Beautiful Retreat!

We were Susan and Terry's first renters and we loved it! We'd never been to Matagorda Beach but it was awesome. Less touristy. Drive right on the beach for $10/yr. (Make sure you bring your 4x4 though...the sand is soft! Lots of folks were getting stuck.) There's a parking lot within walking distance if you don't have an off road vehicle. But the beach itself was clean (for the gulf) and fun! The only downside is that this retreat is an escape so there's nothing "close by." You're a good 30 minutes from dinner, shopping, etc. But the home is comfy with all the amenities and the view! It's spectacular.

Loved this place ❤

This is exactly what me and my partner needed. We loved staying in Susan house it was so peaceful and had everything we needed. Loved the country and loved the beach so beautiful. And the nice little restaurants around the area are wonderful with kind people. My partner loved it and he said we definitely should come back. Susan was a great host and very kind !! Great stay!

Don't stay unless you enjoy being bothered by owner.

Owner hovered and came to property twice in 12 hrs. I've stayed at many vrbo properties and never dealt with owner/ manager popping in unannounced. She won't get many repeat customers and that's guaranteed. No where does the rules say you can't have a guest during daytime hours. Complaining of having 5 instead of 4 daytime visitors (not overnight guests) made an uncomfortable stay. Would not recommend this property unless you enjoy being watched and confronted.

We try hard to make everyone’s stay an enjoyable experience at Coastal Retreat. We also feel that the booking party should be truthful and upfront and we don’t feel that this booking was a truthful one. Deanna booked the house for 1 guest. We did a meet and greet at the check in at 4-5:00 pm on Day 1 and a very young lady answered to the name of Deanna. This was deceptive because we found out later she was not Deanna. She stated that it would be her and her boyfriend spending the night. On day two at 5-6:00 pm when the 4th car arrived, we made a phone call to Deanna to inquire. There was no answer so we went to the property and knocked on the door and found a group of 5 very young people having a birthday party for a 20 year old male. He stated that his mother was in fact Deanna. Alcohol was involved and there was no parental supervision. These young people were very nice and informed us that only 3 of them would be staying the night. They asked if we wanted them to leave and we declined. We feel that Deanna never went to the property and that she only rented the house for her son to have a birthday party. Our rules state the minimum rental age is 24.
