Hoone Rd, fronting Poipu Beach Park and Brenneckes Beach, turns into Pee Rd. This winding street is a popular place to watch the sunset on the wall fronting Nihi Kai or to walk one way and return to the Poipu Kai Greenbelt.

Outstanding place to stay! We loved the space and especially the outdoor patio. Close enough to beaches and made use of the pool on the property too :)
Beautiful condo with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Great location, and close to Poipu beach and other lovely homes. Would definitely recommend. Just minor issues with passcode to the door, but would stay again.
Great place to stay in the Southern part of Kauai. Loved the 10 minute walk to Poipu Beach. Property managers were super fast to respond. They also provided a ton of information about the property and local stuff to check out. It really was a streamlined process with little effort to get in. We will miss the evening walks to see the sea turtles and Brennecke's!
Our party ranged in age from twenties, thirties, fifties, and sixties. Everyone enjoyed the property equally. Really enjoyed the access to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club with the stay at this property. Poipu Crater is its own ecosystem. Magnificent lush setting and then you are only minutes walking to the ocean. Magnificent pool area was enjoyed daily after beach visits. Property managers were helpful with questions and troubleshooting. Two weeks went by too fast. Easy drive from the airport. Look forward to a future visit!
Poipu Crater is a great place to stay on Kauai. Twin beds downstairs would have been better for our teens, but they worked it out. We spent most our time hiking and beaching on the southwest and southeast parts of the island. We loved Old Koloa, Allerton Gardens, and Hanapepe art walk on Friday night. Note: We didn't plan enough ahead to reserve the shuttle into Ha'ena to hike the Napali coast, so if you are heading up there reserve well in advance. It was a great trip and a very comfortable stay.
Property is as described. Clean. 2-3 minute drive from beach. Beach is within walking distance, but up and down steep hills. Would really not want to carry much. Owners left beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, wagon, boogie boards... which was much appreciated. The only small critique would be to fix the vertical blinds in the living room so one can open and close. Great house. Would definitely stay again.

While the walk to Poipu Beach is under 15 minutes, the location of this VRBO is at the bottom of a large hill, which makes it difficult and not very leisurely to walk to Poipu Beach (although it is possible). The downstairs bedroom does not have A/C (the upstairs bedroom does) and there are some broken blinds, indicating that the place needs just a little TLC. It is worth mentioning that there is an opening between the upstairs bedroom and kitchen, so that reduces privacy. However, these are our only complaints - we were very happy here and would easily return. We loved breakfasts on the patio, felt privacy from neighbors, and had perfect temperature water for all showers. Thank you!

Place was clean & loved having starter supplies. Nice to have beach stuff to use. Didn’t love location in the crater but that’s just personal preference. Quick drive to beach. Asked manager questions but she never followed up. Disappointed with that as code for door never worked so used keys instead. Would have liked keyless entry better. Kids were scared of cockroaches..killed two, but realize that can happen anywhere. Overall, probably would not stay again just due to location.

Poipu Crater #12 was cozy and quiet for our family of 4. We liked the small but well-appointed kitchen with nice dishware, pots/pans. We also liked the comfortable and tastefully decorated living room and clean furniture. The grounds were very quiet, peaceful and convenient, easy to get to the pool and our car parked right outside, which is a nice departure from the huge Hyatt resort and the Poipu hustle and bustle a few minutes away. Location of Poipu Crater is very convenient and close to Poipu and Brennekke's beach and Lawai beach with great snorkeling.
Only minor negative points were that the dining room furniture and lanai furniture were a bit large for the cozy space, such that it was a bit difficult for us to move around in those spaces. Also the downstairs shower was pretty small, so we just showered in the upstairs shower which was very nice. Lastly, for a shoes-off place, the off-white rug leading upstairs was a bit dirty.

Nice Area, Not So Nice Place
There were definitely positives and negative to this experience.
The positives: Communication with property management was amazing, very responsive. When we had an issue (broken shower) they sent out maintenance within an hour to repair. Location was great! We loved being close to Shipwreck Beach and we loved being near shopping and Starbucks.
The negatives: this unit was not cleaned adequately - significant dust on fans and fixtures, cobwebs in corners, dirty countertops, coffee maker had mildew in it. The unit had bugs - I know it’s a tropical environment, but coming across quite a lot of cockroaches, 20-30 ants crawling up walls, and several millipedes in the house was not acceptable. The photos on the listing are old, as the condition of the property is somewhat deteriorated (though still decent) and the washer and dryer are not the same units pictured. There were missing knobs on bathroom vanities. Walls are all scuffed and need painted. The wood flooring is soft in spots and has chunks missing out of it.
Overall, this was a mixed experience. We loved our time in Kauai, but I would not stay at this unit again. I expect a standard, especially for the premium price, and this failed to meet that standard.

Unfortunate disappointment
My husband and I were very excited about the opportunity to visit Kauai together and stay in what we thought was a beautifully appointed condo for 9 days. Unfortunately, the photos and reviews for this condo did not meet what we experienced in person at all. I specifically sought out a unit with A/C. It was like a sauna our first 2 days until I complained and a repairman arrived only to find out no one had bothered to add freon.That should have been taken care of prior to our check-in. There were numerous broken and defective items,,,missing vertical blinds, door lock broken, lack of privacy in the master bathroom, the carpeting on the stairs was very dirty, the bedding was thin and ill-fitting (new bedding had to be sent over), the unit is in dire need of paint, stained toilet seats, rusted light fixtures, and numerous other issues that I advised the property manager of. For what we paid, this unit was in unacceptable condition. We also found a pair of balled up children's undies in the bedroom closet on our last day. I would not stay at this property, or any others under the same property management, again. Many individual details were completely disregarded.

The Poipu Crater is a quiet, tropical enclave just a few minutes walk from the beaches. The condo is sheltered within jungle greenery and those who share the complex are like-minded quiet people. The accommodations within Number 12 are as advertised. The Koloa Kai Management Company is about the best we've ever encountered for a vacation rental property. Great communication, clear messages, always available to answer inquiries. Check in was flawless, instructions were complete and helpful. We recommend this venue. Our second stay in the Crater did not disappoint once again.
We stayed in #12 and were extremely happy with the location. We had a lot of peace and quiet and lush and beautiful surroundings, which is why we ate all our meals out on the lanai. It was only a 10 minute walk to Brenneke and Poipu Beach, but still away from the busy Poipu area. Great condo for the 5 of us. Lots of space, and had a well stocked kitchen.
The vacation rental is conveniently located between Poipu Beach and Shipwrek Beach. It‘s about a 25 minute drive from the airport.
We‘ve had some issues with the cleanliness of the place and provided private feedback to Jed and Lisa. They‘ve promised to look into it.
Otherwise the place offers everything you need.
There is no A/C in the second bedroom on the ground floor.
The unit was spotless and ready for us early. The kitchen was the best appointed kitchen I've ever seen at a rental property. Parking was close to the unit as were the swimming pool and barbecues. A short walk takes you to Poipu beach. Never used the air conditioning. Instead we opened up the house and used the overhead fans. A very nice property.
Our family of 5 stayed a little over a week. Everything was PERFECT! The location, having a full kitchen, the washer and dryer, and we loved the lanai. It was a great place to be together. Can't rave enough about having AC! In the middle of July, that was a must. We will definitely be back. Thank you for everything.
