Beautiful home in a beautiful setting on the Sea of Cortez
We walked into a beautiful home and so conducive to having 4 couples stay, each bedroom with its own entrance/exit and separate bathroom. In addition, a common bathroom off the kitchen for general use. The pool overlooks the miles-long white sandy beach and ocean. Lots of chairs and lounge chairs and 2 kayaks. Everything we needed in the kitchen to cook. All-in-all a wonderful place to stay and we'll be back!

It was nice having you there! Hope to see you soon!
Everything was great, property manger was there and within a phone call away- beach /water are both beautiful- pool/jacuzzi both functional and clean - kitchen had enough silverware ,plates and glasses. Parking of vehicles were secured. Refrigerator worked great. The small town of Palo Verde has a small market for extra supplies.
Amazing property, stunning location on the sea of Cortez. If you visit in the winter bring warm clothes for the nighttime because the house is not heated although it does have apparently very effective air conditioning in the summer. Extremely remote and quiet. About a one hour trip to get to the nearest town of Mulegé to do significant shopping. The caretaker and owner were remarkably available and helpful. Truly one of the most relaxing and magnificent vacations of our entire lives [and we have traveled the world over]. We plan to return for an extensive repeat vacation. We were there from mid December,2022 until mid January 2023

Nice location but the home needs cleanning!
The location is beautiful however the house is another story. Dirty beyond words!
Let's start with the kitchen; it was absolutely disgusting. The coffee maker was filthy and my attempt to clean it was useless so I could not have coffee for the 6 mornings we were there. The majority of the pots and pan were not safe to use because they were so old the Teflon coating was scratched and compromised. I was able to find 3 semi good pans to use. The trash drawer did not have a trash can in it, they just placed a big black trash bag in the drawer which fell into the drawer every time you tried to put trash in it; the flies loved it. The cabinets were so dirty I tried not to touch them. Kitchen counters still had dried up food on them.
Bathroom: The bathroom we used had black hair all over the shower floor. I was able to find one bottle of cleaning solution and I poured it all over the shower floor to clean it before we used it. The toilet had dried up pee on the seat, had to clean that too.
Furniture: The furniture inside and out is so old and dirty I had to place sheets and towels over all the furniture so we could sit on them. All the chaise lounges outside are broken and not usable.
Pool: It was freezing...we were not told prior to renting that they do not heat the pool; this would have been nice to know because we knew the ocean water would be to cold for swimming but thought we could use the pool. It was also really dirty; had a thick layer of sand all over the bottom of it. They did come out and clean it for us after we complained so that we could at least use the spa. I guess it has been windy prior to our arrival however they knew we were coming so no excuse not to have the house and pool ready for us!
I called Brett to complain and he told me to leave and he would refund my money. The problem is there is no where to go! The internet was not working; they only have so many minutes to use and when we got there it was all used up. So, we could not try to find another home to move to. We had a refrigerator full of food without a cooler and no idea where to go! So, we had to clean and make it work! Brett also told me "it's Baja"! I have been going to Baja for 30 years, I know Baja! There is no excuse for what we found at Brett's home. It's just not being taken care of nor properly cleaned. We were not camping ( if we were it would have been cleaner) we had paid for a home to stay in and expected it to at least be clean.

Nothing can make these people happy"
This house has been renting for over 8 yrs..and has never had a bad review on any of the websites listed. In fact there is about an 80% return rate of the guests.. So I find it hard to believe what was posted here..
From the first day they arrived they started to complain and my Manager spent countless hours trying to make these people happy. I informed them that I would honor a full REFUND of their money, and they said that they would consider that, but I never heard back from them and they continued to use the
house during the full length of their stay! The excuse that they had nowhere to go from "grown adults travelling Baja for 30 years" is quite amusing!!!
I also spoke with them over the phone about how you cannot heat the pool in the winter time given the fact that the house cannot hold enough propane (2- large 1000 liter tanks) to heat a 12,000 gal..pool daily, and I was told the jacuuzzi would be fine..
Its obvious these people did not read the rental agreement stating conservation of water, propane, internet etc.. is important due to the fact the house sits "off the grid" on one of the most beautiful beaches in "Baja"
Our family was looking for something to get away from the crazy busy lives we lead. We found it! We had a beach all to ourselves for our family to play and explore. Brett was has an incredible home that allowed us find freedom and get reconnected. He was super responsive to all our questions and helped us trouble shoot any issues we had. Thank you!

