Our cabin was AMAZING! Plenty of room and supplies. Kitchen was stocked with plenty of cookware and small appliances. The whole process was seamless. We loved our visit! Would have loved seeing a white squirrel or two. But no one can guarentee nature. Will definitely tell people about this one!!
The property was extremely clean and had plenty of towels and kitchen ware.Very comfortable and cozy.I would highly recommend the WHITE SQUIRREL CABIN.My family loved it!Wil
Wonderful home with plenty of space. Close to everything but in the mountains so you feel secluded. Owners are friendly and helpful. We had a great time!
Cozy cabin, was warm despite cold temps due to gas furnaces. Downstairs has a large bedroom with a king and a bunk and private bath, a living space and kitchen. Upstairs has 4 rooms, 1 with a twin, 1 with 2 twin beds, one queen and 1 king with a shared bathroom and additional kitchen. Plenty of room for our group.
What a great location with exceptional accommodations. The cabin is in a perfect spot and centralized to all the great mountain biking areas Asheville offers!
This cabin was very unique. We have a stayed in many cabins over the years, but I think this cabin has been my favorite. It was very comfortable. It was very easy to access and very private.
Our family made a weekend trip to NC to catch up and visit Hendersonville. We loved the cottage. It is very spacious, close to Hendersonville and Asheville, and easy to find. Check in was a breeze. The cabin is secluded if you want peach and quiet.

The house wasn't all that clean but it had everything we needed. It was close to everything. Overall a great place for a get away.
Great cabin and location everything you need in the cabin and in town. Love sitting on front porch listening to the birds and the scenery. Very quit. We will be booking this again

Our family loved the cabin. There was lots of room to spread out and relax. Good location too! It was right in between the areas in Pisgah Forest and Asheville that we wanted to visit. We ate at Papas & Beer and White Duck Taco Shop in Hendersonville. We even spotted the white squirrel a few times.
The cabin was great and we enjoyed our stay. Myself and several of the Marines that I served with visited for our annual reunion to celebrate the Marine Corps Birthday. Clean and plenty of room at the property. The 2 kitchens was a nice touch as there was plenty of prep room for meals.
Wonderful rustic home which provided a perfect Thanksgiving gathering place for dinner for our adult children, spouses and spouses' families. The 2 kitchens worked well for food prep. The oven in the lower kitchen was working inconsistently, but they promptly responded when we reached out about it. Plenty of sleeping spaces for us--cute and a little quirky. Enjoyed strolling the wooded lot surrounding the house. Saw deer, and a large flock of wild turkeys on Thanksgiving morning! The wood stairs up to the second level are very slick (they do warn about that.) I recommend installing some clear anti-slip stair strips to prevent falls.

Have a wonderful Christmas Hoilday,

Check-In process was easy and the communication with host was fast.Cabin was beautiful is exactly how i imagine, the layout and architectural designs is magnificent. The cleanliness of the house was not good. There was dust and cobwebs everywhere, floor was dirty, and the lanscape could do with a good cleaning the flowerbeds was bushy. But on the upside that did not stopped us from enjoying the cabin. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful and that was exactly what I was looking for.
We booked this property early in 2024. Three weeks before or scheduled stay, hurricane Helene ravaged Western NC. We were attending a wedding in the area, and it was not canceled. Darlene offered to let us cancel our booking for a full refund, but we wsited to see if the situation woukd improve. Communication throughout the following weeks was great and we were able to keep our reservation. The cabin was beautiful. Thank you, Darlene and Ron, for working with us during such a difficult time.
We made some great memories at the White Squirrel Lodge and surrounding activities. We were surprised that the interior of the cabin was so dark. With no central air, the upstairs was very difficult to cool. Disappointed there was no yard for the children to enjoy. Overall not up to what we expected.
Management team was very courteous and prompt to communications
I brought my family including my grandchildren to Mountain Home to show them where I grew up in North Carolina. The White Squirrel Log Cabin was the perfect place for all of us to stay together. We used the four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms throughout the stay. There are two kitchens and we used the bottom floor kitchen for breakfast and snacks. Hendersonville is nearby with its restaurants and shops on main street. Mast General Store is always a good place for additional travel gear. West First is a good place for dinner. The Cracker Barrel and Honey and Salt are two good places for breakfast and lunch. The October visit was just the right time to see the fall colors. The property around the White Squirrel Log Cabin had the fall colors in bloom. We were able to see the surrounding areas such as the Blue Ridge Parkway, Bat Cave, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, and many other places in the Great Smokey Mountains. The performance at the Flat Rock Playhouse was so good. Overall, the week at the White Squirrel Log Cabin brought back so many good memories of growing up in Mountain Home, hiking in the surrounding hills, climbing Stoney Mountain, and walking/biking along the country roads. Darlene and Ron helped with last minute items, and in preparing for our stay. Wonderful time!

Bryan,
Thank you for leaving a wonderful review. I'm so glad you and your family enjoyed the cabin and area. Fantastic memories made to last a lifetime. If you visit again, please let me know. Happy to help! Darlene
This is a fantastic rustic cabin/house with everything you need! The beds rooms are lovely. Two kitchens with everything you need for making big family meals. There is so much space the “younger group can have their own space! Numerous tvs and plenty of parking. The house is super clean and stays toasty warm. The views and grounds are great. We will be back!
Our family of 9 (ages 70-6) was in western NC for a family wedding at a nearby venue and it was the perfect spot. The variety of sleeping arrangements allowed for everyone to have a private space while all still being together.
The kitchen facilities were perfect for feeding such a big crowd - plenty of plates etc. There are many "kitchen gadgets" that allowed us to prepare everything we wanted to,
The children really loved seeing the white squirrels (or maybe it was a repeat sighting from one fellow)!
I certainly would recommend the White Squirrel to others similar to our group.

White Squirrel Lodge was designed and built by John Henry Hensley with assistance from his wife Joan (pronounced Jo-Ann), sons (John and Matthew), brothers and brother-in-law. Construction began in the summer of 1980 when John Henry and John laid the foundation of the house while living in a converted school bus on the property.
They harvested the trees and the natural resources from their land and built this one-of-kind unique log cabin and now have opened it up to share with you.
Why they chose this property
