Grandma Helen’s was an absolute gem!! Extraordinary home in a small town atmosphere. Stayed here to take in the great bicycle trail system in the area.
Everything was excellent. Host was communicative and available if we had questions. Accommodations could not have been better. Overall, it was the perfect stay and I would recommend this property to anyone.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful, family-friendly home. The décor was beautiful—featuring a great mix of classic styles with tasteful, subtle updates. The house was spotless and the temperature was perfect. The bathrooms also combined older charm with modern conveniences. After a long journey and arriving later than expected, everyone felt comfortable, well-rested, and at ease. Our host was attentive and accommodating when we shared our delayed arrival, and she made the check-in process easy and stress-free.Since none of us had visited Perry, Iowa before, we’re already hoping to return and stay longer to enjoy the town’s quiet atmosphere. We would definitely recommend this property over a hotel.— Bobby
We are a group of 59-78 yr olds that enjoy biking and this place was perfect for us to stay at and bike the High Trestle Trail and the Racoon River Trail.
This beautifully constructed and maintained house provided comfortable accommodation for my family - inside and outside! The kitchen was big and really well equipped; lots of seating in multiple rooms (opportunities for smaller groups to chat in addition to the full group eating together), the outdoor deck and yard were perfect for enjoying the weather and playing yard games; the downtown is walkable from the house and very cute; the host was available for questions and very gracious. We would definitely recommend this house!
We love staying at Helen's House - this is our 2nd time staying and I'm sure we will stay again. It has everything you would want. Great location, beautiful home, and spacious rooms. Perfect for our family.
We have stayed at Grandma Helen’s for three years the night before running Iowa Market to Market and we love it! We look forward to our stay at the historic house as much as the race
My cousins and I had a family reunion here and had a lovely time. There was enough space for everyone to sleep comfortably and the house is a work of art. The little touches and family history make this place memorable and personable. And it's close to downtown if you want to go for a walk and explore. Book this place and you won't regret it.
This was our second year here and it such a welcoming home and Mindy is so great to work with😊 I would recommend this house to anyone who needs a lot of space!
Grandma Helen’s house was perfect. It was so beautifully decorated for Christmas, which made our family Christmas gathering so much more special. The house is very spacious and was perfect for 13 guests ages 7 and up. We would love to come back again!!
This is a beautiful, large, comfortable and very clean property - a house that has obviously been loved by prior and current generations. Especially fun were the momentos of family history sprinkled throughout the house. The kitchen is well equipped, and bathrooms have plenty of towels and supplies - very helpful when you have a large group. The hosts were very responsive and helpful throughout our stay.
This is a spacious and beautiful home that is also warm and inviting. All six bedrooms are large and homey with bedding and blankets perfect for any weather. Mindy has thought of everything a guest might need. It was very clean and the bathrooms had plenty of towels and items needed to bathe plus handy extras! The kitchen was gorgeous! They don't build houses like this anymore. Thanks for letting us enjoy your amazing home!
Such an enjoyable stay. We brought our grandkids (age 3 and 1), our daughter and her husband. It was very spacious for all with everything we needed for the kids. Love the location. Close to downtown, cute shops and restaurants. Very clean, excellent communication throughout our stay. I would highly recommend Helen's House. So cozy and comfortable.
What an amazing home! It was cozy and had such a calm feel. Everything was crisp and clean; the beds were so comfortable and we slept so great! The owners thought of everything we would need and were easy to communicate with when we had a question. You can tell family was a priority for Grandma Helen and we are so grateful to have had the chance to stay in her home. Thank you!
Perfect historic house for family/friends get-togethers
This property has everything you can imagine(except a swimming pool). But no matter, lots of space for large groups to share thoughts and meals. Private spaces for personal conversations or just to think alone. The huge kitchen allows your group to help with meals easily. Close to downtown and groceries. Couldn’t have wished for a better place for our family to get together without a worry or a care.Grateful!
Grandma Helen's House was the PERFECT property for our group of Iowa Watercolor Society (IWS) member artists in town to attend the spring workshop at La Poste. The home has so much character and warmth. The host's attention to detail is obvious and made us all feel so welcome. We will look to reserve this property again for future IWS workshops!