Impressive property does not live up to its billing and is not good value
Positives first. The house is impressive with 4 bedrooms each with private bath and an 'open concept' entrance/kitchen/dining/living area opening to a partly covered deck with the pool and looking over the beach. There was lots of room for the 7 adults in our party. We got a small taste of the high end homes neighbourhood by hanging out a bit at the local bar/restaurant. We regularly met folks on the beach. We enjoyed kayaking in the Bay in front of the house particularly paddling with the dolphins. There are local things to see ... having a 4WD is a requirement.
Negatives. The pool and jacuzzi had water but did not work for us. The water is not treated and the pool is not maintained for use. We could not figure out the jacuzzi heating system and eventually just gave up on this aspect of the vacation home advertising. Considering only this element of the property we consider the rate over-priced.
Another negative is that the home is not supported by a local property manager. We arrived to no water for the first 24 hours and problems with hydro that had to be worked through. I do commend Bret Townley for aggressively arranging to have the pump replaced. However there were still other lesser issues (such as the pool/jacuzzi) and while we asked for help, no one was available on-site to solve problems. The house is curiously not set up for groups; the dining room table did not seat our party and there was not sufficient tableware.

Yes of course the house has a caretaker (anybody that owns a house in Mexico knows this.) The caretaker had gone to the States to visit family and I had told the guests in advance that I had hired someone else for their stay. Yes the jacuzzi had a stuck valve so it was not operating correctly and I had to bring a new one down from the States and has since been fixed and it is back to normal. I counted 5 chairs at the table and another 4 at the bar? The house can accomodate 8? And 4 spoons were missing but there is another box in the garage? As far as pricing goes these guests paid $54.00 a night per person. I dont think you will find a better bargain in Mexico for your own house on the beach (off the grid) that has whale sharks and dolohins swimming by daily! Far from over-priced!

Great place
We had a great time , the house is beautiful. The deck does not have the fire pit any more and the seagulls like to swim in the pool with you . It is a great place to vacation and you will enjoy yourself.

Amazing
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. It was AMAZING. Brett was super helpful with getting us directions to the home and Ken, the caretaker, was super helpful and the house was breathtaking and just so so lovely. It is off the beaten path, so it's not for those looking to walk to shops/restaurants/etc. (those are all an hour away) but aside from that it is the most wonderful place. It was like living in a celebrity home. It may be off the grid, and it is REALLY off the grid, but it made for the most perfect and romantic honeymoon and we cannot wait to go back!

Paradise Found
My family and I just returned from a two week stay at Baja Pool Beach House. It was undoubtedly our best family vacation ever. This home was everything and more. What isn't mentioned is the incredibly friendly support staff and locals in the area. We were welcomed into the community on the very first night and felt totally safe. If you haven't been to Punta Chivato before you're in for a real treat. The area features incredible fishing from the boat and shoreline, swimming, diving, snorkeling, shell hunting, wildlife watching, pristine beautiful private beachfronts, and a restaurant/bar within 5 minutes of home. Although this home isn't easy to get to it's well worth the adventure of getting there. The owner of the home was very accomodating to our needs and made extra sure the home was ready for us. You will be shocked at how much you will like this home and beach. The weather in December was pretty good. We had a few overcast days, which the locals said was abnormal. Tip #1: Give yourself plenty of time in daylight getting to home. It is off the beaten path and not easy to find your first time there. Tip #2: Stay as long as you can, two weeks just wasn't enough and we didn't want to leave. We will definitely be returning soon.

The Stewart Family
We just got back from an 11-day stay at this beautiful property. Everything listed in the description is accurate, but the pictures don't do it justice- it is more beautiful in person! The house is comfortable and well equipped, fresh drinking water was always available, and the pool is a welcome luxury in the July heat between fishing trips. It is well "off the beaten path" for those who enjoy privacy and solitude, though we ate several times at the local restaraunt, "Los Chibatos", and the food and drink were excellent! The caretaker, "Ken", was attentive to our needs, and kept things running smoothly for us. We enjoyed our stay very much, and hope to return in the future. Thank you!

This house is everything ...
This house is everything promised in the description and more! Beautiful premises, gorgeous location, and many simple things to do for a relaxing, quiet, "time to unwind" vacation. The owner and manager are extremely accommodating and very helpful. The drive through Baja is beautiful and unique--and even though it's a bit far--it's worth the effort. This is definitely an out-of-the-way, private, quiet vacation treat.
About the host
Hosted by Bret townley
This house is my pride and joy that reflects my love for Baja!
Why they chose this property
We chose this location for our vacation home because of the vast beauty of Baja and our love of the ocean.
What makes this property unique
We enjoy the sun rising out of the sea every morning. On a full moon it also rises out of the sea and is quite spectacular. The fishing, diving, kayaking and snorkeling are unbelievable. We also enjoy a long stroll along the beach shelling and finding whatever treasures the sea might wash ashore. The locality of 2 towns for shopping and other amenities are a plus. Local Mexicans are very friendly and helpful. We have a full time caretaker to help with your needs.
