Shangri-La is a private, second-floor one-bedroom apartment in Juneau's scenic Auke Bay / Back Loop area, offering a comfortable and memorable Alaska home base for couples, solo travelers, small families, and guests planning an adventure-focused stay.

This property is especially well suited for guests who want privacy, parking, practical amenities, and clear access to outdoor activities without staying in downtown Juneau. The apartment includes a private exterior entrance, off-street parking, a king bedroom, a comfortable living area, and a queen-sized La-Z-Boy sleeper sofa that may accommodate additional guests upon approval.

The space has a distinctive local feel, with custom granite, stonework, and three-dimensional art throughout. Owner Johney Engle's craftsmanship gives Shangri-La more character than a standard vacation rental, while the layout still provides the comfort and function travelers expect.

The bedroom includes a king bed, wall-mounted Smart TV with cable and streaming capability, large mirrors, and a granite wrap-around desk. The living area offers a relaxed place to unwind after a day of hiking, fishing, kayaking, whale watching, or glacier sightseeing.

The kitchenette is designed for simple meals and easy stays. Confirmed features include a toaster oven, countertop cooking equipment, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, cookware, dishes, and basic kitchen supplies. The private bathroom area includes a luxury shower, separate toilet room, vanity area, and dual washer/dryer, which is especially helpful for longer stays or guests returning from outdoor activities.

Shangri-La is located on the second floor. Guests must climb one set of stairs to reach the private entry, but once inside, the apartment is all on one level. This should be considered by guests with mobility limitations or heavy luggage.

The Auke Bay location is a major advantage for travelers who want to experience Juneau's natural side. The property is near Auke Lake, Auke Bay, Statter Harbor, the University of Alaska Southeast, trails, fishing areas, and Mendenhall Glacier-area attractions. Statter Harbor is a convenient area for whale watching, kayaking, boating, and other seasonal excursions. Downtown Juneau is approximately 12.5 miles away, so this is a better fit for guests who want access to Auke Bay, the ferry terminal, the airport, and outdoor recreation than for guests who want to walk to downtown restaurants and nightlife.

Self check-in is available by lockbox. Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out may be available for a fee with advance notice.

Kelli manages the property and is easy to reach by phone or messaging. Text is usually the fastest way to reach her. Johney lives and works on the property and may be available for local suggestions while also respecting guest privacy.

Pets are welcome upon approval. A pet fee of $30 per pet, per night applies. Please note that Expedia's booking system (or other affiliated channels) may not collect the pet fee at checkout. If you are traveling with a pet and the fee is not included in your reservation total, we will collect it separately after booking. By booking with a pet, you acknowledge and agree to this additional fee. For extended stays, please inquire about monthly pet rates. Pet fees help offset the additional cleaning and maintenance required to keep our pet-friendly properties clean and comfortable for all guests.
