## Emplacement
Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer is a town in the Var, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, located on the peninsula of the same name which is connected to the continent by the isthmus of Sablettes. It is located about fifteen kilometers south of Toulon of which it "closes" partly the harbor. The history of Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer is closely linked to that of the nearby naval military base in Toulon. First with the installation of an infirmary and then a military hospital, then a fort and defensive batteries and finally a lighthouse. Today, the French Navy still occupies three-quarters of the municipal territory, including a naval training center, a diving base and a mechanics' school.
