Cliffside at Sandcliff by the Sea is a beautiful, newly constructed, three story, 3 bedroom home overlooking Frenchman's Bay in Bar Harbor, Maine. Enjoy breathtaking views from balconies overlooking the ocean while surrounded by acres of lush pine, birch, and maple trees, with loads of fresh air to match. We're located just minutes from the entrance to Acadia National Park, and only 4 miles from downtown Bar Harbor.

This Non-Smoking, vacation paradise home not only affords gracious accommodations, but also provides extras and amenities one would not expect to find in a vacation rental. At Sandcliff our goal is to provide our guests with the absolute best in accommodations and relaxation. Sandcliff is nestled in on a quiet road with wildlife, woods, peaceful atmosphere, yet only four miles from the Downtown District of Bar Harbor,and only 1.5 miles to the entrance to Acadia National Park. This is a weekly rental only.

Great trip!!

We loved the house. We hiked and biked and explored Bar Harbor. We swam on beautiful beaches in Acadia and watched amazing sunsets. We barbecued, ate lobsters, picked blueberries and made blueberry pancakes. We spent time on our wonderful deck and even played putt-putt! Our host attended to all of our needs and made everything easy on us. It was an idyllic week.

Great trip

Excellent location. Close to Acadia where we hiked, lobster pound, ice cream and mini golf. All family faves! Whenever we had a question, Bonnie was very responsive!

Family Vacation

My family and I stayed here while vacationing in Bar Harbor and Acadia national Park. It was nice and close to both the main Bar Harbor area as well as entrance says to the park. We enjoyed great hikes, shopping, and lobster. This house had everything we needed. The owner was very kind and was able to accommodate us when we needed to bring our dog at the last minute. Would stay here again.

Beautiful house in a great location

We wanted a house that was close to Bar Harbor and Acadia, but in a quiet location that wasn't in the middle of town. This was the perfect house! The neighborhood is quiet, private, and absolutely beautiful - you're surrounded by nature anywhere you go outside, and the view from the third floor small deck is gorgeous. And Acadia and Bar Harbor are only minutes away! We were so happy to have such a private and beautiful location to stay in that was still so convenient! The house itself is large and comfortable, and had all the essentials plus some extras provided. The decor was perfect for Mount Desert Island and felt very relaxing, natural, and evocative of the area's beauty. And a great bonus - the host's list of restaurant recommendations were absolutely perfect for our tastes! Highly recommended!

Nice retreat in Bar Harbor

Nice, comfortable house. Well stocked with everything you need and more. Good location away from the hustle and bustle of bar harbor but still convenient. It is three levels so the ability to handle stairs is a must. We enjoyed our stay here. The host was very responsive.

Wonderful home

We had a lovely stay here recently. The description was on point and it was a very comfortable, clean and welcoming home. It was the perfect mix of a quiet location and accessibility to all of Bar Harbor’s attractions. Bonnie was very responsive to any questions or concerns I had. We were very happy with our visit and would highly recommend staying at this home.

Great week long stay with friends

We had a lovely stay for a week with 6 adults and a dog. There was plenty of space and we loved having a gas grill for cooking when the weather cooperated. Plenty of parking for 3 cars and a quiet street to be able to walk the dog were great. Location was ideal, close to the park, and about 10 min from downtown Bar Harbor. We did all our own cooking and the kitchen was sufficient for a rental, with some additional suggestions which have been communicated to Bonnie. Instructions were great as was Bonnie’s communication. Would recommend staying here and will consider again for future group trips!

Plenty of Room

The property is very spacious and makes for a great getaway when you have an older child. Our daughter had the bottom floor to herself and we had more than enough space on the top two floors. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to make a lobster dinner. The beds are very comfortable as is the bedding. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on the third floor balcony and looking out at the water. The home is located on a quiet street and is a short distance from town and Acadia National Park. We plan to stay here again if we are ever in the area.

