I wish I had the money to buy this place it's exactly what I want! We had such a great time this weekend staying in the area, Great water pressure #1.. very clean and comfortable beds, had everything you needed. Did not see any bears or deer unfortunately. Arrived an hour early and Leah was kind enough to let us check in early after an 8 hour drive which we really appreciate as well as some home made banana bread. Will definitely keep it in mind if we're ever in need to stay in the area again.

This property was amazing!! The location is perfect, but most important to us is the cleanliness of the home. It was spotless. All amenities were there, including cookies as a welcome. The beds were comfortable, appliances were like new, kitchen was stocked with all utensils and cooking pans anyone would need - you could prepare a Thanksgiving feast! Cannot say enough good things about this property. 10 out of 10!

We have rented this again and it is still perfect. Location is perfect for visiting Pungo wildlife refuge which is literally right across the street. !! It’s quiet, peaceful, clean and comfortable!! Our host is great and quick to respond to texts. And the Great Horned Owls come out every night and are right across the road in front of the house!!! We had 3 each night!! And there are bunches of butterflies in her beautiful flowers and we got to see adorable little green frogs this am on the outside kitchen window. Highly recommend staying here for a PERFECT location to set up base for Pungo refuge visits!!

Excellent Location for Exploring Pocosin Lakes Wildlife Refuge

Situated right on the Refuge Road, the location can’t be beat, but this is also an overall great VRBO. The cottage has been nicely refurbished, has all the amenities you’ll need and the owners are great and went out of their way to help make our visit Spectacular.

Great spot

This house was perfect for us, we were there to see the swans and pungo lake was close by. It’s an older home but decorated cute and was very clean AND there was a loaf of pumpkin bread and jam waiting for us!!

Peaceful Retreat

This was our third time staying here and it was just as great as the first! The house is always extremely clean and well stocked with everything that you will need. It's perfect if you are looking to get away from the stress of life and want to slow down.

We absolutely love this home. It’s located on a preserve that offers wonderful photography in the winter (birds) and spring (bears) and many other species of animals/birds throughout the year. The home has everything you would want/need - TV, cable, internet, well supplied, outdoor seating and on the preserve. We will be back !!

We’re headed back in June !!

We have nothing but good to say about this property ! It was clean, roomy, and had every thing we needed in the kitchen. And the location was perfect for us as we are into nature and photography. The owner was very responsive and helpful. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we already booked our next visit. If you decide to rent this home, you will not be disappointed.

Nice place to get away

The house is very clean and well maintained, It has a big yard outside with plenty of room surrounded by beautiful farming fields. Equipped with all modern appliances that worked perfectly -made cooking easy and the whole trip so comfortable. Thanks for letting us come back. 5 stars!!

When we arrived, the door code did not work. The host did not answer for an hour and a half. When she did, I was told she had forgotten we were coming. The house had not been cleaned at all. She gave us fresh sheets for one of the beds. It was a very important trip for us, and a very poor experience. Would not recommend.

Can't Wait for Our Next Visit

This is our third stay on Leah's property, and we're already thinking about when we can go again. On two sides are huge farm fields, and the property is on the very edge of the Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. We've explored this area in spring, summer and fall, and each time found a different profile of critters. Bears, turtles, birds, etc., etc.. Whenever I write a review of this place I leave out a lot, because we'd like to keep it all to ourselves. Thank you Leah (and family). We hope to see you soon. r&d
