Gorgeous Lakefront Cottage on Devils Lake, Michigan

45 feet of beautiful lake frontage with one of the most spectacular shoreline views! Our beach is sandy, shallow & clear, perfect for swimming! Steps from the dock for easy access into lake.

The Golden Retreat is nestled in a unique area of Devils Lake where you don’t have to cross a street to get to the water! We have a beautiful area for walking, running, and watching the wildlife right in our backyard!

You can use anything and everything in the cottage! We are fully stocked!

Your kids and dogs can play freely! You have access to the whole cottage, the yard, the water, and the 110 ft dock - bring a boat, rent one, or simply enjoy our clear shallow swimming area!

We do weekly rentals (Saturday-Saturday) during the Summer Season starting the Saturday before Memorial Day through Labor Day ☺️
Nightly, Weekly, Weekend, and Monthly booking options available in the Off-Season

Our guests have access to the LEFT side to dock a boat. We provide bumpers. Bring your own or rent one from Robs Rental - we recommend making a reservation well in advance as they book up fast.

• CLEAN! We take cleaning and sanitizing very seriously!
• PRIVATE! We are located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods on the lake and are off of a dead end street. NO traffic.

Absolutely no smoking inside, on or around our property. You will be asked to leave immediately with no refund.

1 dog allowed with our approval - $150 additional fee. Please inquire about more than one dog

(Summer Guests)
*The dock is shared by us and our pontoon will be docked out front - you must agree to be respectful of our boat and we will do the same! We will need to use the dock to get on and off our boat during your stay.

We have two Golden Retrievers (Rory & Tessa) They are both puppies and are still training, they will be using the the dock also - we will always have them leashed.

*Our house is only a few houses down and one of us will be able to assist you by phone or in person during your stay if you need anything at all*

This was my second time staying at the Golden Retreat with my girlfriends and it was just as wonderful as the last time we stayed. We spent 4 nights here to celebrate a long Galentine's weekend. This house is the perfect little cozy cottage to gather with loved ones and take a break from reality. The views of the icy lake were great and Kristi is always VERY responsive to messages. We've stayed here twice in February but hope to book it again in the spring/summer to enjoy some outdoor time on the lake. Thank you again for your hospitality and attention to detail 3

We loved this home! Beautiful views, quiet location, and clean! This sweet house had everything you need.. comfortable beds and linens, full kitchen and cozy furniture. We were there in November, but I can only imagine how lovely it would be in the summer. So charming!

This cottage is adorable and offers so many extras we weren’t expecting! It’s the perfect location on the lake and being able to dock our boat right at the house made the stay even more enjoyable. We would absolutely stay here again.

Devils Lake Cottage

This cottage was perfect for our family vacation at the lake this year. It was well stocked with all the essentials for adults and children too. Everyone was impressed. We especially loved the location of this property. It was located off the main road but had waterfront views and grass for the kids to play. The hosts were very accommodating and readily available whenever we had questions. We hope to come back and visit again. Thank you for everything

Beautiful property that is pet friendly!

This lake home was a great pet friendly place to stay with our two dogs during a major home renovation. Our hosts were wonderful with their correspondence and with helpful notes within the home. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.

Wonderful property and super attentive hosts! Surprise snowstorm did not dampen our enjoyment if this charming property. Our hosts even shoveled for us which was greatly appreciated zfter a long day.

Excellent lakefront getaway

Due to a last minute change in our travel plans, we needed a cottage on short notice and Kristi was very kind and accommodating. The cottage is just lovely and more open and spacious than you would imagine with a beautiful view of the lake. Would highly recommend this cottage and would definitely consider a return visit in the future.

This location on the lake is so quiet and less busy than many areas of Devils Lake. House was perfect and the owners are awesome. Mostly I appreciated being able to bring my 2 dogs who loved it just as much as we did. We will be back!!!!

The cottage was a wonderful retreat with a stunning view! Colton was incredibly responsive anytime I had to reach out and so kind. I was able to have my dog with me and it was so nice to walk in and find a dog bed and dog towels available! I hope to return for future visits!

