About this property

Cozy & Clean, One Room Cabin Retreat

Enjoy a true getaway in this nicely appointed studio cabin in Lulu’s Guest Ranch. It is one of several authentic Montana ranch cabins in a cluster, just 8 minutes from downtown Whitefish. You will be surrounded by nature, with sweeping vistas. It’s not uncommon to see elk and deer feeding out front, eagles, hawks and owls overhead as well as majestic Clydesdale horses next door at the Clydesdale Outpost.

The cabin was completely updated in 2021 and is very clean. It is small but very well appointed. It has a full kitchen and bath, complete with tile shower. The queen bed is comfortable and offers amazing views of the Whitefish range. Original pine walls provide a warm, rustic ambiance. Outside there are covered and uncovered decks for all seasons, complete with deck chairs and a picnic table. We have friendly lab, Lulu, who occasionally roams the property.

Note: Our cabins have 95% 5-star reviews from guests around the world. They are in authentic, rural Montana. Like most of rural Montana, they have:

1) Limited Wifi. It is available but not fast (8-10 mbps) and sometimes goes down altogether
2) Limited cell service
3) Occasional mosquitos and other insects, inside and outside

If any of these are a critical issue for you, this cabin is not your best choice. We can’t guarantee any of them won’t occur during your stay.

Many locals consider the north side to be Whitefish’s best side. Recreation abounds, just minutes away. Access to the extensive Whitefish trail system is a 5-minute drive to the Beaver Lakes trailhead. This is your gateway to fantastic hiking, trail running and mountain biking. In another few minutes you’ll find beautiful alpine lakes, including Beaver Lake, Murry Lake and Woods Lake. They’re crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming, paddle boarding and fishing. These are local gems. Speaking of mountain biking, the area’s best trails are also within a 5- minute drive. Between Beaver Lake trail and Spencer Mountain you’ll have your choice of flowy green to challenging double-black runs. The trails are well marked. You can even stop by the Whitefish Bike Retreat (also 5 minutes away) for a beer, great conversation and equipment rentals. The Still water river is less than a half mile away, offering good fly fishing.

Big Mountain (Whitefish Ski Resort) is a 25-minute drive and is a great place to recreate in the summer with an outstanding choice of activities. Glacier Park west entrance is 45 minutes.

Heading north from here you have an incredible selection of lakes, trail systems and all the recreation NW Montana has to offer, but without the crowds!

Quaint and Quiet with a view
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was exactly as described yet even better, the view out the kitchen window and from the small deck was worth resting to see. Jim and Lynette were very accommodating and helpful with hints for local enjoyment. If you are going that way, this is the place to stay.

Beautiful cabin- incredible location- awesome hosts!
This was the perfect stay for us. It’s was about 15 minutes from downtown Whitefish and about an hour from Glacier National Park. The studio cabin was so cute, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the whole setup was great. We loved the space and it was exactly what we were looking for. The hosts were also so kind and easy to work with. Would definitely stay there again!

Quaint 1 room retreat just outside of town
We booked this spot just outside of town for our visit to Glacier National Park. Clean, nice little cabin. No TV but I knew that when i booked - Does get the evening sun so it was too hot to sit out on the porch - but I'd stay here again. Communication with hosts was flawless.

Amazing stay!
We absolutely loved everything about our stay. It was perfect! Beautiful property, new/nice accommodations and super clean. No tv or laundry. But neither are preferred or a requirement for us!

Peaceful and relaxing
We loved our stay in this small cozy cabin. The location is fabulous - scenery all around! It was very clean - perfect for a couple. Our favorite spot was the deck where it’s possible to eat meals and enjoy nature, including the neighboring horses. The owners were responsive and easy to access.

About the host

Hosted by James and Lynette Haun

Host profile image
Lynette and Jim purchased this amazing property in 2019 after moving to Whitefish from Hood River, Oregon in 2017. Like many Montana residents, we love the outdoors and spend as much time as we can in the mountains and lakes. We mountain bike, ski, hike and swim often. We also love to travel internationally, both for pleasure and to serve on medical teams.

Why they chose this property

As soon as we saw this property of the first time we recognized how special it is. The moment you turn off the highway you're ushered into a tranquil park-like setting. We're surrounded by 100's of acres of land, including the Clydesdale outpost and the Stillwater river. We love this part of the valley, which remains fee of the crowds from downtown and surrounding Glacier Park.

What makes this property unique

We're only 8 minutes from downtown (less time than reaching town from Big Mountain) but a world away in terms of authentic Montana countryside. Deer, elk and many birds of prey call this home. Access to great hiking and crystal clear alpine lakes is fantastic, often less that 10 minutes' drive. And great mountain biking, including the Whitefish Bike Retreat.
