Authentic house

Very welcoming in the centre of Eguisheim, which is a wonderful village. In the tourist season the house is one of the attractions to photograph. It is clean and spacious, the host Katia is very friendly and helpful. We had our own parking space at the back of the house, which was very handy. We had a great time staying here.

Classic Traditional Alsace Townhouse

Katia Schmitt is a local artist who has rebuilt, renovated and decorated this ancient house with excellent flair and taste. She has a shop on the ground floor, which doesn't impinge, with separate quite similar apartments across the first and second floors. We found the top apartment a charming place to stay for a week with our daughter, enjoying the view over the roof tops – complete with storks. It was always a pleasure to return to after a day exploring the local area by foot and by bike. Katia was friendly and helpful and the apartment nice and clean with sparkling windows. There is a small garden with a table, where we enjoyed aperitifs and al fresco dinners on warm evenings, though we had the advantage of no one staying in the other apartment or in the house next door. Eguisheim has interesting buildings and is pleasant to explore, but it is very much a tourist village with flocks of visitors and even a tourist train during the day. No problem in the early morning and evening when it was invariably quiet, and the house was pleasingly quiet at night. There is one good boulangerie nearby. Most of the other shops sell tourist stuff or stylishly packaged local wine, since Eguisheim is a major Alsace wine centre. We enjoyed good walks up in the foothills of the Vosges, just behind the village, and good cycle rides in all directions – through the vineyards south and north, up into the wooded hills, across the Rhine to Germany and back through the charming centre of Colmar. We had a very good week, staying in a delightfully civilised house in a delightfully civilised corner of France.

Wonderful historic house

The second floor apartment is wonderfully restored and furnished in traditional style, enhanced by the owners own beautiful traditional hand painted decorating and artwork. The apartment facilities are excellent and it is a comfortable place to eat, sleep and rest in even in very hot weather due to the natural through ventilation. The location is very central within the wonderful town and although the house does get a lot of attention from visitors taking photographs of the exterior, it is still a peaceful location. You can even see the famous storks on their nests on the roof tops from the window. Nice shaded courtyard garden at rear to sit and relax. It is wonderful to be able to park the car at the rear of the property and exit onto the pedestrian street at the front to wander into the town to buy fresh croissant in the morning or sample the lovely restaurants and wine degustations in the evening. Katia is a wonderful host, meeting us at the beginning and end of our stay and could not do enough to help make our stay enjoyable and fulfilling. A highly recommended property.

A wonderful place to stay in the heart of Alsace

We had a great time here. The apartment has been furnished in a traditional style and with lots of taste and flair by the very pleasant artist-owner, Katia. A light and airy flat with exposed beams and decorative motifs, paintings, knick-knacks and antique furnitue and objets d'art,, with cosy lighting and comfortable wooden beds. There is plenty of space for a couple or a small family, with a well-equiped kitchen and excellent shower room. We loved it. There is a second apartment below, on the first floor, and entrances both into the cobbled circuit street below and the enclosed garden behind, from which you can access the private parking spaces. Despite leading straight into the village, the location is very quiet and we slept like babies! From here you can drive, cycle, walk or shop. Perfect!

Absolutely fabulous

We loved everything about this apartment. Location is unbeatable - inside the ramparts, close to the heart of old Eguisheim but quiet at night. Parking is convenient. The apartment is spacious, in fact bigger than it looks on the website. Big bathroom, good size kitchen, comfortable bed. Having visited a number of the Alsace towns, we would stay in Eguisheim as first choice next time, and this apartment would be our first choice, .

Charmant et authentique logement à Eguisheim

Appartement authentique et très charmant de par sa décoration, ses couleurs, ses dessins peints de façon minutieuse, notamment sur les portes et les petits volets: quelle joie de les fermer chaque soir et les rouvrir le matin! La présence de bois donne également beaucoup de chaleur à l’endroit: poutres, planchers, meubles, portes, murs, etc. Et la cerise sur le gâteau: le lit en alcôve enveloppé par de grandes tentures jaunes en avant donne encore plus de charme au logement. Le regard est capté par toutes sortes de jolis détails. Bref, un décor de conte de fée dans une magnifique cité médiévale!