Great place for family

Location is great - on the water with great back deck and sunroom. 5 min from a nice coffee / ice cream shop. owners left floats for our kids which was a great surprise! Also left us with lots of essentials in case we forgot. They had a board up with all the things to do around town. We loved it!

Hidden Gem

This is our setting time starting at this hidden gem and we will be back! Beautifully situated on the south shores of Devils Lake. Cozy, cute place with all of the amenities you need for your stay. Amazing with the amount of room in this little cottage. Perfect place for us to hang out with family, have some good meals, play some games and enjoy the views. We will be back!!!

Fantastic Weekend!!!

We rented The Golden Retreat for the Easter weekend so we could spend time as a family with our daughter who is attending college in the area. Perfect setup for us to get together as a family and even have a few guests over for Easter dinner. As a bonus, we were able to bring our dog StanLee with. Cute little cabin with plenty of upgrades and modern amenities to make our stay a perfect weekend. We will definitely be returning!!!

Great view of Devil’s Lake - right on the lake!

Loved the view, the oversized comfy couch, quality of bedding. Also, appreciated the care towards the environment evident in the property. The rooms are well decorated and equipped. Wish it were summertime so we could enjoy the sunroom and spacious deck. Another time…

Very charming cottage in a lovely spot!!

Golden Retreat was so charming, and located in a beautiful area. Furnishings and decor were just so comfortable and cozy! We couldn’t have asked for a nicer place to spend a week, with the lake right outside our door. We only had one problem, which was taken care of immediately and we really appreciated that. Perfect in every way!

What a greeting! we arrived to Mother's Day flowers, balloon, and lovely welcome card from the owner. you truly feel like this is your home. Every amenity I could think of was provided. Our son brough his two Frenchies and there were doggie gates provided so we could keep them on the deck and not worry . I would rebook in a heartbeat, and it was our second visit, sure to book again!

Best spot for a Bookcation

My friends and I stayed at the Golden Retreat in February 2025. We were looking for a place close to metro Detroit, on the water & affordable and this place ticked all the boxes. Place was cozy, comfortable and had all of the basic necessities we needed for our getaway. We loved painting in the sunroom after breakfast everyday and even ventured out onto the frozen lake one day. It was fun watching people snowmobiling or cross country skiing on the lake. Hopefully next time we’ll check out a place that rents out snowmobiles. Hosts were super communicative & friendly. We decided to add an extra stay to our vacation because we just weren’t ready to leave. Ours hosts were very accommodating. Overall a perfect place to relax, read with my book club girls, paint & catch up on each other’s lives. Highly recommend this property and can’t wait to go back!

Sunny Charming Cottage

This is a darling cottage on a beautiful lake that has been nicely renovated, keeping much of its original charm but also modern updates. It was spotless, with so many thoughtful touches throughout, making our stay perfect (3 friends getting away for a weekend of reading, catching up, and relaxing - without kids or partners!). The weather was gorgeous when we were there (mid-October) so we were able to take advantage of the excellent outdoor seating. One of us even kayaked! The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. There isn't a dishwasher but washing up was no problem. There's an excellent supply of dishes and cookery and it's of good quality. The beds were comfy, the linens nice and very clean. The couches and chairs were comfy for laying around all day in reading and watching TV. The bathroom is small but it was just fine for a few days and the water pressure was good. Plus there is room in each bedroom for your toiletries etc. I especially appreciated all the hooks for hanging clothes & towels! And the charging lamps in the bedrooms are a great touch too! Checking in and out was a breeze as was finding the place. We would absolutely stay here again.

Not a good experience

Overall the property was nice and clean in a good location. Unfortunately we felt uncomfortable and we left early. Two family members were on the outside back deck smoking cigarettes. The owner walked up and was very upset and reminded us that smoking anywhere on the property was against the rules. My mother and brother repeatedly apologized and promised it would not happen again. 10 minutes later she returned and told my family members they needed to leave immediately. No warning, no reminder, just get out. I understand our guest broke a rule however having the owner kick out my family because they were smoking a cigarette outside seems a bit extreme. After this incident we felt very unwelcome so we packed up and left the next morning ending our vacation early.
