The Old Arch House was the full recovery of a secular and historical property. Located in the center of Arc parish of Calheta, has 6 bedrooms, all with private bathroom and equipped with TV, with digital broadcasting and cable and internet. One of the bedrooms is located on the ground floor and meets the conditions necessary for use by persons physically conditioned.
The Old Arch House also has a fully equipped kitchen (fridge, ceramic hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, electric kettle and blender) dining room and living room with home cloakroom and even a reading room. The service area includes a laundry and ironing.
Outside and underneath a porch, there is a barbecue with a dining table for 12 people and a small garden planted with herbs. The Old Arch House has a swimming pool with solarium in an area with good sun exposure.

A huge villa with lots of space. It had everything we needed, the villa was clean and the host was very welcoming and was always available to help. The pool was very nice and the outside barbecue was an added bonus. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Madeira!

Great holiday villa in Madeira

A wonderful week in Madeira and staying at Casa Arco Calheta was a perfect choice. We were two families sharing the house. Very spacious almost felt like a small hotel. We had all the comforts one would need for a self catering holiday. Silvia was very helpful. The only small issue we had was that the advert said we could access the property at 16h00, but we only got keys/access after 19h00.

Firstly, the photographs in VRBO do not do this villa justice, it's huge! Villa was well furnished and Silvia was really quick at getting backmtomus if we needed help. The only improvement would be to have either A/C or fans, as it was hot at night.

Overall okay

We were a group of 10 friends looking for an affordable place to stay together, and this was the perfect choice. The house was exactly as described in the adv. Clean and big but not so well-equipped (we only had salt in the kitchen and not enough toilet paper) and the wifi didn't work well. While the location isn't the best, having cars made it easy to explore the island, so it wasn’t an issue for us. Overall, a great stay!

Brilliant family holiday

A really generous sized villa finished to a high standard. We were on a family holiday with 8 adults & 4 children - there was ample room. There are 3 bars on foot (we didn’t eat there but did drink). A car is required for shopping, only a few minutes drive to Calheta front for the supermarket but a steep walk so you could not do a shop and carry back. We loved our stay here, there isn’t air conditioning however which is stated in the advert. Silvia is a fantastic host and helped us with local information and even did a shop for us as we arrived late - massively appreciated. Would definitely recommend the villa as well as the area, we did a couple of hikes which were spectacular. Many thanks.

Our own private mansion with pool

This place was very spacious and mansion-like. There were lots of places to relax and a wonderful pool to dive into at the end of the day's exploring. We encountered some bad weather but the house was weather tight, peaceful and although high up on a hill, it felt very grounded and safe. There were little bars and restaurants within walking distance and a church spire next door to help us navigate our way back. The kitchen could benefit from just a few complimentary extras like dish washing liquid, handy towels, pepper (salt was provided), sugar and perhaps tea. But we did get a lovely welcome bottle of port and a delicious local cake from our host. We all agreed it would be good to have a few more hooks or towel rails in the bedrooms to hang the wet ones. Minor points only. The stay was fantastic and the host Silvia was awesome!

Everything was perfect!Communication with Silvia was very easy and smooth — she was always fast and accurate in replying via whatspp.We were a group of couples in our 50s, and the villa was just ideal for us. The spacious layout allowed everyone to enjoy time together while still having plenty of privacy. Each couple having their own bedroom with a private bathroom made the stay especially comfortable and pleasant.The villa is large and extremely comfortable, with generous common areas where we could all be together even while doing different things — cooking in the kitchen, eating at the dining table, relaxing on the sofas, working at the desk, or having an aperitivo in the garden. The open-space layout made everything feel very connected and cozy.The kitchen is big, spotless, and very well-equipped. Wi-Fi works well in the common areas (not so much in the bedrooms).All the bedrooms have comfortable beds, a desk, a large wardrobe, and a private bathroom with a shower. Everything was clean and tidy.Having a washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher was a huge plus! There’s also a lovely pool (we didn’t use it much as we came mainly for hiking).A few minor drawbacks: we noticed some insects (quite normal for the area) and a few pieces of furniture could use an update — Silvia told us this is already planned for this winter.The location is perfect, and there’s plenty of parking space (you do need a car to get around).We would absolutely recommend!
