About the host
Hosted by Donna
Welcome to Casa Aragona, our stylish home away from home. I'm originally from the UK and have a real passion for Southern Italy having visited and lived in Puglia for nearly 20 years. I've been helping overseas clients coming over to Puglia to either move or buy a holiday home for nearly a decade and know the area really well. This led me to manage my clients holiday homes and love taking care of my clients and their houses. My main aim always is making sure my guests have a relaxing, wonderful stay and experience here in Puglia. I'm always on hand to respond to any queries or suggestions for things to do and see in Puglia. I'm passionate about all things property and Italy related and caring for my clients and guests are foremost at all times. If you don't find me on a property inspection you will find me in Nature, breathing in the fresh Apulian air, going for walks and enjoying the amazing light and sunshine of Puglia even in the winter months.
Why they chose this property
Newly restored townhouse in the historical centre of Conversano just behind the Monastero di San Benedetto. Restored to a high standard to ensure an amazing stay in a Stylish Italian home. We offer contemporary furnishings and modern amenities in an historical charming old building. The large Master bedroom with parquet flooring is about 25 sqm with an ensuite bathroom (no shower) that has been built into the ancient old stone walls of the building. The window to the master bedroom is via a light-well from the terrace above. The second bedroom has 3 single beds, the bottom 2 beds can be made into a double bed, it has a julienne balcony that looks over the cobbled streets of the Old Town. There is also another full main bathroom with shower. Stairs lead up to the second floor with resin flooring that open into a bright open space with living room with small terrace and kitchen of about 50 sqm that has another small balcony. This airy space is perfect for relaxing and each area has it's own small outside terrace. The living room with dining area has a sofa bed.
What makes this property unique
The house is also only about 10 minutes from Polignano a Mare, Monopoli and some of the best local beaches.
A little gem unspoiled by mass tourism and a wonderful place to experience authentic Puglian life. Today the town is a centre of art and culture, with many famous 16th Century artworks on display in the museum of the Castello. There are great restaurants as well, including the Michelin Star Restaurant Pasha close to our house. The yellow and blue mosaic tiles on the tower’s dome of the Benedictine Monastery gleam in the sunlight and was once the most important monastery in Puglia. Conversano’s Romanesque cathedral dates back to the 11th century, built of white limestone, which is a distinguishing characteristic of Puglian architecture. The town is located on the site of an ancient Iron Age settlement. It is full of history and was once the residence for the Acquaviva Counts. Conversano is refined, elegant city, well off the tourist track. Next to the Castello is a large Piazza, with views across the plain below to the Adriatic sea, about 7km away. This gives access to the Villa Garibaldi, a beautiful small park with a precious shade of trees. Conversano is the traditional Puglian home of cherries. Every June they celebrate the Festa delle Ciliegie.
