked and perfectly maintained. An added bonus is extremely comfortable beds and bedding. We will be back!
The house is beautifully equipped for people of all ages. There is plenty to do. Beautiful outdoor area, loved watching the golfers try to go over the water on the 5th hole, and abundance of outdoor seating. The downstairs play area was fabulous as was the media room. There was plenty of utensils and dishes and kitchen equipment.
However, we could not lock the front and back doors with the key when we left. A lightbulb was out in the kitchen.
But, all in all, it was a fantastic place for my 85th birthday celebration.
Overall, our 21-person group had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property and we would be happy to rent it out again.Pros1) The property was very clean upon our arrival2) The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary cooking implements, and there was more than enough crockery to support our large group. There are two fridges, one in the pantry, that had enough storage to feed us for our 4-night stay3) The group had a great time with the miscellaneous activities (cornhole, arcade games, table tennis, poker table)4) The integrated Sonos sound system in the ceilings proved to be quite popular with our group5) We had a pretty good buffer between our neighbors, we never heard anything from themConOne major con was the hot tub temperature and the communication around this, especially since this is in the headline of this listing. We arrived Thursday night and tested the hot tub temperature, which was cold. The manager was messaged on VRBO and we were told the next morning that someone would be "sent out" to take a look at it. I had to follow up in the afternoon for an update and they said that actually they changed the temperature remotely (I did not receive a follow up message that they had already done this). The temperature throughout Friday was more tepid than hot since I imagine it takes a while to warm up. I had to message again on Saturday as the tub got cold again and only on Sunday did the temp rise to what is a proper hot tub temperature.
This was the best family reunion location we’ve ever had. The best part honestly is that every family had their own bathroom. No awkward sharing! The pool was well heated even when it was 60 outside (though it actually got too hot by the end when the weather warmed up). And there were tons of pool towels. The garage is huge, plenty of parking. Beds are super comfy, blinds are room darkening. The kitchen is huge and has dishes and crock pots and everything you could need, except pitchers. We needed pitchers. Fridges are huge. The patio is heated and the grill is awesome. And you can’t beat the view! Just a short drive away is Dawson park, with pickleball, basketball, tennis, disc golf, playground, and outdoor game checkouts. This place is amazing! The only things we would add would be many more dish towels, pitchers, and blinds in the pool house (we had people sleeping overnight out there and the morning sun was pretty brutal). Also the wifi, both the public and private networks, is pretty awful so be prepared for that. Other than that it’s awesome!
The house and property were even more beautiful in person! Everything was so easy and great with the host, and our group had the best weekend EVER! Everyone wants to come back again next year, so we are booking. :)
0 stars- beware of price changes after booking and excess fees
VRBO made me edit out the excess fees and total booking price. Our total booking price was in the 5 digits and the excess fees were in the 4 digits…..
The house was cool and all, but our experience booking and customer service was miserable. Long story short, beware of a major price change after you book (+$x,xxx in our case, bringing our 3-night stay to over $xx,xxx) and charging copious amounts in cleaning fees, yet expecting you to do all the cleaning. For those wondering the details:
1st: we booked through VRBO, confirmed the dates we wanted, and paid the booking deposit. A couple days later we were sent a request for payment which was $x,xxx more than what it was when we initially booked through the VRBO app. We reached out asking why the discrepancy and they claimed “the 2022 rates had not yet been posted”, however MANY of the other dates we wanted were already taken - so clearly others had already booked for 2022, and they must have been doing the same bait and switch to them too. Unwilling to honor the rate we confirmed at booking, we decided it was probably still worth it considering the amenities. We were wrong.
2nd: Right before check-in, we were sent a list of things we were expected to clean, otherwise we would “incur extra charges”. The two most outrageous: “you must wash, dry, and fold the beach towels”. We paid their advertised extra $xxx “pool fee” that was in the listing, so why are we responsible for doing the laundry?? Second was that “you must not leave any dirty dishes” - which I sort of get, but when you add it up to $xxx in added convenience/cleaning fees, they are really trying to nickel and dime you on everything. Will definitely not rent from Cascade Mountain Vacation Rentals again (and strongly advise others not to), unless you don’t mind paying THEM to do the cleanup yourself.

Darrow's Pond has 10 bedrooms that can sleep up to 30 guests, but the average number of guests is around 18. Like most large homes, the rental rate is set at that average (18 guests), and the property description and rental agreement both state there is an additional per person amount for each guest over 18 guests.
The cleaning fee reflects the size of the house and its capacity, is posted in the property description, and was also stated in the rental agreement. You were not charged anything more than what was posted. Like most rental properties, we do ask guests to run the dishes before they leave, and we also ask guests to wash the pool towels. While we built the house to accommodate groups of up to 30 people (and want that many guests to enjoy it), we do not want our next guests to have a delayed check-in because a large group leaves behind a kitchen full of dirty dishes and a dozen dirty pool towels.
The only other negative review we have received like your review was from a guest who hosted a 50+ person wedding without telling us, literally moved out all of the furniture in the great room so they could bring in rental tables and chairs, caused significant damage during the wedding, and then posted a similar review when we asked them to pay the cost of the repairs. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have felt during your stay, but perhaps did not fully appreciate the significant amount of work that goes into cleaning, preparing, and maintaining a house that can accommodate such large groups.
This is our second year staying at this gorgeous house. It's such a blessing to stay here with its 10 bedrooms and each with their own bathroom. So luxurious and relaxing. We love how well stocked it ways is. Thanks Darrows Pond.
We feel so thankful and blessed to have experienced this amazing home in its incredibly peaceful and beautiful setting. From the grandkids to grandma, we all loved it!
The property is everything that was promised in the advertising. The kitchen is very well stocked with dishes, refrigeration and 2 dishwashers. Great design for our family of 19. Kids loved the pool.
The house, pool and outdoor spaces are as advertised—beautiful! The management team is responsive and helpful. The kitchen is well equipped for making festive meals for 22 people. Highly recommend!
Beautiful home, perfect for our group! Friends and family spent 3 nights away from our busy lives. The rooms were spacious, the beds were so comfortable, and it was wonderful that each bedroom had an en suite. The kids (and adults) spent lots of time in the pool, hot tub, on the expansive patio, and around the outdoor fire pit. The retro arcade games were also a hit! Cannot wait to plan another vacation to this fabulous home, we would love to stay again!!
