Dovetail Retreat, a 1911 sandstone, converted church is nestled amidst park like gardens. It offers visitors warm, inviting interiors with a palpable sense of history. The relaxing palette of neutral tones mixed with the warmth of timber, craftsman cedar ceilings and sandstone walls serve as the perfect backdrop for vintage furniture and art. Dovetail Retreat is most ideal for group bookings or multiple families. The 7 bedroom, (1 king bed, 5 queen beds, 2 single beds, 3 living, 3 bathroom home is the perfect place to bunker down, relax and reset. Dovetail Retreat has a shower/toilet chair available if extra support is needed for use in the downstairs bathing space. If cooking is your passion, Dovetail Retreat features a fully equipped kitchen. The stunning dining space with feature stain glass window allows guests the opportunity for long meals with loved ones. Maybe you'd like to pick up a book in the library or attend to some work emails in the study. It might be tempting to stay indoors but we encourage you to explore the outdoors...sit in the garden and listen to bird song, soak in the hot tub, shower by the pool, cook a simple meal using the outdoor kitchen/wood fired pizza oven or light the firepit for a night under the stars. Maybe you'd like to walk along the banks of the Merri River approximatley 300m away, enjoy a game of tennis or set the children free in a natural play space. Warrnambool is 10 minutes away, Port Fairy 20 minutes and Portland 1 hour. There's bustling cafes, surf beaches, shopping, art galleries, horse races, speedway or the Great Ocean Road on your doorstep. Your reset awaits at Dovetail Retreat.

Very welcoming host, place was massive with a very big garden, lovely to walk around and play on the large grassed area, spa and pool that was fun, spa hot and pool was coolish. Beds soft and heaps of bedrooms to fit us all comfortably. Excellent place!

Absolutely loved our stay at Briarley’s historic property! It was the perfect base for our group of 7 couples attending a nearby wedding. The contrast between the beautifully modern interior and the spacious, picturesque outdoor areas made it ideal for both relaxing and socialising together. The pool area was a standout and a lifesaver on such a warm weekend—perfect for cooling off and unwinding. Briarley was an excellent communicator throughout our stay and made everything feel easy and seamless. The property had absolutely everything we needed and more. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

Amazing property and amazing host. Not only is the property so amazing.. beautiful, well maintained, very comfortable and has that relaxing vibe, the hosts have furnished it with everything.. icemaker, wine cooler, airfryer, rice maker, coffee machine, juicer.... you name it it's there. There are thoughtful touches everywhere and so many places in the house and backyard for a relaxing leg up or a contemplative drink.. and then there is the hot tub and pool and bbq for a outdoor lunch or dinner.In short, you can't go wrong with this property.
