The property had an amazing setting, however it felt like the owner had given up. There were no starter logs (as stated in the welcome book), the heater in the king bedroom didn’t work, the break stop on the zip line was snapped, the “ninja course” had a tree laying over the top of it. When using the oven it wouldn’t turn off, we ended up having to unplug it. Overall my kids had a great time exploring the property but I would not recommend staying at this property to anyone.
Owners were very accommodating, responsive and easy to work with. We asked to stay an extra day, and they worked with us to extend our stay.
We all had an amazing time!
Our family had a very nice stay at this VRBO. There were a few supplies missing that stated would be present, but it was not a big deal because we brought our own (i.e. charcoal for the grill). There were a few items that were not super clean (i.e. toilet and shower), but we made due. The views were wonderful, the property manager replied quickly, and it was an overall great experience!
Very secluded and private property. We saw/ heard tons of singing birds. We also saw bunnies and deer. Nice view of the lake from the hilltop firepit area. Clean and comfortable home. I suggest driving a high clearance or 4- wheel drive vehicle, as the driveway was rough, due to recent severe storms. Would definitely stay here again!
The property was great. The home was just the right size with an amazing view out into miles of Cape Fair's water. If you like hiking and fishing, this is a good area. The only downside would be the unpaved road to the house. We came home and discovered that we had a flat. Other than that, our family enjoyed the scenic environment and everything it had to offer.
Very secluded, beautiful view and adventures to explore!! They have a bigg beautiful lake with gear and kayaks, also a fire pit for s'mores and hiking trails! I highly recommend the stay here if you are needing to experience a different atmosphere of relaxation and outdoors exploring. Be mindful it is in the woods and door dash doesn't work!! Lol
We really enjoyed our stay. Grandkids loved the zip line. The only complaints we had was, the driveway was really rough. Definatly take the walking path to the water, not the gravel road. That road is not good on a vehicle. Bugs were spotted, and a lizard. Maybe some curtains in the bedrooms and the bathroom would be a good idea. Secluded or not, it's uncomfortable not having curtains. And the windows need to be cleaned. It really was a good stay, but If I could change some things, those would be it.

Nice, but not what i expected.
Bugs were a big issue for us. Spiders, flys, rolly pollys and even a roach found inside the house. There was bug spray available that i decided to use around the base boards. A couple of wasp nest found on the porches as well. The place was nice and comfy aside from that. Like everyone else it would have been nice to have easier access to the water without having to make a small hike. Water was high while we stayed so the cove that is shown was not available to us to experiance. It is very quiet and peaceful which that is what we wanted. Drew had told me the place had just gone thru a renovation but my daughter was a little wierded out that none of the windows in the house had any blinds or curtains that could be closed. Will say becareful with any small kids at the edge of property as the property is on a hill leading down to a cliff edge. Overall stay was fair and Drew offered many amenities for use. For the right people it would be a great stay.

The property was very secluded and quite which was nice however the pictures are apparently old because the property was so over grown there was only a couple spot you could see the lake, the zipline was so over grown the kids couldn’t even get to it they tired and woke up the next morning covered in bites and poison ivy. No hammock.no curtains or window coverings except in bedrooms. Wasn’t comfortable using the bathroom at night without the window being covered. The bunk beds were covered in spiders so the kids ( 4 boys) were afraid to sleep on them they slept on the couch for 4 nights. The grass was mowed right in front of the cabin. No mention that there’s a 60-80ft( or more it’s hard to tell when you’re standing on top of it) drop off the cliff right in front of the cabin so we were afraid for the kids to play anywhere in that area! So we had to find other things for the kids to do and spend more money when we had planned on just being at the cabin! We rented a boat at Cape Fair Marina and they were awesome if you are in the area check them out! We all was ate up by something it wasn’t mosquitos Myself I never went out in the grass only to the car and cabin and was still eaten up. Not a pleasant trip we camp a lot and never had this much problem with bites. We looked for bed bugs no signs. We own a Pest Control Company! The pictures show it being opened up where you could see the water and made it look like there was a beach not a cliff! Very disappointed!!

Not what we expected
We arrived July 5th for a two night stay. First vacation in six years and first time using vrbo. Apparently had late check out which I believe being the holiday but the cleaner was a young boy who said he only had 1 hour notice to clean. Inside the cabin was filthy with dog hair, sticky floors, bath towels folded wet and placed in linen closet, broken sink faucet, beer bottles and water bottles under bed and all around firepit but the worst of all were the sheets which were covered in hair bugs and blood(this was my breaking point) ! The owner was pretty prompt at replying to my issue with the sheets and had "the cleaner" bring sheets but it was almost 10pm and she told us laundry gets sent out to be cleaned because of broken washer and dryer at cabin but that was an obvious lie because those sheets had not even been removed from the bed since last guests. I understand the holiday and a late checkout may have caused some issues but I was incredibly disappointed and spent the first evening of my two night vacation cleaning because I wasn't about to sleep in a filthy cabin. The view of the lake was incredible and the owner did respond promptly but these are the only positives I can offer for this place.
Great rental! Started and ended our day, with beautiful views of the river! All the amenities you could want for a relaxing vacation with your family! We would definitely stay again!
This host thought of everything. There was a little ninja course, zip line, and treasure hunt for kids, while we are not kids, we certainly enjoyed the treasure hunt. There was anything we could have needed in the home. Lots of trails to walk through, and the lake was stunning as always. This was the best vacation rental we have ever experienced!
The property was nice and had a beautiful view of the lake. Enjoyed all the extra snacks, games and activities for the kids! We all had a great time and appreciate that our dog could come along too!
This property was spectacular. The basement living room and bunk beds were a hit. So was the covered deck and the fire pit. We had a great time and even explored the woods around the property some. Highly recommend it.
The remote and breathtaking setting where this lakehouse sits is worth its weight in gold. On a bluff overlooking a river bend with virtually no other properties or people in sight. Tons of woods and shoreline to explore. The house is super clean and the bed in the master was probably one of the best, if not THE best bed I've ever slept in....and my wife agreed. The property owner is responsive, but is also very hands off. If you get the opportunity to stay here, please take care of this property so he keeps renting it out!
Was a great secluded woodsy property! Owners provided lots of extras to make the stay enjoyable. Only downfall is wish it had better lake access. Water was high when we went but the creek access to the water was a 4ft drop down to the water. Definitely not something for kids or older dogs to access easily. But overall we enjoyed and everyone was sad to leave!
Me and the guys wanted to get away for one of our annual camping trips, without all of the hassle. This place was perfect. Secluded and remote, we felt like we were camping, while having the comfort of home. The views are amazing and there is nature everywhere you look. We couldn't even see another house nearby from the cabin, which was perfect for the privacy and relaxation we were looking for. The dirt road to get to the cabin is a little rough, but nothing four wheel drive couldn't handle. If you plan on using a kayak on the private cove, you will have to be very cautious, even with four wheel drive because it is difficult to access easily. Shiloh's Retreat is a hidden gem that, no offense to everyone else, I hope keeps its serenity for years to come. You will not be disappointed.
It rained quite a bit and made the roads a little difficult to get to the water but aside from that everything was great! Great seating areas and lots of things to do or look at!
