Cozy Couples Retreat, See the Northern Lights

About this space
Explore Alaska's wilderness on this secluded 3 acres and escape the lockdown of the city. Build a camp fire, or relax on the porch. Later on, immerse yourself in a novel, take a walk, or visit the UAF museum.

Serenity Gulch is the quintessential one-room cabin. You’re invited to step back in time to a simpler era. Cabins are the original "tiny house" that pioneers lived in.

Guest access:
The entire cabin and the 2.5 acres are yours to explore. The second cabin, the Wolf's Den, is off-limits.

The space
Are you looking for the Alaskan charm of a log home, privacy, and endless fun and adventures? This is the real Alaskan experience. Serenity Gulch by Musher's Hall has played base camp for many that have visited and explored the interior of Alaska. Enjoy the outdoors from the deck or outside staying warm at the firepit. Enjoying some down time with your significant other. No need for Aurora tours, simply watch them while relaxing on the front porch.

Unplug from the stress of lock-down and politics. Revel in the freedom of no masks. Instead, watch the wildlife, photograph the northern-lights, or play cards with your loved one on the edge of the boreal forest. Get cozy while reading a good book in the hanging chair.

This quaint cabin is 240 square feet of intimate space. The queen-bed welcomes you with luxurious 600 thread count cotton sheets and a fluffy comforter. A variety of pillow types are available inviting a restful night’s sleep. Blackout curtains ensure your comfort and privacy, even in the summer’s midnight sun. The cabins' natural materials ease you into the day, encouraging you to linger over your morning coffee.

The kitchenette has a Keurig coffee maker, coffee grinder, pour-over coffee maker, microwave, electric tea kettle, commercial waffle iron, toaster oven, a one-pan burner, a toaster and a Crockpot. Bar stools hug the counter; its wide space can be used as a standing desk for working on your computer with the unlimited Wi-Fi.

Snuggle up with a luxurious blanket in the hanging wicker chair. Read a novel, or connect with friends on social media, before heading outside for the day. Relax in the tranquility of the tree-lined porch as you watch the abundance of wildlife including moose, fox, owls, ravens, lynx, and squirrels. Allow the meandering trials to entice you on a walk in the woods.

Walk hand-in-hand with your loved one in the brisk air. Light a fire and roast marshmallows for s’mores in the outdoor fire-pit. Any downed wood on the property can be used or BYO. Enjoy the rich and homey smell of dinner cooking on the charcoal grill. (Charcoal not provided.)

Comfortable chairs await you on the porch to enjoy the birdsong and sparkling possibilities of the day. Release your worries with each exhalation of fresh spring air. Experience the sunrise while listening to birds and squirrels chattering in the sparkling sunlight.

A cabin In the woods

A very nice cabin in the woods without running water but has power. Water is supplied 2 ways a big jug above a sink and a very nice drinking water machine/cooler. Outside bathroom outhouse was as nice as you can have but smelled nasty, yes they all do. The cabin inside was perfect everything you needed.

About the host

Host profile image
I am highly goal oriented, determined and never let anything keep me from making my dreams come true.

I am married to my true soul mate and have a wonderful 21 year old son. We have 3 dogs and 1 cat.

I love crafting, DIY, learning new things, outdoor adventure, fishing, flowers, gardening and so much more.

I have studied interior design, professional organization, wedding and event planning, floral design, drafting and design and business.

I am a retired pipeline designer of about 20 years, where I worked in West Monroe, LA and Houston, TX. I grew up in a very rural town called Start, LA, where I attended school with Tim McGraw. I lived on a farm and helped raise rabbits, chickens, pigs, horses, cows, ducks, geese, quails, dogs and cats (and the occasional turtle and tadpoles I would catch in the ditch). I was quite the tom-boy growing up.

My husband and I are starting a new chapter in our lives and have recently moved to Alaska. It was a journey just getting here, but so far we love it and have no plans of leaving.

What makes this property unique

The cabin and the 2.5 acres are yours to explore. The second cabin, Serenity Gulch, is off-limits unless you rent both units for your stay.

Serenity Gulch, the smaller cabin, is located on the same property and can be rented out along with the Wolf's Den for large gatherings of friends and family. Check out it's availability for booking.

Free parking is provided on the premises.

The cabin is located about a 20 minute drive from Fairbanks International Airport.

Musher's Hall, which is home to the Open North American Sled Dog Race, is a quick 10 minute walk away. This famous event hosts mushers from all over the world each spring. Trails from the Musher's Hall lead to Creamer's Field.

University of Alaska Fairbanks is a 10 minute drive away.

Creamer's Field- a seasonal migratory waterfowl refuge of Alaska where Cranes, Arctic Swans, and Canada Geese abound- is a 12 minute drive. Spring is the best time to see the migrating birds.

Enjoy bountiful miles of wilderness trails on Farmer's Loop, Birch Hill and UAF.
