Spacious, clean, completely renovated and updated Old H.T. Martin Country Store. Bringing back a piece of rural history, the Old H.T. Martin Store is centrally located between Athens and Lake Hartwell on US 29 North.

If you are in town for UGA football at Sanford Stadium, business, graduation, family reunions, weddings, or river sports on the Broad River and want to stay in a very clean, comfortable, memorable space, we have the perfect location for you!

Our property has everything you need for a relaxed stay accommodating up to 10 people including a master suite bedroom with a king size bed, a guest bedroom with a queen size bed including a brand new hybrid ultra comfort mattress and an additional guest bedroom with two bunk beds sleeping 4. The living room has a brand new queen size sofa.

The living room/dining room is perfect for large gatherings with comfortable seating area including sofa and loveseat , additional chairs and tables, a 65" ultra HD 4K smart flat screen TV with ALL the channels you'd want including ESPN, etc. The dining room table seats up to 10 people. We have a separate fully stocked coffee bar that includes Athen's owned Jittery Joe's coffee. The kitchen is fully stocked and we also provide a brand new high end washing machine and dryer in case you need to wash laundry after a long day on the river, tailgating at UGA, golfing or boating.

We are conveniently located near Victoria Bryant State Park, Franklin County/Canon airport, Lake Hartwell, Downtown Historic Hartwell, and UGA's Sanford Stadium.

Absolutely Perfect!

We enjoyed our stay here. It fits in the top 3 of the best VRBO ever and we travel a lot. The owners have really thought everything through with this rental and the things needed while staying. We came here to tube down the river and it was so close the the put in and very convenient. Thank you so much for a wonderful relaxing weekend!!

Great house for our bridal party

Super clean, cute house with beds/room for all of the ladies in our bridal party. Lots of added items included and much appreciated, like snacks, coffee pods, and even fresh cream for the coffee! We did have a little bit of trouble locking up with the electronic lock, but that might have been more of a user error. Otherwise it was a fantastic day, and I highly recommend.

Beautiful Country Get away not far from Athens, GA

The HT Martin store is beautifully decorated and designed. I rented it with family and friends for a football weekend at UGA and we had the best time staying at the house. There is plenty of space for people to hang out and talk. We enjoyed sitting out by the firepit one night as well. The owners are very responsive and helpful. The only minor issue is the door lock. They mention it can be a little tricky and that is the truth. We will definitely book it again when we plan a trip to Athens in the future.

The owners have done a great job turning this old country store into a comfortable, well decorated VBRO. We visit family close by for Thanksgiving. This is our 2nd stay. The owner leaves coffee pods and creamer and other thoughtful touches. The living area is very comfortable for the 8 people staying.

Football Weekend

What a unique property. We stayed here for a football weekend in Athens, but found the property to be quaint and charming. Wish we could have spent more time enjoying it, but it was perfect for our needs. Michelle has thought of everything. We plan to return on future trips and will block out more time to enjoy this one of a kind VRBO.

The General Store -- Home Away from Home

This property has served our men well for the four (4) months that they have stayed there. Our guys are a construction crew of four (4) men working on a jobsite 30 miles away. The General Store is a welcomed alternative to our men going to a hotel room every night.

Ongoing Stay at the Country Store

We have had a crew of men staying at the Country Store since the first of September. The experience has been the same since the start ... very nice place to stay and the communication with the owner has been excellent. The Country Store has provided our men an alternate place to stay instead of a routine hotel room. It gives them a nice place to rest and relax after a hard day at work.

We have lived in Georgia all of our life and we moved to Madison County 15 years ago to follow our dream of owning our own farm where we raise camels and other large breed exotic animals. We rescue all types of animals including farm animals, mainly dogs, and we live nearby. We have received the American Red Cross Hometown Hero award for our animal rescue efforts.

Why they chose this property

We are located in the beautiful countryside of northern Madison County. Our private home and farm is very close by and when the opportunity came up to buy this old country store, we thought it would be a fun project to renovate and restore a piece of local history.

We also wanted to provide a much needed place for family and friends to stay when they visited us or the surrounding area including Hartwell and Athens. All of our family and friends who have stayed in this unique, one of a kind, renovated country store have loved it so much that we've decided to share it with all of you too!

What makes this property unique

Where else can you say that you've stayed in historic, old rural country store in Georgia? Our store has amazing views of the rolling hills and dales of Northern Madison County, GA. While it's a historic store, it also comes with ALL the amenities to make for a super clean and comfortable stay. The property is perfectly restored with comfortable flow through the LR/DR to the kitchen and bedrooms/bathrooms.The front porch patio, which used to be the filling station gas area, is now a brick patio beautifully landscaped with planters including an herb garden. The side of the store provides an outdoor covered seating area with overhead string lights and includes a firepit and charcoal grill. There is plenty of parking so you will never have to worry about where to park your family and friends vehicles upon arrival.
