"La Bergerie"—A cottage at the end of the world. La Valbonnette
Located between the Verdon Gorge and the Mercantour Natural Park, Lake St. Croix and Lake Allos, La Valbonnette (a former small hamlet consisting of four stone houses) is a place rich in biodiversity and scenic beauty, unique for its seclusion and the tranquility that reigns there. Staying here offers a complete change of scenery. La Valbonnette is accessible only by 4x4 via a 5.5-kilometer mid-mountain trail, ensuring complete tranquility and unspoiled nature. (A 4x4 vehicle is provided free of charge for the duration of your stay.) You’ll be welcomed far from the noise and stress of the city at a small farm dedicated to donkey breeding, vegetable gardening, and honey production, in two comfortable, independent cottages: La Miellerie, which sleeps 9, La Bergerie, or La Fenière, which sleeps 6. Isabelle and Michel will offer you farm-fresh products: honey, vegetables, and eggs. The location is ideal for family holidays, active getaways, or nature lovers. You can go hiking, mountain biking, take walks, swim in the river, or relax by the pond. Isabelle offers foot reflexology sessions. The hamlet of Valbonnette is located 30 km from Castellane (the gateway to the Verdon Gorge), where you’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore Europe’s highest canyon and enjoy hiking or whitewater sports. Lake Allos is also a must-see destination for nature lovers.
