About this property

Bed&Breakfast in a 1795 Log Cabin on working farm, Margaret Baylor-Swoope suite

We are a family run bed and breakfast in a restored circa 1795 hand-hewn log cabin decorated with period antiques. The room contains a queen bed w/Beautyrest mattress with the linens provided. In addition to the log cabin walls, the room has hand sewn exposed beams. The bathroom has an enclosed tile shower with towels and toiletries provided. For those chilly mornings the room has heated reclaimed wood floors. If you are interested in relaxing there is a porch with a porch swing and rocking chairs, perfect for a tall glass of sweet tea sipping and just taking in the view of the rolling hills. The room also includes a coffee maker and coffee, a refrigerator and WiFi.

Your stay comes with a locally sourced plated breakfast served at 8:00-9:30am in our on-site dining room. We are happy to accommodate your low fat, restrictive, or vegetarian dietary restrictions. Please give notice when you book your room.

Also we are part of Meadowcroft Farm a 300 acre farm with cattle and sheep. The hill directly behind the inn is a perfect spot lay out a blanket and enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun set or gaze up at the stars.

Winter get-away
We had a FABULOUS time staying at the Inn. It was beautiful, spacious, and up-to-date with all the amenities! Chris and Cindy were the most gracious hosts and the breakfasts were delicious! We loved the decor and the privacy of our room. The location of the Inn was perfect for hiking and visiting nearby quaint towns. We’d visit the Inn again in a heartbeat!

The description and pictures did not do justice to this Inn! It was fantastic! The staff was on point and Bill made our stay. We look forward to our return to Meadowcroft and would hesitate to send our friends and family here.

Why they chose this property

MeadowCroft Farm is a 7th generation working family farm in the rural community of Swoope (pronounced Swope), named after Jacob Swoope, the first mayor of Staunton and a land developer in the late 1700s. Run by Bill and Judie Croft, the Farm dates back to the mid 1700s and is a diversified operation consisting of beef cattle, sheep and crops. MeadowCroft Farm is located in southwestern Augusta County at the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, five miles from the Interstate I-81 / I-64 Staunton bypass. In 2013 restoration began on an 1820 two-story hand-hewn log cabin that stands on the property. Shortly after beginning this renovation, the Crofts purchased a 1795 two-story cabin, dismantled it and brought it to the site to be added to the original cabin. As Judie anxiously watched every exterior board being removed she thought, “If only these walls could talk!” Renovations and updates to the adjoining cabins were completed in 2018 and the Inn at MeadowCroft opened to delight guests to this beautiful, historic property.
