The Gnilman Eco-camp, run by Lorella and Alioune, is located in the heart of Sine Saloum. Thus, you will have the opportunity to get a change of scenery and relax in Palmarin in a natural environment, between the sea and mangroves, which will also allow you to discover Senegalese culture.
Within the camp, you will have the opportunity to discover the charm of the traditional huts of the region, each of which can accommodate between 2 and 6 people, or to let yourself be tempted by the comfort of a night spent in one of our Moroccan tents. You can also meet in our common room to play table tennis, table football, board games or to chat with our staff. Several "relax" areas are also scattered to enjoy the calm of the Senegalese countryside and the sea!
In addition, during your stay, various activities will be offered to you by the Gnilman camp. You will be able to visit the Palmarin nature reserve in a horse-drawn carriage, kayak in the mangroves, take a canoe ride in the Sine Saloum islands, benefit from dance or djembe lessons, learn to cook traditional Senegalese dishes or visit the village of Djiffer and its famous arrival of the fishermen. It is also possible to benefit from meditation and yoga classes, or even a "Spiritual Retreat and Meditation" stay lasting three to seven days, carried out by our teacher depending on his presence at the camp. A new animal area has also just opened within the camp. It is intended to eventually expand to become an educational farm but you will already find two donkeys, a horse and adorable dogs that are just waiting to be petted!
Of course, you can also take advantage of your stay to rest and sunbathe by the ocean, which is only 50 metres from the camp.
In the evening, you can enjoy local dishes prepared by partner restaurateurs located in the village of Palmarin (price not included in the payment of the night).
Coming to the Gnilman camp also means supporting a solidarity and eco-responsible project, which makes your trip a unique experience. Indeed, the camp is almost self-sufficient in energy (use of solar panels despite being connected to the local electricity grid since 2024 in case of need and rainwater harvesting) and collaborates exclusively with the inhabitants of Palmarin, which proves our commitment to local development. In addition, the camp is also a training centre for our association ALPADEF (Pan-African Alliance for the Development of Women's Entrepreneurship) allowing the women of Palmarin to learn how to value local products. Thus, 35% of the price of your overnight stay is donated to the association as part of the organisation of these trainings.
Thus, the Gnilman camp adopts a unique approach to make your stay in Senegal one of a kind. Our project is to welcome you in a quiet, family and environmentally friendly setting as well as sustainable local development, which explains in particular the absence of hot water and air conditioning in the apartments as well as our choice not to install wifi.
