George left his job on Wall Street in 1975 after picking up a newspaper left on an empty seat of his commuter train. He read about "owner-built homes training" in midcoast Maine and decided to build our home and move there with our two young daughters. We purchased 130 acres and built our home in Newcastle, which is located about 20 miles from Boothbay Harbor. Just a few months after moving into our home, a nice young couple knocked on the door and asked George if he would build them a house just like ours. He agreed and continued to build homes, under the company name of "Hervochon Construction" for the next 39 years! We have remained in the Damariscotta/Newcastle area all this time, although we moved into different houses built by my husband. George has designed and built a variety of styles to suit many clients over the years. The project he is most proud of is St. Patrick's new church in Newcastle, of which he is a member. We give God the glory for that blessing! I am a retired elementary school teacher, and George has turned the building business over to our daughter AnniPat, and our son-in-law. We stay busy with our two summer rentals, and our three grandchildren. ~Kathy Hervochon
