May 1. - October is Turtle Season.
Please Avoid using flashlights on the beach after dark. Use red flashlights - since Sea turtles are attracted to the white light and become disoriented while being guided by the moonlight or starlight - the light from your flashlight may confuse sea turtles who think it's moonlight, causing them to head in the wrong direction. Instead, put a red filter (which you can pick up for free at the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Welcome Centers) over your flashlight if you're headed out in the evenings to avoid confusing mamas laying their eggs or babies hatching!
Remove all beach gear and trash from the beach each night. Sea turtles can become entangled. Nesting turtles will return to the Gulf without laying eggs if they meet obstacles on the beach.
Do not dig large holes in the sand and please fill any holes you dig! . If you find holes, help by refilling them too. . Not only can sea turtles become trapped, but holes are also dangerous for the people who walk along the beaches. One lady in 2022 fell in one on her first night and broke her leg.
The beach is abeautiful place. Come and enjoy the sound of the waves crashing on the beach and watch dolphins swim past in the mornings while you watch from your balcony!!
Thank you. Have a great vacation and enjoy!
