Unique and lovely house

This property was really neat --it had a beautiful atrium and an authentic-looking saloon. Really enjoyed sitting in the hot tub and looking at the stars. One of the best places I've stayed.

The positives were the clean pool; the landscape around the property; the valley where Arivaca sits is gorgeous; and the attentive and welcoming caretaker, Jimmy. It is not for guests expecting a clean and well-maintained place. The home was a jumble of things and rooms which felt like someone’s home with personal items; all closets filled with cleaning products, vacuums, etc; old furniture that needed a deep clean or replaced; ant infestation in the kitchen; a foreboding basement with rooms that were dark and we didn’t see if there was a second bathroom was down there..The circular stairwell to the basement did not have a railing. We hand washed tableware and cookware before using any as they weren’t clean. Insulation from the dishwasher was sticking out of one side so we weren’t sure if it even worked. Of the three television sets we were aware of only one having a picture and the sound didn’t work.As suggested by VRBO help center, we requested a one-night refund from our three-night booking from the owner but have not heard back from then after three days.Gallo Libre does not deserve a 9.2 VRBO rating. This rental was a huge disappointment going to a rural area and expecting some rustic features but this is nothing like any VRBO we have stayed in.I do not give reviews but felt strongly enough to say something about this property.

The property sits on 40 open acres, 1/4 mile of it borders the Buenos Aries Wildlife preserve, a bird watcher's paradise less than 10 miles north of the Mexico border. The 4 bedroom property is nestled between well kept private gardens for guests to enjoy. The property also includes a well maintained private pool, both inside spa and outside jacuzzi. All private. There are 3 new big screen TV's and a State of the Art sound system featuring Polk Speakers and sub woofers. This guest's visit seemed fraught with confusion. The guest was disappointed at the $400 per night fee. However the fee is $285 per night. Please check that with VRBO next time. There was trouble with the remotes for the TV's. Specifically the volume control which is located on all the sides of the new remotes, 90 degrees from the face. Also a pamphlet, with directions, which unfolded to 18 inches X 18 inches was located directly beneath the remote. The remotes were working ALL functioning properly. One closet contains staff cleaning prducts. All bedroom closets and dressers (4) are totally empty. The stairs to the lower level have1 inch vertical rebar every 16 inches for hand rail assist. This is much safer than a horizontal handrail and again confusing for older guests. The native rock stairway has been a feature in several magazines. For those who prefer there is a separate, well lit, outside concrete ramp to the lover level. There is much, much more....

Family get away

The property fit our needs. The seclusion was fantastic and exactly what we were looking for. Jimmy, the property caretaker was very friendly and tried to accommodate our requests. The only thing that I feel should have been disclosed is that the property manager keeps bee hives. There were so many bees, everywhere, all day. Fortunately noone in our group had an allery to bees or we would not have been able to stay. We enjoyed all the other wildlife. The birds were wonderful to watch.

Thank you for the response. To clarify, no domestic hives are kept on the 40 acre property. There are empty bee boxes put together to send off the property. Feral bees and other insects are free to come, explore the trees and many flower, gather water, and, nectar. Mostly the bees are there for the water this time of year. Sorry for any inconvenience.
