Our host met us and gave us a info tour to help us get settled in. Our stay was very enjoyable. Our host thought of everything we may have needed . We thought it was very well equipped.
This out of the way retreat provided the much needed solitude we were needing. We enjoyed watching the wildlife and the view. The property is located near all the required services and we enjoyed getting to now the area. The road to the property was a bit rough due to the unusual amount of rain.
The property was very nice with beautiful views of the valley and even has it's own hiking trail that can take you right up to the border of Joshua Tree National Park. Ron was very communicative and met me at the house when I checked in for an orientation on everything and some history of the valley and the local flora and fauna. Conveniently located within driving distance to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree, this was a perfect spot for a long weekend in the desert! Oh and the hot tub is a must!
We had a wonderful stay at Ron’s. The place was very comfortable and in such a beautiful place with a great view. We really enjoyed the hot tub in the evening and watching the stars. The location was perfect for our trip to Joshua tree. We did a small amount of hiking on the property, but found it a bit too difficult for me with my foot issues. We loved getting to put our own light on the hillside to join with the other guest lights. The kitchen was sufficient for us to cook our meals. And we were really grateful for the washing machine. And happy to have a Keurig coffee pot and enjoy our coffee on the patio outside. And we were amazed that Ron supplied plenty of coffee.
The house was perfect at the end of the road. It was very quiet and quaint. Loved that you can walk up the mountain just behind the house and there were walking sticks. The hot tub overlooking the valley was so great. It was so much fun visiting Joshua Tree, and some other fun stops were the Red Dog Saloon in Pioneertown and the Joshua Tree Saloon. If you choose to stay here you will totally enjoy it. House had everything and the bed was very comfortable! Thank you, Ron.
Absolutely fantastic location and amenities for our adventure and exploration of Joshua Tree, Big Morongo Valley, and Mt. San Jacinto St Park…. And the hot tub stargazing is the “coup de grace”! This property is also complete with its own 5 acre flora and fauna reserve!
This stay was one of my favorite stays with VRBO. It was quiet, beautiful, and secluded. Perfect place to stay if you plan on taking trip to Joshua tree.
We really enjoyed our stay at Ron's place and our only regret was not staying a bit longer so that we could have fully enjoyed the property. We visited the Big Morongo Canyon preserve, which was nice for leisurely strolling through a variety of habitats and some nice views but saw many more birds at the house. We enjoyed feeding the birds (and bunnies) each morning.
Ron met us for check-in and shared info about the geology and wildlife of the property along with the how-to's for the home. The location was perfect for a day trip to Joshua Tree and we'd recommend a stop at Indian Canyon just outside of Palm Springs.
The kitchen is small (one person at a time) but well equipped with all we needed for our stay. We really appreciated the extra effort Ron makes for his guests (fresh water in the hot tub, ice in the freezer, boots to borrow in case of heavy rain, snacks). He's also a stellar photographer.
This property had everything we needed to make our weekend away from Orange County memorable. The home is perfectly situated for long contemplative views out of the grand picture window, the kitchen area is small, but perfectly efficient, and the bedroom/bathroom level was large and comfortable. The property offers hiking into the deserted hills to the back and wildlife spotting from every window. We used the barbeque for dinners, which worked perfectly. Water pressure was fantastic and hot water was quick to arrive. And there's a hot tub! Perfect for watching the stars, being alone above the valley, and enjoying seclusion. We hope to return when we can carve out another weekend escape.
A dessert delight convenient to Joshua Tree National Park
My partner and I very much enjoyed our stay at Ron's place. It's perfect for two and provides a quiet and private environment.
Prior to our trip, Ron was very prompt to respond to questions and booking inquiry. When we arrived, he provided us a thorough walkthrough, so we knew everything we could want to know right from the start. Though Ron has another house on the property that he stays in, he left us alone on the property and stayed at his place in Palm Springs. We didn't need to contact him during our stay, but I assume he would have been just as responsive if needed.
The space was comfortable and the small kitchen had everything we needed to prepare the simple meals we had planned. Since we are sheltering in place and prepared all our meals in, we had originally wondered about the fridge space since the kitchen has a mini fridge. However, there are two mini fridges (one in the kitchen and one downstairs) as well as a full-size fridge in the garage a few steps away.
When we were preparing for our trip, Ron had advised us to bring bottled water since the well water is potable and safe but has a high mineral content. We opted to spare the environment from more plastic bottles and use a Pur water filter pitcher, which worked perfectly.
The outdoor space is blissful with the hot tub, comfy seating, and quite a population of sweet dessert creatures. I fell in love with the Dessert Cottontails in particular. Ron has quite a wildlife lover and caretaker and even has names for some of the regulars on the property.
I definitely recommend Ron's place. One potential consideration is that if you have allergies, the upstairs of the cabin does have upholstered furniture, cushions and pillows, and wall-to-wall carpeting. There is not a cleanliness issue, but if you are an allergy sufferer, it might be a consideration for you.

This information is inaccurate. The owner has never lived on the property. The guests enjoy the 5 acre ranch property to themselves. It is very private and peaceful for every guest.
It was extremely hot but it is the desert lol it was so beautiful. So much nature and I loved the peace and quiet. I loved the little house only thing I would change is to get an ac unit for the bottom which is the bedroom. Everything else was amazing.

Your stay was during the hottest weekend of the Summer, with record setting heat. Palm Springs hit 121 degrees that weekend.
What a beautiful place. We loved sitting out watching the wildlife and listening to the birds every day. Ron has created a truly special place and it's really generous of him to open it up to travelers.
