We loved this place although I don’t think we had clocked that it was up a flight of steps!! It’s a stone’s throw from both the canal and the medieval part of Malestroit which is a proper working town rather than the more chocolate box ‘petites cites de caractere’ such as Rochefort en Terre. If you have a medium sized car you will have no problem using the spacious garage. We were mid camping holiday with a 6m camper and to make matters more challenging the Rue was closed so we had to drive down the tow path and back down from the far end of the Rue to offload. Luckily the barriers were just wide enough and no one seemed terribly bothered! But it was not really a problem and we knew we would have to park by the ecluse/lock which is only a couple of minutes walk away. The flat itself suited a couple (it has a single bedroom as well which we didn’t use) and two small dogs just fine. The laundry set up downstairs was fine: no tumble drier but the indoor clothes lines plus the water boiler dried stuff overnight. The bed was comfortable, linen fine, heating responsive once I had cracked the manual (just beginning to get a bit chilly in October), kitchen worked. The ironing board cover was useless and it took me a minute to realise the water supply to the WC was isolated and in fact there is a constant dripping from inside the cistern so we left it that way on leaving. All in all we were delighted and who goes on holiday to iron and fix the plumbing?!