Room for Improvement

House review My husband and I stayed here with three other adult friends. The main (middle) level of the house was fine. As another reviewer mentioned, it would be nice if there were more places to sit in the living area, as there is only room for four people to sit comfortably. Others have to sit in a kitchen chair. This level of the home was clean and bright. Outside, there were lots of trees, fresh air, birds, and we even saw deer one morning. My husband and I stayed on the ground floor of the house. It had a very musty odor like an old house that had been shut up for a very long time. I bought balsam fir spray from a shop in Bar Harbor which helped immensely. The shower in the lower level is TINY with only a small shelf to place soap. It would be nice if there were a hanging shower caddy in which to place shampoo, etc. The bed in the lower level was absolutely disgraceful. The mattress was completely broken down and sunken in in the middle, and the pillows were hard and flat. (Four of us bought new pillows and left them there.) On top of that, I found a spider under my pillow one night when I was getting ready for bed, and our friend had a spider in his bed (master bedroom upstairs) the next night. The friend who slept in the smaller bedroom upstairs said his mattress was in the same terrible shape ours was in. I dreaded every single night I had to get in that bed, and got next to no rest the entire week. It absolutely impacted our entire vacation. I could easily give this house 4 stars or higher IF the bedding situation is taken care of and pest control is called. Your sleep experience should be quality, and our experience was anything but that. I would still never want to stay in the lower level again because it’s dark and the bathroom and shower are so tiny.

Our first family vacation since August 2019!

We thoroughly enjoyed our family vacation in Bar Harbor and Arcadia National Park (hiking, biking, canoeing etc.), and it was nice to come back to peace and quiet at Bonnie's house after a day of wonderful activities.

We had a wonderful time. The home is in a great location and is clean and well maintained. Our dog especially loved being outside on the large wraparound deck. The host was gracious and had good suggestions from where to get and prepare lobsters and best places to go on adventures with our dog.

Great location and dog friendly set-up

Close to all the action, yet a very quiet neighborhood side street. Whether it be hiking in the park or going into Bar Harbor, the location was perfect. We were traveling with adult children and a dog. Plenty of space for everyone and the gated wrap around deck allowed the dog to roam without concern. Bonnie was quick to respond and check in was a breeze.

Bar Harbor Fun Family Vacation

We had such a great time on our week long family vacation in Bar Harbor, Maine! We loved everything about it! We stayed in a 3 story house on a private wooded lot and could see Frenchman's Bay from the master bedroom deck on the 3rd floor. Our hostess, Bonnie, was delightful to communicate with and very quick to respond whenever we had a question. The home is conveniently located in a nice area close to both Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park so it was just a quick drive into town to shop or have dinner at the many wonderful restaurants and also a short drive to Acadia to go hiking. We went on our trip in early October so the leaves were turning beautiful colors and the weather was perfect! We would love to go back to Bar Harbor again in the future! Marion

Nice MDI rental home

Clean, well appointed rental home convenient to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Worked well for our family of 6 and 1.5 year old border collie. We had a wonderful time the August week that we rented and would stay here again.

Quiet retreat

Comfortably accommodated family of three. There is access to water roughly 20 minute walk which we enjoyed for sunrise dog walks. Good location for short drive into Bar Harbor for dinners and grocery store trips, and Park access. Nice location to relax on the deck post hikes.

Great experience for whole family.

Great property, clean, quiet neighborhood. It's a short drive from town (Bar harbor) and Acadia park, and a bit of a walk to get to a Maine " beach" ( Pebble beach accessible at low tide at least). Views of water are partial due to surrounding trees, but walk-around deck excellent way of keeping small kids, and dog, in view at all times while they run around. Kids also entertained by wild blueberry fields behind house. Excellent working kitchen and outdoor grill so you can eat in on occasion. Property Manager Bonnie very helpful and responsive and was able to have minor electical issue fixed in under 12hrs of reporting, would recommend.

wonderful family vacation

Our family (including one dog!) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house layout allowed for both private areas and communal gatherings. The wrap around porch with comfortable furniture was a highlight. The neighborhood is close to Bar Harbor, but VERY quiet and peaceful. The view is diminishing as trees have grown, but you could still glimpse the water, and the woods were literally out the back door. We had a wonderful time.

Perfect for families. The first floor has a family room with specious living room, queen size bed, wetbar, and bath. Continue on to the second floor and enjoy living area, dining area, kitchen, and bath, and rest peaceful on the third floor that contains two more bedrooms.

What makes this property unique

There is nothing more magical then Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. My homes are located on a very quiet road, with ocean view towards the North, and beautiful woods to the South. Wild blueberries grow all summer in the woods, and if you pay attention who will always spot a deer or two. We are close to the downtown area of Bar Harbor (4 miles), and exactly 1-1/2 mile to the entrance to Acadia National Park.
