We just returned home from a fantastic family road trip from LA to SF, and staying here was a highlight! This home is so luxurious yet comfy and hosts next door are so lovely. We could have stayed at Santa Margarita for a week with so much to do, great food and best to other towns and beaches too. Thank you so much Tim and Dana!

Quiet and peaceful

The house is beautiful, organized, clean. It was quiet and had a great view of the rolling hills and oak trees. We enjoyed the small town of Santa margarita, as well.

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at this modern and spacious home. My family started each day with breakfast on the front porch, enjoying the view of the rolling hills, and ending each day with a soak in the hot tub. A major draw for us was the central location close to Avila Beach, the hikes in SLO, and the wineries in Paso Robles! This house is in the perfect location to enjoy SLO County. The kitchen is fully stocked, check-in was a breeze, and the owners were very responsive to every question.

Fantastic Place

Couldn’t ask more for a place to stay. Beautiful location, plenty of space, lots of amenities, and details I appreciated like more than enough towels for our whole group and the fireplace all set up and ready to go (even though it was too hot to use it). I highly recommend and would love to stay again in the future.

Excellent Stay

It was tucked away in the boundaries of Santa Margarita with a gorgeous view. Photos can't do the house justice because it was up kept very well, and felt very homey. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay!

Great for a family getaway

This property surpassed our expectations in every way. Very clean, comfortable, well located quiet property that had every amenity. The hosts were discreet but always accessible. The house has been recently renovated and was very thoughtfully designed and furnished. We most definitely would stay here again.

Property was very clean and modern and by far was the best appointed rental we ever had the pleasure of staying in. Good restaurants nearby but the rental had everything we needed to cook in and BBQ which we did. Would highly recommend.

Daughter's graduation from SLO

The place was all we could ask for. Well stocked (beyond well even had Band-Aids and hydrogen peroxide we needed for my mom) and only 10-12 minute from the college and 15 minutes from Downtown SLO, nearly all freeway. Wineries in the area and a welcoming and comforting home. Highly suggested; we plan on coming again.

Gorgeous and Peaceful

We held a gathering of women and this property was so perfect! Lots of thoughtful touches, plenty of towels and pillows, all communication was promptly answered. The property is beautiful and right near the lake! Kitchen is fully equipped, plenty of firewood provided and the hot tub is wonderful. Even the pull out couch beds are so comfy! Highly recommend!

Ideal home base for guys weekend

Lucky enough to be the first guest at this great new vacation rental! They've done a fabulous job building out a nice place, well stocked. 3 fully private and sizeable bedrooms, nice jacuzzi, great clean facilities. Excellent natural market 2 blocks away, and a few other food options in town. Check out the Rinconada Mine down the road! Crazy sight. Highly recommend this place.

Cute farmhouse chic perfection!

Cutest property with thoughtful details. House is even better in person and bigger then we expected which was absolutely perfect. Was the perfect staycation with the girls. Quiet and secluded. Heated bathroom floor in the master was a wonderful surprise! I can’t say enough nice things! THANK YOU!

If I could rent this house in every city/town, I would!!!

This was the most wonderful stay I've had at a VRBO! It was close enough to SLO that we could get there in less than 15 minutes but it was far enough away to get us out of the chaos of downtown SLO during Graduation weekend. We felt so at home in this house. We enjoyed the fire pit, the jacuzzi, the well equipped kitchen and the beautiful views! The hosts could not have been more accommodating. We would definitely stay here agin! Thank you Tim and Dana!

Wish we were staying longer!

This is a gorgeous, comfortable home with incredible outdoor space. So many thoughtful touches, like phone and watch chargers on either side of the bed in the primary bedroom. The outdoor space is the greatest I’ve seen in a rental. We were only there two nights and ended up getting in later than planned the first night, so we didn’t get to enjoy the space as much as I would have liked. Will definitely stay again if we find ourselves in SLO again.

