This is such a great location. Loved the fall colors, and the indoor fireplace. Great gathering rooms. Wish it was warm enough to take advantage of the pool, and outdoor seating.

We really enjoyed the welcoming nature of the hosts and the beautifully kept property. They clearly care about the property and genuinely want the guests to enjoy themselves and relax. 10/10 reccomend!
Really enjoyed our stay. Owners were in communication with us to make sure we had what we needed. Pool was warm and grandkids loved it. Lots of room in the house to play games on rainy days.
Great Property Nearby Everything Around New Buffalo
We couldn't be happier with this property. We had 11 people in our party - 6 adults and 5 kids. This location had a lot of room for a big family like ours. We enjoyed the pool and back yard, and how close we were to downtown and everything in the New Buffalo area. Had a great vacation and highly recommend!

Thanks Matt, we really enjoyed hosting you, thanks for being great guests!
This is a great property for a large group of friends. The two wings of bedrooms gives a nice sense of privacy from the main living and kitchen space. Great amenities including large pool and fire pit area. The woods right next door makes the property feel nice as secluded so you can have relaxing getaway. The host is very communicative and provides a helpful guide prior to your stay. Would definitely choose to stay here again!
The house was very nice and comfortable for our annual family reunion of 9 adults and 2 kids. We all had fun with the pool floats and enjoyed the beautiful gardens and nice patio furniture. Chris and Susie were very attentive to our needs at all times. (Only recommendation is that since bedrooms have no closets, empty armoires or chests with empty drawers should be made available for guests. We would also recommend better quality pillows and linens.)
Overall, we recommend this beautiful home!
This is a great property. The host communicated extensively with us, answered all questions, and did more than expected to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Would not hesitate to recommend or rebook.
Beautiful Home inside and out, as our Adult kids said "this is Awesome.....a great layout for everyone!"
Kids enjoyed the bunk room, and ample space for all Adults.
The pool was very nice, enjoyed this everyday! Pool guy came by once through the week, which gave us peace of mind on the cleanliness of the pool. Had a couple nights around the fire ring. The kids even played some kickball in the front yard! Some Adults took morning walks and jogs,
some even checked out Townline Beach, some mornings. Yes, that close to the beach!
A nice location, away from people but close enough to things to do. We enjoyed going to the beach, a fun park, wineries, golf and sand dunes....all near by! Union Pier is quaint and New Buffalo has a lot to offer, for the traveler. So easy to get around, in the area.
Chris was easy to communicate with and followed up in a timely manner, with all questions.
When coming back to the area, we will try for this home again!
July family vacation in Union Pier Michigan, July 9 to 16
We loved the house, especially the pool., but there were several things concerning the house we felt could have been better taken care of. The lighting system in the house was hard to get use to and several lights would not come on. One light was with the fan over the large dinning table. The others were the out side house lights, either we could not figure out how to work them or they just did not go on with the wall switch in the master bedroom and in the small hallway to the outside. The biggest problem with the lights were in the master bedroom bathroom over the sink. With my wife and four other woman using this bathroom the over head lights for the sink would work one time and not the next. and the two lower lights over the sink had no bulbs in them. I believe there may have been a short in the wiring behind the light switch. Doing the laundry for the week there were only 3 tide pods for the wash left for us to do the wash, so we bought more to complete washing of the towels plus before we left some of the bedding. While cooking for the week we could not fine a 9x13 standard size baking pan. All of these things we could live and work around during our stay, but thought it should have been better prepared. The weather (lots of rain) may have been treble during our stay but we all did enjoy out vacation there. My family really enjoyed the shuffle board table.as well as playing corn hole in the back yard. The wood outside was wet and hard to start a fire but we did manage to get one started on one night. Here we felt the wood could have been covered to protect it from getting wet.
Great place for large family. Being on one level made it very convenient with our young grandchildren. Large open indoor areas accommodate many comfortably. Kitchen fully equiped. The heated pool was a big hit even on the cooler days. Convenient location to other activities.
Group of guys staying and loved this property. Tons of room for everyone to sleep, pool and outside area are really great, and plenty of things to do in the area, even though the house itself is great and we rarely wanted to leave!

Thanks Mike, glad you enjoyed it, come back next year!
We really enjoyed our family weekend at this beautiful and spacious home. Even though it was October, the kids were in the heated pool every day! Thank you for a lovely weekend!!
We had a wonderful time at this house! The pool area is phenomenal and the pool water is nice and warm. The firepit
is huge and we had a beautiful fire! The interior and exterior of the house are furnished beautifully! Very private and woodsy setting. Our week went by too fast! We highly recommend this house!!!
We recently stayed at this lovely house and it was just perfect for our 2 families. The house has 2 wings and each family took a wing to themselves. The kids bunk room is adorable and the kids just made themselves at home in the sunroom and large family room. The pictures don't due the house justice - very cute and well decorated. The private pool was especially nice during the hot weather and not feeling comfortable going anywhere due to Covid. The owners really made it easy for us, supplied us with wood for campfires and even the fixins for smores. Would definitely stay again.
Place was decorated beautifully. It was spotless. There was so much space in the house with amazing layout that our group of 6 grown ups and 6 kids never felt in each others’ way. So much light everywhere. Every window looked out at the woods. Pool was great. Very clean. Yard was huge. We were able to play ping pong and yard games outdoors in soft grass in shade or in the sun. Even the fire wood was dry and flaky- burning perfectly. Did owners Susie and Chris hand pick the logs? Unlikely. But seems like it. I can’t think of a better place for a large group of grown ups and kids.

About the host
Hosted by CHRIS KELLEHER
We bought The house in 2018 and completely reimagined it into the welcoming retreat it is today. Nearly every corner of the 4,500 sq. ft. home has been renovated with guests in mind. We call it the Rambling Hideaway for its size and the way it is tucked away on a dead end street with trees surrounding the house.
Highlights of our updates include: *Creating a massive open-concept Great Room and Dining Room for family and friends to gather *Building Wing 2 of the house from the ground up, adding brand-new, stylish bedrooms and bathrooms *Adding fun touches like a 12-foot Brunswick shuffleboard table and multiple entertainment options *Designing the home with both comfort and convenience in mind, so groups of all sizes can feel right at home
We love sharing this house with others and are proud that so many guests return year after year to make memories here.
Why they chose this property
Union Pier is one of the most charming and convenient spots in Harbor Country. We fell in love with this location because it offers the best of both worlds:
Peace and privacy on our 1.5 wooded acres, where you’ll often spot deer and wild turkeys wandering through
Quick access to Lake Michigan beaches — just a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk
Close proximity to New Buffalo, Warren Dunes, wineries, breweries, restaurants, and shops
It’s a place where you can be completely tucked away in nature, yet have all the best activities, food, and fun of Harbor Country just minutes away.
What makes this property unique
The Rambling Hideaway stands out because of its size, privacy, and upgrades. Few homes in the area offer:
A private heated pool with a newly renovated deck and lounge areas
Two adjustable pergolas (house-side and poolside) for dining and relaxing in sun or shade. Fire table, fire pit, plenty of room to run around
A thoughtful floor plan with two separate bedroom wings, perfect for multi-generational groups
Unique touches like a 12-ft shuffleboard table, bunk room, Bose speakers, and strong Wi-Fi
Over 1.5 acres of wooded land with space to play and relax outdoors
It’s a true combination of comfort, style, and fun — making it one of the most versatile and memorable vacation rentals in Union Pier.
