This is a beautiful lake house with a lot to love. Being right on the water was fantastic—we really enjoyed the firepit, paddleboards, and dock. The host, Brian, was always responsive and helpful, which we appreciated. That said, I’m giving it four stars instead of five for a few reasons that future renters might want to consider. First, while the location and amenities are great, the house itself is a two-bedroom, one-bath, and the price felt high for the size. The deck was also a concern—it appeared to be leaning and had visible patchwork repairs that made it feel unsafe.Another consideration is the payment and cancellation policy. I reserved in March and had to pay in full by mid-April, with no option to cancel without losing the entire payment. Most other VRBOs I’ve used allow more flexibility, such as payment closer to the stay and cancellation windows. Additionally, renters are required to either place a 3,000 hold on their credit card or purchase insurance, which felt excessive.Lastly, before checkout, guests are asked to wash towels and dishes and remove trash. While not a huge issue, it’s something to be aware of when planning your departure.Overall, it’s a wonderful property with great lake access and a responsive host, but there are a few logistical and safety concerns that kept it from being a five-star experience for me.