Amazing place

This property is amazing!! The owners are amazing as well. They responded quickly to any questions i had. The house is bigger than we thought and just beautiful. We 8 with us and plenty of room. The pictures do not do it justice. Every detail was thought of. There were vegetables to pick and eggs in the chicken coop. Plenty of parking. I just can’t say enough. We are definitely planning a trip back, just to enjoy this property!!!!

Absolutely Wonderful Place to Stay

This was an absolutely perfect place for our family to stay and I’m so grateful we found it! It is a large house and is just very nicely decorated and presented. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are all very nice! My mom broke her collarbone while we were staying at this house and the fact that it had an accessible shower with a hand held shower head and shower bench so we could help her wash her hair as well as an adjustable bed so she could sleep propped up were unexpected blessings. The house was stocked with almost everything one could need, even things you don’t normally see provided by rentals, like nail polish remover. The property is beautiful with a really nice garden on site as well that we ate some fresh artichoke from! We enjoyed the beautiful weather sitting on the nice porches and loved that it was within walking distance of the Santa Margarita park and library. We would absolutely stay here again and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area!

Such a comfortable getaway!

This property is simply amazing. It's quiet, calm, and comfortable. The interior is so calm and peaceful, and easy to enjoy. The exterior spaces are great for entertaining or relaxing. The entire property is accessible with ramps to the firepit and outdoor patios, as well as a no-step shower and pull-bars by the toilets. The location is perfect if you want to be somewhere quiet and small, but close enough to normal conveniences in the surrounding area. Also an easy driving distance to San Luis Obispo and the coast. The hosts are wonderful. Very responsive and helpful, and also respectful of space and privacy. We were sad to go, and hope to stay here again!

Perfect Girls Getaway

This property has everything you need and more! Incredible hospitality, well supplied kitchen for foodies, plenty of space and beautiful surroundings. Great location as you can hit all the great spots - SLO, Morro Bay, Avila Beach plus! We’ll definitely be returning! Hosts are welcoming and communicative too.

Exceptional!

We wish we could give the Saloon six stars. This was one of our favorite stays. The hosts Tim and Dana have thought of everything to enhance your stay. The beautifully decorated residence looks like a model home inside. There are numerous outside seating areas to bask in the serenity.The place is immaculate. There are many comfy touches like high quality throws in every room. The kitchen is well equipped and stocked. The countryside location is fabulous and peaceful. We got a kick out of watching the neighborhood goats across the street play. Pismo Beach, hiking and wineries are 10 minutes away and we took advantage of it all. We hope to visit again. Thank you!

Golfers Getaway

This property perfectly fit our needs. We had a group of 9 guys celebrating a bachelor party golf weekend and this location was perfect. We played Hunter Ranch and Monarch Dunes and this location was in between both. There was plenty of space to spread out and BBQ and everyone loved the hot tub after a long day on the course. We had a great weekend with family and longtime friends.

The house is truly lovely and spacious. Tim is a fantastic host- his recommendations for places to eat and things to do were spot on. One could feel happy doing as much-or as little- as one wanted. We loved every minute of it!

Dana and Tim met at Cal Poly in 2015. The central coast has been our home for than 20 years and after a few years of living in beautiful San Luis Obispo, we decided to find something a little more rustic and a place that moves a little bit slower. Santa Margarita was the perfect choice for us to find some land, plant a garden and raise a family.

Why they chose this property

Nestled in hills of Santa Margarita and with a great view of the Santa Lucia mountain range, this is a place to relax and watch the world go by. With an easy 10 minute drive, you can be in the hustle and bustle of downtown San Luis Obispo (SLO) or a 20 minute drive north will bring you to wine country in Paso Robles. Multiple beaches from Pismo to Cayucos and beyond are not far away. There are also many hikes and lakes to enjoy.

If you don't plan on going anywhere, enjoy sitting on the front porch with a drink of choice and let the world melt away. We also have many games and activities as well as a hot tub and firepit in the back. The house has AC/Heat, great wifi and tons of options on the tv using Roku. The house is fully furnished and has just about everything you need to cook and barbecue.

We do reside on the property in a second home and respect boundaries and the experience is intimate and free of distractions.
