We love staying in this house when we come and visit. It has plenty of room, it's clean, great location, and we love the large covered deck. The owners did great with communication and we hope to come back soon. We love the area. It's our favorite place to vacation. It's absolutely beautiful!
Great place for some time in the mountains. We missed our home at Beech mt We had to clean all the dishes before we could use them still a great place. Only thing that would have made it better was a day with out rain. It looks like you are doing a lot of work to make it better still we would give it a 10 hope to make it back next year would love to return
Had my elderly in-laws with us. I was concerned about my FIL’s mobility. We had no problem with his access to the property. Really friendly for elderly folks. Clean property and easy access
The house was a perfect size for my family. I loved how responsive the homeowner was whenever we needed help. We really enjoy the Linville Land Harbor neighborhood; it’s very peaceful. We would love to return on our next trip to the mountains!

They had unrealistic expectations, some of which were addressed in the welcome letter. Did not communicate with owners to address any concerns until after the fact.
Guest made several complaints upon arrival that were unfounded, and chose to leave even though we initiated response immediately. Guest left our house without locking it, and called future renters to try to get them to cancel their bookings. This guest was rude and uninterested in having the complaints resolved. The previous renters had just left the day before and had NONE of those complaints. We went to the house the next day and verified that the complaints were unfounded. This is a vindictive renter.
We were able to get in and use the keypad lock with no issues, and how to use the alarm system was well documented.
The deck is awesome. Covered deck with a hammock, plenty of seating and tables, and a gas firepit. It's a great social space or place to relax in the fresh air.
I failed to realize that there's no AC in the home, but that's my own fault. We were staying during peak summertime, so the house was quite warm, even with the windows open at night and fans going to try to keep cool. The kitchen is open to the living room, which has comfortable couches and an additional eating area/card table. All instructions for using the on-site amenities were clear.
The twin bedroom was quite small with no closet, but it was fine for sleeping and changing. We shared the master closet for the things we needed to hang. The master bedroom and downstairs bedroom had plenty of space.
The pull out sofa had some rust stains, and despite that there were dehumidifiers running, it was somewhat humid inside.
The owners were proactive in responding to community alerts and letting us know what was going on (there was some air in the community water pipes, no big deal).
Overall it was a great little house to stay in.
The house was disgusting. The second master bedroom is actually in the basement with a dehumidifier running 24/7 and while we were there, the handyman came, and the filter was completely clogged. The basement smelled of mold or mildew. It needs to be tested.
The rest of the house was filthy. The furniture was like somebody raided a thrift store and unless you’re agile, you will never get into the bathtub shower in the one bathroom that you’re able to use because there is a huge washer and dryer blocking your ability to enter. The owners agreed to return $1000 to me which they did all but $115 and expect me to chase them for the $115 and are waiting till the last day when I cannot submit a review and then not reimburse me
The gentleman that rented the house before me had the same complaints and the owner claimed his review was not true believe his review and believe this review do not stay in this house. I have pictures and a list of all the issues. My husband who is ill, his illness was further exacerbated by the staying in this house
VRBO must not look at these houses, nor do they make sure that they’ve cleaned or not
My last experience withVRBo on Amelia island was fabulous. I am so shocked by this nightmare.

This renter was a nightmare, complaining from the minute they arrived. We accommodated all their requests and nothing was good enough. There was NO MOLD and the house was clean. Theses renters were friends with another renter who also made up lies and asked for refunds. Beware of these people. I think this is their scheme. Complain and stay and then ask for refund.
The property was awesome! It was very pet friendly, and had an older style to it, but was very homelike. The beds were comfortable and there was a lot of room for everyone! The porch was huge!!! next time we’re up there we will rent again! The hosts answered any questions we had even when we unfortunately had to call them on Thanksgiving, they were great.
The porch was amazing. Great location and very clean. A couple of spaces slightly smaller than anticipated but overall enough space for all of us and would definitely stay again.
We enjoyed our stay at this home in Linville Land Harbor. The neighborhood is great and the area is beautiful. The house was nice and had everything we needed. The owner was quickly responsive when we had questions.
This home was very comfortable and clean. Plenty of space to spread out. Wonderful outdoor area to relax with family. Beautiful amenities. We enjoyed the pool overlooking the lake, the hiking trails and kayaks at the recreation area. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
We came up with family and two small kids for a long weekend. The home was an older home but well maintained. It was cozy and relaxing. What a wonderful stay!
We went skiing both at beech mountain and sugar mountain and Brenda's place was the perfect location! 20 mins to sugar and 30 mins to beech! It was very clean and tons of room! We loved that there were two porches (one out front and one out back). The back one is all closed in so if we wanted to sit at the fire table we could let our dogs roam. The front one is smaller but great view! We were able to see the moon with the telescope we brought which was so fun. We would go downstairs to play games and it was the perfect space for the 5 of us.
We also were able to make all of our meals at the house which was great. If you wanted to she even has a crockpot so you could have a meal ready when you are back from adventuring.
During the mornings we would take the dogs around the neighborhood and it was so peaceful. We also drove to a short hike that had an amazing lookout only 10 mins away and were the only ones there.
We cannot say enough great things about Brenda's mountain house. Brenda was also very quick to respond to our questions and very nice! We would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. Highly recommend!
We rented this house for a long weekend of skiing at Beech Mountain (30min drive to the slopes). It had plenty of room for 4 adults and 1 dog. We loved that the eat-in kitchen was open to the living room so that everyone could spread out and still spend time together. This was also hands down the best stocked kitchen we’ve ever had in a rental property. Brenda was incredibly hospitable, easy to communicate with, and willing to accommodate a special request. We can’t wait to go back!
This was the perfect home. It was so nice. In the chilly weather, we loved the covered deck in the back with a gorgeous fire pit. We did not use much inside other than the beds, which were great. We would go back.

About the host

We fell in love with this house as a place we can come with our family members during all seasons. Even our dog loves hiking around the lake or along the river. We have enjoyed eating fresh caught trout, and sitting out by the firepit in the evenings.
Why they chose this property
There is so much to do within Linville Land Harbor - hiking, fishing, boating, golf, tennis, to name a few. At the recreation center there is a beautiful pool and several activities and game rooms. During the late spring - fall there are concerts and parties near the lake. You can hang out at the pool or on the lakeside beach. Banner Elk is about 15 minutes away, with great skiing in the winter and hiking in the spring-fall. There are several fun festivals at different times of year. Boone is about 30 minutes away for skiing, concerts, shopping, and wonderful restaurants. In the winter, there is tubing in Jonas Ridge (about 10 minutes away), and you should drive the Blue Ridge Parkway during leaf season (5 minutes away).
