Hayward Area - Spider Lake 4-Season get-away!

This property is one unit of what used to be a family resort on the Spider Chain of Lakes. We offer many amenities for year-round enjoyment. Summertime rentals give access to the lake via a private dock slip with power and lights, sand swimming beach, large flat lawn space for games or just relaxing. Winter features cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, or just relaxing in front of the fire and watching it snow. Hayward is a short 15 minute drive to excellent shopping, restaurants, and activities. NEW! for 2021. We have added a 22ft. pontoon boat for rent. The boat is at the dock and ready to take you all over the Spider Chain of Lakes. Contact the owner for information on pontoon rental availability and rates.

Very clean bed was very comfortable lots of amenities for the kitchen. Very clear lake. Rented pontoon Very nice. The only thing did have was flippers or tongs for grill but we managed. Thanks for renting to us we enjoyed ourselves

This cabin was beautiful! Had everything we needed and then some! Being able to rent the pontoon boat for our entire stay was absolutely wonderful!! We cannot wait to come back next year! The only disappointment, was not being able to see the lake from the cabin. Also, it was very difficult for me, someone with medical issues to walk down to the pier, although the walk down was not nearly as bad as walking back up the hill to the cabin. Overall it was the perfect anniversary getaway. Thank you Scott for sharing your cabin with us!

Place was very clean and large enough for our party of 4 adults. Two adults slept in twin beds while we slept in a queen bed and were comfortable. There were enough towels and paper supplies. The AC worked very well. Hot water was great. The lounge area had a TV and the internet worked well. There was also grills available but we did not use them. The grounds were awesome. Grassy areas in the shade as well in sun plus a very nice sand beach. For our week, we had the whole place to ourselves. We used the pontoon for one day and worked well. Personal instructions on how to use it was nice. The Spider Lake Chain consists of five lakes in which there is plenty of water acreage to accommodate all water sports. It was nice that the place is located on a small lake that is very quiet with calm waters. It should be noted that it is on a second floor with 18 steps but I would rent it again will all things considered. Very comfortable on a beautiful chain of lakes.

My husband and I used to bring our boys up here in the summer when they were younger. It was then called the Indianhead Resort. It has gone through a few owners but I was thrilled to see that the building we stayed in the last time is now a VRBO rental. The present owners have made "the cabin" a beautiful place. It has everything you could want for a true up north vacation. The huge screened in porch is the best! Spider lake is just as I remembered it. The fish are still biting and the loons come calling most nights. Even though my son is now in his 40's, he and his wife had a wonderful time! We never once turned on the TV. We saw all kinds of wildlife in the area, a coyote, deer, turkeys, raccoons and black squirrels. The Mohawk is close enough to Hayward to be restful, but it is a just a few short miles to stores, a zoo, restaurants, the Fishing Hall of Fame and many, many other fun family entertainments. This cabin would be awesome in the winter season. It has a fireplace that we didn't need in August, but I can imagine sitting in the livingroom in December for the ice fishing and skiing seasons. The wonderful hosts left us a gift bag with coffee and wine and fun packets of useful items. That was so thoughtful!There is a pontoon for rent also, just check with Scott. The Spider Lake chain is amazing. I would recommend this VRBO rental every time. 5 stars!

We have owned The Mohawk since 2002. We purchased it to have access to the Spider Chain of Lake and to be able to enjoy everything the area has to offer all year-round. Snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, water sports and relaxation are all high on our priority list, and this cabin make it all possible. The cabin was remodeled in 2014 to include a new kitchen, all new flooring, new bathroom and we converted the original screen porch into a four season room to be enjoyed every day of the year regardless of the weather. My wife and I live int he Twin Cities in Minnesota and love the idea of sharing this cabin and this area with families and people who have visited in the past or are looking to get to know the area for the first time and are looking for comfortable accommodations.

Why they chose this property

This particular property offer the best of all possible features. Having been a family resort that has now been sold to private owners; there are still all the features that made it a great place for family vacations. Located on Fawn Lake (one of the smaller lakes of the chain) you get quiet enjoyment of the lake and beach. When you are ready to do some boating or tubing etc., the channel to Big Spider is just a thousand yards from the dock. Speaking of the dock, you will have use of a private slip for you boat, There is electricity and lights at the dock for your convenience.

What makes this property unique

Some the unique benefits of The Mohawk include its location on the property. The building sits above and behind the small seasonal cabins which allows for you to retreat at the end of the day to private peace and quiet. The large lawn space near the lake is a great benefit as well. It is a great place to set up lawn games/tournaments, or just grab a lawn chair and soak up some sun! This is not "ruffing it", the cabin is air conditioned, has wifi internet, satellite TV, and super comfortable beds. The fact that it is a year-round place give visitors the option to come enjoy the second season in the area, with access to trails less than a half mile away!
