About this property
Frisky Fish cottage on the water
The land is the safe place for your heart; the sea is the wild place for your spirit; the sky is the imaginative place for your dreams.
With all three right in front of you, you will feel that this is the place for you. The Frisky Fish Cottage sits on a small cove close to the water with a shoreline of roughly 125 feet. Internal and external views of the outside blend into each other; choose the panorama either from the comfort of the sofa or from adirondack chairs outside by the fire pit. From every window or from the unbounded ‘window,’ the view from the sea predominates. When you lay down for a nap, you may see a receded waterline with fishermen driving by in their trucks; when you wake up, you may hear the lapping waters of the incoming tide and watch those same fishermen riding out on their boats.
The cottage is small enough to charm but not large enough to overwhelm with its one and half stories. From the loft, look out over the welcoming living room with its cathedral-like ceilings. The open concept design allows the sunlight to dazzle you from the wide windows that overlook the water. The kitchen and a breakfast bar are tucked in a corner - hidden away to be useful but not to intrude on the main grandeur. Or turn to the tastefully decorated loft bedroom with its attached half-bath. A downstairs bedroom and a full bath (with laundry facilities) complete the accommodations.
Whether you come here to relax or to work, billowing breezes, beckoning beaches, spectacular sunsets, winter wonders, available amenities and convenient conveniences complete the possibilities.

We arrived after dark and a long day of traveling so finding the keys and getting into the house was a little tricky but the house was warm and cozy. The views the next morning were beautiful and better than expected. Frisky Fish was our home base for sightseeing further north and into Canada. The house was exactly what we needed and we would love to come back in warmer weather to really be able to enjoy the beach and outdoor activities.
A clean charming place on the water with great sunset views. It was 30 minutes to a wonderful hike on Western head preserve, 15 minutes to a self guided far tour, and 5 minutes to Jasper Beach.
I was very impressed by this home. It was exactly as presented on VRBO. I enjoyed the view of the bay and watching the lobstermen come and go. The furniture was very comfortable and the house was set up well with anything you may need. My vacation was definitely worth the trip of almost 8 hours.
Perfect cottage for two people that came fully equipped. Beautiful views from the many windows. Very impressed at the immediate response from the host when we reached out. Enjoyed staying at this cottage. Definitely would book again!

Frisky Fish Cottage in Machiasport ME
My friend and I had a great time. The cottage was great! We also liked watching the Lobsters working in the harbor. I would highly recommend Frisky Fish Cottage!
Just what we needed for our family trip. A great place to rest after our days exploring the coast. We enjoyed watching the birds and the water come in/go out throughout the day. Loved getting lobster just down the street, couldn’t get any fresher.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Frisky Cottage! The house was so comfortable and clean. We didn’t have the greatest weather but we found plenty to do close by and just sitting in the cottage and watching the boats was relaxing. We even had a Bald Eagle land out front!
This cute little cottage was perfect for my sister and I to get away and relax. Watching the tide go in and out and the fishing boats in the distance. Fresh lobster is right up the street and Helen’s Restaurant is not too far either.
The beds were comfy, the kitchen was well stocked Wish we could have stayed a little longer.
Our stay at the Frisky Fish Cottage was fabulous! The cottage was spotless and well stocked. We loved watching the fishermen and bought lobsters from one of them. We spent time as kids in this area and found people so friendly, just as we remembered. A great spot!!
Great location a little difficult to find but it was amazing very clean fully stocked with everything we needed. We also enjoyed the viewing and the lobster men. We got to eat fresh lobster. Every one was so friendly. We were amazed by high and low tides. We enjoyed ourselves fishing and seeing the farm animals. It was just amazing!!
Such a privilege to stay at this wonderful home. The host was great; very communicative and the home was super clean. Each morning I watched the tide slide back into the ocean as I watched the local ships take off for work. I was honored to share my morning coffee with a bald eagle and two turkey vultures. The views of the forest with the mist will be with me forever. This was the perfect place for solitude. A must stay!
This is an adorable and well kept cottage right on the water with beautiful views at all times. There is a sheep farm across the street, which added to the charming setting. Inside, the beds were very comfortable, so we all slept well. I cooked dinners at the cottage every night, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The location was convenient for taking day trips to Campobello, Lubec, Eastport, and we even went to St Andrews one day. There are so many beautiful places to explore nearby. We had a fantastic trip, but wish I had booked it for longer than a week. We are from South Carolina, and it was so nice to escape the Southern heat!
We enjoyed our stay at Frisky Fish cottage. The reviews sold me on the house and it's nice to report here that the positive reviews are 100% accurate. The house is special because of its location and unique layout. Kudos to Lynn. She knows how to manage properties! The place was spotless when we arrived. The beds are super comfortable and the kitchen is well-equipped. The place is ideal for a couple seeking a get-away along the Bold Coast. You won't find anything better so jump at the opportunity to rent if you see dates that work for you.

About the host
Hosted by Lydia Chang
Lydia Chang first visited Maine from Malaysia when she was a little girl of six. A few years later, her family moved to the state. After several years, they left Maine but Maine did not leave her. She returned to the state as a college freshwoman; when she graduated as a software engineer, her condition of employment was their acceptance that she could work in Maine while liaising with their corporate headquarters in a big city in another state. Her roots deepened. She is now a homeowner in Maine with a scattering of chickens in her backyard. She loves to ski on its mountains and run after her Saint Bernard and Bernese Mountain dog on its beaches.