Urige Wohnung in hübschem Städtchen

Sehr saubere, originell eingerichtete Wohnung. Trotz altem Haus ist die Technik prima, auch die Sanitäreinrichtungen sind modern. Problemloses Einchecksystem. Das eine Doppelbett ist nur durch einen Vorhang vom Rest der Wohnung zu trennen. Für eine Familie kein Problem, aber vielleicht gut zu wissen. Die Wohnung ist auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen. Vor allem, wenn man mal was anderes als den 08/15 Standard möchte.

Geweldig oud vakwerkhuis in prachtig dorpje

We verbleven drie nachten in deze mooie en schone woning. Prachtig ingericht, fijne bedden, prima ruime douche. Ruim voldoende borden, glazen, bestek. We vonden het jammer dat we weer weg moesten. Enige nadeel is de houten vloer van de verdieping erboven, waar ook gasten kunnen verblijven.

Gite tres bien situé et dans le style alsacien. Propriétaire sympathique mais qui vient de changer, pas d'informations sur le nouveau. Attention la petite chambre est sur le palier et donne dans le grenier donc difficile pour des enfants.

Wunderhübsche Wohnunh

Die Ferienwohnung liegt ganz zentral, so dass man in kürzester Zeit zu Fuß in den kleinen Geschäften, beim Bäcker, Fahrradverleih oder bei einer Weinverkostung ist. Wir haben uns in der Wohnung gleich wie zu Hause gefühlt und besonders das Alkoven-Bett hat unserer Tochter sehr gefallen. Die gemütliche Unterkunft können wir auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen!

Le gîte se situe dans l'ancien village, nous avons aimé l'ambiance intérieur de l'appartement, l'accueil de notre hôte. Nous avons exploré les environs car il y a de nombreuses balades à faire et le soir nous avons apprécié de déguster un bon vin d'Alsace.

Escapade dépaysante

Un appartement très délicatement décoré grâce au talent de la propriétaire. Une dame charmante et très accueillante. La location est un petit écrin au cœur d’un village sublime, doté de tout le confort nécessaire. Nous y reviendrions avec plaisir avec nos amis. A recommander sans modération.

Ein Idyll mit Liebe restauriert

Das Haus ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail restauriert, die Lage perfekt in der Ortsmitte, abends wenn die Tagestouristen abgereist sind ist es ruhig. Die Abwicklung mit der sehr sympathischen Vermieterin hat wunderbar geklappt, sie gibt gerne auch Tipps rund um den Ort.

Einzigartig!

Das Haus ist ein kleines Museum mit sehr viel Geschmack eingerichtet! Der Garten ist ein kleiner Vorgarten mit Sitzgelegenheit - nicht zum Spielen und Grillen geignet, aber an heißen Tagen schön schattig. Vom Schlafzimmer aus kann man die Störche beobachten und man fällt förmlich in die Fußgängerzone. Trotzdem ist es nachts sehr ruhig! Für vier Personen ein tolles Domizil!

Auszeit im Elsass

Wir , zwei Personen über 50 mit einem Berner Sennenhund, hatten eine schöne Woche in dem historischen Eguisheim. Der historische , romantische Ort , ist kein Geheimtipp, aber im Abgleich zu den Hotspots in der Umgebung doch recht ruhig und beschaulich. In der sehr geschmackvoll , mit alten Möbeln ausgestatteten Ferienwohnung wurden wir von der Vermieterin sehr freundlich empfangen. Die Vermieterin ist sehr herzlich und bemüht. Sie ist künstlerisch talentiert und hat das sanierte Gebäude mit eigener farblicher Gestaltung, kleinen Kunstwerken und auch handwerklichen Dingen ausgestattet die man erwerben kann. Es hat uns gut gefallen! Wir werden gerne wiederkommen! H.u. R. Meyer u. Bäri
