A glass lift takes you from the 5th floor down to the street, where you’ll find a private arcade lined with the city’s most exclusive shops. Personal discounts are available upon request. Take a stroll through the Old Town, across the fruit market, through the arcades, pay a visit to Ötzi, watch the people strolling by while enjoying a cappuccino at Walterplatz, and don’t miss out on the Italian and South Tyrolean specialities! The Museion and the Messner Mountain Museum are also worth a visit. In just 5 minutes, you can reach the Talfer Promenade with the Talferwiesen for a refreshing stroll. Bicycles are available for free at Walterplatz for an exploratory ride. If you’re feeling the urge to head uphill, take the Oswald Promenade—the magnificent view over the city will be your reward! From Bolzano, there are also three cable cars that will take you into the mountains: to Ritten, Jenesien, and Kohlern, where you can then enjoy the rest of the journey on the historic Rittnerbahn. There are plenty of rewarding hikes throughout the area, with many places to stop for refreshments. A hiking guide is available for you. For additional hikes, I highly recommend the Sarntal valley to the north; after a 20-km scenic drive, you’ll reach the main town of Sarnthein, where my “Villa Lageder”—along with five other holiday apartments—is situated, surrounded by a vast garden with mature trees. You’re also welcome to spend the second part of your holiday there hiking or skiing.
